Always have loved the Apple launches and have preordered their new products for so long and unfortunately didn’t this time around while trying to get spousal approval. That said, I am thinking of doing a mini camp out to try to get in store inventory and for those nostalgia mems (almost 20 years from the first iPhone now, not a teenager anymore so no overnights for me) but curious who else is planning on showing up early with the folding chair to wait it out and get one?

i dont think anyone with a $3500 price point. But if it was me, I would absolutely do the same thing for this particular launch. I believe strongly in the promise of spacial computing.

You can show up tonight but someone who preorders for in store pickup five minutes before they open is still in line ahead of you. I assume.
Well all in store slots are taken that you can actually schedule. As others have said, typically they have one line for your order times and then one for walk ins. Worst case, they will have something for demos if there isn’t stock for some reason. No chance I’ll go tonight. Maybe 4-6am before an 8am opening but I’m too old to do more.

I guess then I don't understand why that first line is necessary....?
Some people arrive either too early or too late for their appointment for store pickups and have to wait until an available Apple store employee can tend to them - hence the line.

The other line is for walk up purchases - stores will have a very limited amount to sell to non reservation - non pre-order folks. Like people just walking by and noticing the buzz in the Apple Store and want to see the AVP.

We better be, I have an 8:00AM appointment 😉. I also have a 2:30 appointment for a second AVP that I hope I can get at 8:00AM. Right now only the 8:00AM device is ready for pick up.

Apple tends to stick with the time slots as the number of Apple employees are limited.

And the employee has a certain amount of time allocated for each customer.

You may get lucky if the employee is willing to get the second unit out earlier.

If not, you will have to return at your appointment time.

I’ll save him time by not going through the setup. I’ve watched so many reviews that I feel I’m probably more familiar with it than the employees😁.

I’m curious if the stores are expecting it.

I wonder if people who want demos are more likely to camp out. Pre-orders already have their slots.

I ordered one for a Wednesday pickup but will plan on getting there around 6am tomorrow to camp out. Have work to do anyways so might as well crank it out while I wait. Worst case I get the demo and then get it next week.

Do let us know if you manage to snag one tomorrow in the walk up line ?

I thought about doing this the day before pre-order thank goodness I didn’t as there are some pretty crazy storms going on

The ones we have going on here the rest of the states would laugh at but Southern California doesn’t know how to handle rain.
