I am waiting for a Lucid Clear Crystal for a while, delivery times to my country are long.. Can someone post photo's of this case on the iPhone 12 (pro)? Very curious how thin it is.

I don’t have it for my 12 Pro, but I had the lucid clear for my iPhone 7. For that one, it was a thicker case than I expected, and it allowed lots of dust and such to get between the case and phone...I ended up not using it. It’s the only Caudabe case that I’ve ever not really liked.

Maybe the new ones are different though.

Actually just ordered a black Sheath for my 12 Pro today from Caudabe. I've heard a lot of good things, hopefully there aren't issues with mine. Really excited about the grip texture on the back. I originally ordered a Smartish Kung Fu Grip but the buttons are incredible hard to press and mushy.

Those that had a sheath replacement, did Caudabe ask you to send the defective one back? If not, would you mind posting a picture of what the defective one looks like? I’m just curious if we truly have the same issue.

Caudabe did respond to me and let me know about the issue and said they’d replace mine when more navy sheaths are available in 2 weeks...

They did not. I have a pic and it’s kinda hard to see but if you look down the edge you can see it’s bowed out a little. Creates flex when you hold it.

Ok. So it is not a massive difference that you have? Mine stays on the phone fine, it’s just slightly looser on the top. I can’t decide if I’m just blowing it out of proportions because everything is new.

So, the top actually expands for you just from normally holding the phone?

For what it's worth, I'm using a Caudabe Sheath now on my 12 Pro and it fits beautifully. Very happy with the case.

Looks like it's a minor issue and only affects a small batch? I've gotten replacements from Caudabe in the past and they've never once asked me to send anything back. Maybe I'm just special, but probably not? 😂

I can confirm that MagSafe works, but I don't have a reason to use MagSafe right now so that doesn't really matter to me.

You're on Macrumors, everything gets blown out of proportion! 😆 The issue sounds and looks pretty minor from what you're describing. Mine is perfect (at least to my eyes) and it looks like some others in this thread have good ones too, so it sounds like some were affected and others weren't. If they told you they're revising it then maybe just wait for the replacement? I'm sure that'll be 100% ok.

I ordered a sheath case from France. Please send some pictures of the case to see how the case looks like !

We must have gotten lucky. The lucid clear at our house fits fine. Only intend to use it until more 3rd party MagSafe cases come out.

With a non MagSafe case I wouldn’t trust it in a car mount. With MagSafe maybe. The magnets are strong, but not sure if it’s enough for a mount.

so I tried my daughters iPhone 12 Caseless and it stuck great. Wouldn’t move over bumps. So I figured a MagSafe case would be the same no?!

It’s not bad at all, but since it didn’t lay flat I contacted Caudabe support. They were great to deal with and are sending a new one. It pushes out just being on the phone. Not much. Maybe a mm on the sides and half that top and bottom.

I would imagine. I haven’t used MagSafe with anything other than the MagSafe charge puck. It grips very well with the MagSafe case. About half as much with a non MagSafe case so that’s why I figured it might not hold well enough for magnet mounts.

so if a MagSafe case works for my mount then i would set. Currently I have a plate in my case which I can’t wireless charge with case on so I take my case off when I wireless charge over night. This would make all my problems go away. Lol

How is the lucid case scratching phones??

My wife has a Lucid on her new 12 Pro and loves it. Not a scratch on hers as far as I can tell. Not sure how it would scratch given that it's plastic after all. Shouldn't scratch metal. Then again, stainless steel is fairly soft as far as metals go.

I don't think you got lucky, you're probably the norm. We got one, fits fine. A buddy at work was just raving about the case today on a Zoom call too so it sounds like his didn't have issues either.

Has anyone attempted...or been successful at attaching a popsocket to the Sheath? Thanks

I wanted to give some thoughts on the black sheath for my 12 Pro. It just arrived today.

I’ll start by saying I have bought a Smartish Kung Fu grip for my 3 past iPhones, solid value at $12-15 from Amazon. Unfortunately the first batch of cases this year had issues with hard to press buttons, ended up returning... So I took a look around here to see what people ended up with. Took a bite on the sheath.

All I can say is that it’s incredible. It’s slightly slimmer than the Kung Fu grip overall. Very easy to take off and on when necessary. I love the pebbled/grip texture throughout the entire case (some the Kung Fu lacked on the back). It just feels so much better. Cannot recommend it enough, count me as a Caudabe fan from now on.

Gotta say, glad I just ordered mine...wish I had done so sooner. Been using the Torras Slim Fit, which did me justice on my Xs for year or more. Then today had a small fall and the screen lip not enough to stop scratches!

I’m thinking of grabbing one for the first time.. probably the sea green. How thick is it?

Fairly thin, definitely a bit thinner than a Kung Fu Grip if you ever owned one. It's TPU material so it can only get so thin without messing with the integrity of the case.

This is a decent video that goes through the new lineup:

How is the lucid case scratching phones??

It scratches the stainless steel band on the silver phones as many things do. The coated stainless rims scratch the inside of the case. I have 4 of them to prove it but not the phone that was scratched. The more you take out of the case and put back in the phone, the more scratches you’ll have.

Thanks! It looks really good

I just ordered the black sheath. I usually go OtterBox commuter but this phone is bulky enough and I read reviews on the symmetry series and they are not fitting quite right

Well, at first I thought I’d just move on and forget about my sheath not fitting perfectly, but it started to annoy me because the sides are squishy feeling when I hold it. I reached back out and let them know I’d accept the replacement.

Hopefully the next one fits right. I’ve always loved the fit of their cases in the past.

I’ve been using my Caudabe Lucid Clear for a few days. I love the cutouts for the buttons and overall aesthetic.

I’m posting to report one issue. The cutouts of the bottom of the case are exposing sharp plastic. It is worse when dragging your fingers from the front glass down towards the cutout ridges. It pokes and is surprisingly uncomfortable. I’m debating returning it.
