I returned my 4S to go back to my 4 yesterday actually. I can admit I was being a little dumb upgrading to the 4S. My 4 is in great condition and runs like new, but over a year with it left me longing for new hardware. However, after the initial excitement wore off I realized I wasn't doing anything different and almost all the new "stuff" I liked came from iOS 5 which could be had on the 4. I'll miss the bit of speed increase and the voice-to-text, but that's about it.

Before you start bashing I am sure there are peeps with reasons as well as mine.

I bought the 4S mainly for the speed, camera, and dual antennas which should have given better performance.

My issues are based on some heavy use over the last 72 hours since I received my phone on 10-14.

Battery is really bad compared to my iPhone 4

Siri, not really useful to me

Network speeds are just a tad faster at best

Camera this so far is the only thing I give an A+ to

One issue I had was that if you hit the home button three times it activates voice over as a default, however things like this are annoying.

I have also lost contacts and photos when switching from MobileMe to iCloud, the transition after syncing my phone was not good, however not sure if anyone else shares my issues or you have others, or maybe you are 100% satisfied with your 4s.

You can turn off the features you aren't going to use to improve battery. If you say Siri isn't useful to you then turn it off. Now you are getting a little better battery from turning off a feature you don't really need yet still getting the benefits of better camera, antennas and speed.

I came from a 3G so I can't go back since that thing makes you want to smash your head into a brick wall everytime you use it.

I totally understand. It's definitely an amazing update if you're coming from any iPhone other than the 4.

I think you fell for the hype that the 4S was a revolutionary life changer and you've found it's not a lot different than your regular old 4. It is a mid-cycle phone, so you may have been expecting too much.

Myself, I bought a used 4 off ebay and will happily use that until a larger screen iPhone comes along. For me, the hype of the 4Siri is falling on deaf ears.

I think my i4S is going to have to go back. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic phone. It's definitely a bit snappier than my i4, the reception is improved, and of course the camera is a bit nicer. To be fair, I never had a problem with the speed, reception or camera on my i4, but any improvements are welcome. So why is it going back? Well, the screen is a disappointment. It has a yellow tint and the contrast is weaker, making all colours (not just white) look flatter and less impressive. Yes, I'm sure I will get used to it in time. It's not terrible. But considering the i4 was marketed primarily on the quality of its IPS screen, this is a step backwards - something one doesn't expect at this price. When I think of how much time I will spend looking at this screen, writing and reading texts and emails, surfing the web, playing games, admiring my photo albums or the latest movie trailer... I realise how much more important the screen quality is to me than a small speed bump, or even Siri (as fun as she is). Additionally, I can no longer turn off 3G on the i4S, which is going to really effect battery life considering I prefer to leave it off. So those are my reasons, like 'em or not. :D

I'm with you. Screen tone is a big big disappointment for me. Went to the Apple store in Glasgow and all their display models were much nicer. Sales guy tried to tell me that they're all made at the same factory in Cupertino - right.

So it's back to my iPhone 4 - and a wait for what's next. Don't notice any speed difference. I also have an Incredible S and it's much faster than the 4S and has a great display.

Yep, they come to pick mine up on Monday.

Will miss the extra storage but that's all for me.

I bit the bullet and called up to return my iPhone 4S.

There's no question that it's a better phone than the iPhone 4, but I just don't think it's THAT much different to justify the cost of changing from one to the other if you're mid-contract. I have went back to my iPhone 4 this morning and I really can't notice a huge difference. I think that's more a compliment to the iPhone 4 with iOS 5 which seems to have sped up the device considerably.

+1 for me too, I love the speed, the white but do not use Siri, so therefore it is not enough to make me keep a mid version upgrade, besides now that I have iOS5 on my 4 and setup the phone as new, it seems to be snappier and works well, so no reason to upgrade at this time, so I will be returning the White 32GB 4S this week.
