I totally agree with you. I went down to the Apple store on Sunday and they had 6 of these out on display. Of course all of them were the 1.1ghz processor. But while playing with the laptop, I noticed lots of lag in the UI from using Safari, youtube, etc. I wonder if the 1.2 or 1.3 would be better but didn't have one to test. If this is the case, I may have to go with a MBP and wait a few years for them to resolve this.

I brought my 2015 MBPR into the apple store today to get a REAL world test comparison and size comparison. I 100% noticed a difference, and the UI was a little more choppy on the MBR. But that is a sort of a no brainer since my MBPR houses a 2.7ghz over the 1.1 core M. Now its not like OMG don't buy horrible but if you are used to a more powerful machine or this will be your main machine. Its food for thought.

I still prefer the screen size and footprint of my 2015 MBPR, but i do appreciate how thin and light the 2015 MBR is. But i don't travel, other than going from room to room in my house. My preference would be a 14" MBR in the footprint of a 13.3" MBPR but thinner etc. I think thats coming down the line.

They are a little sketchy sometimes with stacking, or even if they bother to check. At least my local BB. I know they won't let you use a 10% movers coupon on a B&HVideo price match. Which doesn't make sense.
Yeah, they won't price match and let you use the 10% coupon. 10% + $50 EDU is frequently allowed unless the supervisor is an *****.

What resolution are you running it at? Also what resolution did you run your MBPR at? Or have a recommended resolution what i should run my 2015 MBPR?

I have it to default right now. Might want to go a little higher without affecting the performance etc.

1440x900 on rMB, on rMBP usually that also. Sometimes 1680x1050 but not for long too much eye strain for me small text, i'm already blind and need heavy prescription glasses.

I modified a file to do 1920x1200 but that was ridiculous unless your face is right up against it.

I'm wondering if 1680x1050 is possible on the rMB with some modifying.

I just don't know which line to add on this one.

ME, I ditched my 2012 December rMBP for the new MB. They cost the same, and since the old one cannot play games on it anyway, might just get one because it a lot lighter. :p

was the one in store running 10.10.3? That can play a big role in UI lag.

I use QuickRes, opens up all the possible resolutions and allows you to build profiles so you can switch resolution with a single click.

Q-6

I didn't check that. I have no doubt this will be a nice little speedy machine for those who don't want ports readily available or a workhorse like the MBPR. I didn't even bother to check what apps were open etc too so that could play a role.

Ehh, I am on the fence. My return period for my new retina MBP ends 4/18. Played around with a new MB and generally liked it. A concern of mine is that I use Log Me In Pro to connect to remote computers and may need to use Windows at any given time and not sure how well (or hot/cool, for that matter) the MB will run it natively or virtually. And there's the odd resolution that could be a disaster with Windows use. I only use 1 laptop and would trust my MBP to fill in for my desktop when needed over the new MB. Still, most of my time is spent doing office work and scrolling through large PDF files, which the MB would be ideal for. Decisions, decisions...2.08 pounds is so awesome.

Glad you are enjoying it considering what you went through with screens on your rMBP! I decided the new MB is not for me and am keeping my new 2015 rMBP.

Star Wars trailer comparison sealed the deal.

Richer colors, deeper blacks without loss of detail on my rMB over my A02a rMBP :D

Closer to what I recall my A018 being like, running hot in color temp on the right edge aside in one part.

How are you enjoying your new 2015 MBPR so far? I got mine the other day and LOVE IT! Its quite the little beast. Still very light to me as i use it around the house. And it fits my bear paws much better surface wise. I was intrigued by the MBR, but ultimately i am going to wait out and hope for a 14" screen version in the future :)

works fine if you avoid serious apps

After 36 hours with the 12" MacBook, it's a keeper -- at least for the way I'm using a laptop these days. (I do all my 'heavy lifting' with an iMac 5K or nMP.)

I don't recommend running pro apps like FCPX, Motion, and Photoshop. I ran some real world tests today and compared those results to the 13" Retina MacBook Pro and 15" Retina MacBook Pro -- both with 16G of RAM. The 12" Retina MacBook just can't compete. Motion only can do a RAM preview of 311 frames of a 600 frame HD project.

Ditto for serious games. At launch, Tomb Raider pops up with, "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for the game. You may be able to play the game, but are likely to see graphical glitches and/or stability issues."

See the numbers here:

I'm on the fence. I bought a 2015 13" rMBP 25th of March and have until the 24th of April to return it to Best Buy with my elite membership. I bought a rMB and am trying it out the past couple days. I'm 50/50, still can't figure out which one I want to keep. The 13" rMBP seems like it weighs a ton compared to rMB.

I returned my 2015 13" rMBP so I officially ditched it.

I got my 2015 MBPR the other day, had they had a MBR in store i would have maybe thought about it or "test rode" it to see. Is there ANYTHING AT ALL, you miss about your MBPR, has to be at least one thing! :D

The 2015 MBPR battery is pretty beastly, on my first charge down to cycle it took me a day and a half to get it to 10% lol. It for sure lasts a hour longer than the 2014 version. What does the MBR get real world? 7-8? Thats not bad being the larger thicker MBPR gets 10 hours roughly. I don't travel, unless you count going room to room in my house lol. So a SUPER long battery is not really needed in the long haul.

I am a BB Elite member so i have 30 days to return stuff. Just wanted some insight from you if there happens to be a MBR turn up in my store.

Well it does. It's an extra 1.5 pounds. It all depends on what you want out of a laptop.

Love everything about it. It's perfect for both on the go and backup desktop duty. I don't yet have faith in versatility of Core M and wouldn't get any other benefit from it vs. the i5 in the 13" MBP based on my usage.

the 2015 13 rmbp is an amazing machine. i just lust for the new design and don't want that weight even though its impressive for what it carries. and i like ports, they're nice haha but i think ill make do.

2015 gets better battery undoubtedly but rmb is no slouch. force touch was so nice on rmbp I'm equally impressed on rmb for its thinness. coupled with butterfly keyboard KB and Mouse are new! similar to be certain but new.

I'm coming from a 2011 air

Gotcha, my local BB said they may get some Friday morning. Ive already played with it twice in Apple, so i know what it feels like compared to my 2015 MBPR.

I currently use the HDMI to push the new HBO Now subscription I'm testing out to my TV. But i know Apple TV is like $65 at BB now of days so i could always snag one of those.

I do, do stupid things like plug my OG into a Retro bit USB dongle to play NES games. But its just for frills lol. I could LIVE WITHOUT ports, but i will ultimately prob need a adapter or two. I connect to a external monitor time to time.

I have 30 days to think as I'm a elite member at BB. The MBPR 2015 is a nice nice machine, and in the same respect so is the MBR. Just wish it had a 1" or 2" bigger screen :)

yeah you're not insane if you hold onto the rMBP. Either way I don't think you can go too wrong, if anything you just have to be willing to live with the performance and one port aspect.

I think I can get around both. Coming from 2011 Air, this will be smooth sailing. Not having a retina display was the main reason to upgrade. I also love this new design (speakers, force touch/butterfly, lack of plastic on the back of the top lid, all aluminum, the gold which I had no option for unless I waited for another model but I really like it and am wondering if I would be better off with Sg or silver, i don't think so though. this coupled with the new design make it look like an entirely new product imo, not a shrunk Air (silver) or iPad/chromebook/other manufacturer. They all have their merits though, I don't think any color scheme is bad honestly.
