iPhone 12 Pro Max (graphite), naked since the day I bought it (not launch day - maybe 1-2 weeks later) ... The stainless steel has one or two tiny scratches (very difficult to see, unless you're looking for them) so I have to say I'm impressed with whatever finishing treatment Apple is using.

That said, my screen has several vertical scratches above the earpiece speaker. I finally put a screen protector on it last week (only because the oleophobic coating had completely worn off and I was tired of looking at fingerprints all the time) but there were no other scratches (micro-scratches or larger ones) anywhere, aside from the ones by the earpiece.

So everyone still have their stainless steel frame immaculate? Even the pvd coating no markings whatsoever?
My 12 PM in Gold is immaculate with apple silicone case

Been using it butt nekkid since day 1. I love that it has MagSafe so I no longer need to put a case on in the car to attach it to the magnetic mount - I just stick the naked iPhone to a MagSafe car mount now. It even charges wirelessly!

Gold pro, zero scratches of any kind.
Have you tried checking your stainless steel band’s PVD coating in an angle under direct bright light as some very very minor marks cannot be seen straight on? Including the entire rim (the edges of the frame which is adjacent to the front screen and back panel)

TIA

What caused those tiny marks on the frame? And where are they located? TIA

I think it's from debris in my pocket. I mean, it's only on the top frame, and I always put the phone into my pocket top-side-down. I'm not sure what else it could be. But I just wiped the metal down really well, and examined it more closely - they're not scratches, but little dots. Very small, basically impossible to see unless you're specifically looking for it. They look like specs of micro-dust, except they're not. Lol

That’s strange, specs of dust and these cannot be removed with a bit of water ? But other than that no micro scratches even the ones only seen when tilting the phone in a certain angle with direct bright lights including the rim (the exposed part of the stainless frame when using an apple MagSafe case by the screen and the back panel) TIA

99% nekkid since day 1 but I have this bumper and I dropped the phone a few times so far no issue 🤞

I have a Gold 12 PM and have been rocking naked from day 1. I haven’t noticed any scratches or anything yet. Though I do have AC+, so in case anything significant happens, then it will be taken care of.

TBH, this device doesn’t deserve a case, but for certain situations, a backup case is always useful. So I am keeping a Pitaka Air case, which is super ultra-thin and lightweight (only 10 gram)
A phone THAT expensive while ostentatious ; yeah AP+ Is a must. Just scroll down to the guy going naked with the 12 mini purple .. you think Prince looks rough all scuffed up? We’ve all seen IronMan’s suit get messed up in the second movie. That be iPhone 12 PM in gold. Lol
in terms of slipperyness is the aluminium just as slipper as the stainless steel i wonder
The iPhone 6/6S was crazy slippery back in the day
Got my purple 12 mini on April 30th, used it naked "while I decide what kind of case I like", and dropped it onto concrete in the parking lot on may 3rd, got the aluminum all scratched up and dented (it bounced and slide several times).

It sits now in a cheap knock off silicon case "while I decide what kind of case I like"
ouchie!
minimal case with great protection for such occasions - Pitaka

I have a few micro scratches on the screen, but you’d have to look really hard to see them. I’m going to pick up a glass screen protector tomorrow just because I don’t want anymore micro scratches. If I don’t like the feel of the screen protector I’ll take it off. Not a huge issue as I’ll be selling this phone after summer for a 13 Pro Max.

I started out with the Apple leather case, but went caseless after getting frustrated with pocket lint building up. All I see are some very fine scratches in the rear glass, probably from sliding around in the car console. They’re only noticeable if I polish the rear glass in bright light. The band has no marks at all, and the black color would easily show scratches.

Only complaint I have with the 12 mini is the battery drain from the modem. I currently have crap coverage with T-Mobile, so we’ll see how that improves after I switch to Verizon. Durability wise, the 12 is stronger than my X.

Apple silicon case only for me. I have used a case with a short cord and ring which fits over one finger when traveling and at sporting functions. It means I can't drop it or have it accidentally knocked out of my hand. Great for boating, climbing, cycling etc.

No scratches on the stainless PVD coating?

I take care of my gadgets and I am a clean guy so maybe once a month. I found this TPU bumper case as well if you want to check it out. Buy two different types of Amazon and see what suits you, if you use the iPhone silent side button a lot then the bumper I use isn’t suitable for you.

It scratches!! It’s only a question of time
A case and screen protector are your only defense. It’s all about how much you care and want to keep the outside of your iPhone pristine

12 PM - Screen scratched up to hell (fine scratches). Personally, I did drop it 4x on hard concrete - never shattered. Minor damage on Stainless steel band. It holds up but I have AC+. I will replace the whole device soon and slap an edge to edge glass protector.

ouch

12 mini - I've got several cases, but my preferred way to use it is with no case and MagSafe wallet when I'm out and about. Haven't dropped it. It's in great condition.

Yes, both the left and right side edges have scratches. I’ve never dropped my phone so I believe it’s from switching cases to often or continued rubbing against my pants as I take my phone outta my back pocket often while using it for work. Noticed it the other day when it hit the light at the right angle.
