I have a fenix 6 Pro Sapphire, and to be honest, it's going up for sale. The OHR is pretty much crap unless you have either something like an OH1 (which I do), or a chest strap for any kind of near accurate heart rate during an activity. The SpO2 readings I found to be off enough to cause alarm unless checked with my iHealth finger device, and to be honest, the only "good" thing that I will miss is the "everything in one place" feature of Garmin Connect. For a piece of kit that cost over $800, it's surely not that much better than my Apple Watch series 4 with WorkOutdoors, in fact, the "relative GPS Strength" feature of WOD is even better than the Garmin. Just my opinion, and to be honest, most of the features of the Garmin I don't/can't use, I'm not training for anything, except to shed a few pounds, and perhaps improve my health, cardio, and strength, and for me, the AW works just fine.
I get your points, I really do, but I've had enough problems with the AW to know it's not perfect either. FWIW, I can write a similar list for F6.
- Intervals have alway been a problem, although, WorkOutDoors, may, have solved this for me. iSmoothRun had too many bugs for me.
- Touch screen is a problem, and, when wearing long sleeves in a workout volume can be accidentally adjusted.
- I've had crazy screwy GPS tracks at times. Have to make sure you get away from the phone and have GPS lock (WorkOutDoors helps here).
- I once had an award pop up during a workout that led to personal best. I happened to have my Fenix on so I got a record of it, but lost the AW track because of that.
- Apple Health is on the right track, in a lot of ways, but it's clumsy. Apple products often suffer from interfaces that are too clever by half or are just sloppy.
- Battery life. With a S4 I was able to do 2 days and could keep the watch running during the week with just charging while showering. That's gone with the S5 which basically has to sit on the charger for an hour / day (I know that's a slight exaggeration, but not a big one).
- Everything is a 3rd party app. OK, Garmin has almost no 3rd party apps, and it's a feature, but it means your data is in a lot of places, not all of which are secure. Hi, MyFitnessPal (ironically, Garmin works with them and almost no one else for dietary information).
I want to sell my F6X, I'd still get $600 for it, but the AW just isn't good enough in it's current iteration that I can feel good about it.
