I've had my invisible shield on my MBA since March. No sign of discoloration what so ever. But if it ever did, I'd call Zagg immediately demanding for a replacement.

Even if they discolor, and even if they don't replace them, I would spend $30 a year to redo my skin every year if it needed it. No biggie.

Dear Ms. Zagg, when is the next 40% discount again for MacBook Pro's invisibleSHIELD? I am anxiously waiting for it. I missed out the Halloween sales. Thank you.

It seems Ms. Zagg was offering discount around 12/26-12/31 last year. But this kind of protection is the sooner the better thing. So I ordered BSE.. I don't like BSE put film directly in a cardboard envelop. I really wanted to buy from Ms. Zagg if there is a discount code now but $25 difference is big for me.

ms zagg pls magically appear again...

i will try to pm her...hope she respond

The BSE in the cardboard was not an issue for mine. It arrived in a DO NOT BEND rigid envelope and was pristine and ready to put on.

Tried to put my Invisible Shield on today for my iPod touch and it was a disaster. The front is okay'ish (I don't mind, its kinda outta sync) but the back has bubbles and all sorts... not liking it at all.

I ordered a full-body InvisibleShield each for my white Macbook and iPod Touch 2G (which I will buy when the shield arrives) using the 30% off New Year's special. We'll see how the installation goes when they arrive.

BodyGuardz

I'm also one of those people who likes my "shiny stuff to stay shiny" (as put by, i think, the Invisible Shield people) ;)

I'm also planning on stickering my MacBook after a while and I'd feel better about putting them on the skin than on the actual surface.

BodyGuardz Review IMO
I went with the BodyGuardz variety and I'm quite happy with it.

Lines/Cut-outs Matching Up?

The lines weren't as "precision cut" and perfect as I had imagined/hoped for, but it is darn close and with a little stretching and fenagling, it worked out just fine.

Texture & Feel

Its very smooth to the touch and not "sticky" or anything as some of the other reviews hint towards for some of the other brands.

I have no signs of an orange-peel effect at all, even from an angle and in varying lighting arrangements.

As for a faint coloration, as some have mentioned, I have none.
The BodyGuardz is crystal clear.

Application
Pretty standard application for all of these types of skins (vs. the traditional sticker type that seems to come with the vinyl skins with designs on them--why couldn't they just make a clear version of those for like $10?, but I digress)
BodyGuardz came with 2 tube-shaped spray bottles of the solution (which is basically water and baby shampoo--as per their information) and a tiny "squeegee card" to work out the excess moisture and bubbles.
(this reminded me of applying window tint! LOL) (as pictured below)

Shipping
was FREE! And who doesn't love the four-letter-F-word?!? :p
This was shipped in a mailer tube so that your corners didnt get jacked up or anything, which was a nice surprise.

All in all. I'm happy with the look, feel land the way it turned out.
I'd recommend BodyGuardz, in fact... I already have to a few.

I'd post some finished product pics, but I can't find my stupid cord for my camera! Grrr....
I can try with my cell phone like i did for the pic above, but i dont think that they'll turn out too hot but I can do it if anyone so desires ;)

I just finished sticking the invi shield. It's quite hard the first time. Got everything crumpled out. So stressful. My advice is spray the WATERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR lotssssssssssss....

Not sure whether the water will seep inside my display though through the apple logo... :(

As it got crumpled, I straighten them up but the shield is already 'folded' in some ways and have some marks...Hope in a few days time, everything will straighten themselves out like what the instruction says...

Just finished installing BSE on my Unibody MBP. Looks great so far. Still waiting the 24 hour period, before I turn it on.

The top once installed I think may have stretched a bit, and one of the corners is pushing out past the edge. Maybe as it dries it will shrink down juuuust enough to bring that edge back in. If not, I will have to shave it somehow, carefully to prevent it from beginning to peel off from that area.
I will try to post pictures.
Dealing with the sides wasn't any fun as is, so looking at the other brands and the details they provide, sounds like too much effort.

My MBP will also be inside a Booq Vyper M3, so the majority of it is protected.
My Vyper M3 should be here soon.
It would be nice to find some sort of a small ballistic nylon type case to hold some accessories, like my travel mouse, Power supply, and small accessories of the sort.

RE: Anyone considering the InvisibleShield/BodyGuardz for the new alu macbook?

 I can't decide either! I haven't bought any of the film,
but these are my observations for full body protection:

BODYGUARDZ
- protects top, but has a cut-out for the Apple logo
(some say because of possible overheating of the light)
- protects bottom, but has cut-outs for screws, so bottom can be opened
(2 separate films, one for the main bottom part; one for the battery cover)
- protects front and two sides - left with ports & battery indicator and right with drive
- protects sides of the keyboard with cut-out for power button
- protects the wrist pad and track pad

INVISIBLESHIELD
- protects whole top area, and no cut-out for the Apple logo
- protects bottom, but has cut-outs for screws, so bottom can be opened
(2 separate films, one for the main bottom part; one for the battery cover)
- protects front and two sides - some parts of left with ports & battery indicator and some parts of right with drive
- protects sides of the keyboard with cut-out for power button (attached to the sides, so it overlaps a bit)
- protects the wrist pad and track pad
An InvisibleShield review: http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/reviews/invisibleshield-for-aluminum-macbook-review/

:apple: I have been in contact with both brands through customer service.

Can anyone clarify Best Skins Ever because their website does not have
pictures of products with their film protection. Does anyone have links to
photos or videos featuring top, bottom, front, sides, track pad, wrist rest...
etc. of BSE?

Which products cover the black area that links the screen to the keyboard?

These shields aren't insulators. (The heat will dissipate through the thin plastic.)

Yeah they are. The aluminum will conduct the heat to the air much quicker than plastic, hence why heatsinks are made of aluminum and copper and not plastic. Even if it is thin it will dramatically reduce the heat dissipation capacity of the aluminum. If you coated a heatsink with a very thin layer of plastic it would greatly reduce the ability of it to dispel heat.
