My PB G4 has nearly 500 cycles and is still holding 81%.

I think there might be a problem... it says your laptop is over 24,000 months old...

Mine seems to be at over 100%... I don't think this program is very accurate, or it's just hard to get an accurate reading of the health of laptop batteries.

Coconut assumes everyone has a 15". THey have no way of telling the battery is in a 17".

If you go in Prefs you can manually input your battery capacity - which should be 6500 :D

As for the program, it's not doing anything more than reporting the data apple is storing!

Wow....am I just really lucky? I'm at 92 cycles and still over 100% health.

My battery capacity seems to have gone up since I bought it, although the battery is only a month old, as the macbook is a refurb.

Wow... my macbook is on 8cycle. and already 4852capacity 93%, original 5200mAh

Do a few full discharges and full recharges (aka overnight) and dont keep it plugged in 24x7. Ive increased the capacity of my macbook battery by doing so.

I was gonna ask the same thing! I'm at 97 cycles and 93% health! Which I guess isn' t all that bat considering I've never calibrated the battery.

It just means we are boring ;)

I wish i had more need to run on battery - i could do it everyday for a few hours if i worked at it, but it's easier to be-bop into the other room and use it and go back!

question

is it ok to keep my macbookpro charging all the time? bcoz the shop staff told me that to unplug the magsafe when the battery full...
I bought it about a month ago, and my battery cycle already almost 60 and it's not 100% anymore :(
am I doing something that I should not do here??
btw my adaptor just a little bit explode, so I can't use it till I get a new replacement adaptor.

what is the best way to keep my battery life longer?? keep it charging?
thanks

Haha, so your laptop was supposedly built in ~30BC. Proof that Steve Job's Reality Distortion Field™ has now been used by Apple to travel back in time!

I just calibrated my batter in my iBook and it now says the capacity is 28% after 537 cycles. :(

No! No! No! The charger cuts out once the battery is full! You can leave it plugged in al you want. Just recalibrate it every month or so per Apple's guidelines and you should be fine.

Thanks flopticalcube

no wonder everybody cycles are so low compare to mine...
so it's better to let it plugged al the time rite?

because my powerbook G4's battery is down to 0% after 50%... it's happend after I kept it plug for 5 days straight.
I tried to calibrate, but seem doesn't work.

it has 495 cycles with 84% capacity.

is there anyways to fix it?

You could try reseting the PMU:

I keep my MacBook plugged in almost all the time. It sleeps overnight plugged in and it runs off AC power most of the time. To keep the battery in top shape you are supposed to use it for an hour or so occasionally and to recalibrate every month or two.

You are close to the life's end of your battery I am afraid. Actually 84% with 500 cycles is pretty good.

I owned a Windows XP laptop a few years ago and when the battery died I was told it was because I ran it off the power nearly all the time (but not always).
Have batteries become more "intelligent" or was the person wrong?

I'm not sure how to treat batteries now.
I leave my iPod plugged into the power in its dock and have calibrated it but I'm not sure if it's bad to keep using it like that.
I barely power it down on the go before its charged up again.

Not exactly 20 or so but these are my stats, and iStatPro says the same...

I wonder if i can get it higher in CocoNut

I got my brand new MBP the first week of March, and hit the 19th cycle last week. Battery Capacity according to Coconut Battery is 96%; max charge always shows at 99%--weird, b/c after the the latest battery firmware update, it charged to 100% the first couple of times, but since then, max I can get is 99%...

It was actually Steve who helped the Egyptians build the pyramids at Giza. In return for his generosity and willingness to share his modern knowledge, the Egyptians promised to assemble laptops for him for free.

Wow. Your Mac is 2000 years old?!?! Now THATs a sturdy machine.

Kind of OT-but how many cycles can you go through before your battery decline is considered normal wear and tear and applecare will no longer replace the battery?

Maybe it's the MBPs?

Here are my two readings from my 12" powerbook and my Mac Book Pro.

I find it odd that my powerbook battery still has 100% after 48 cycles and my mac book pro only 99% after 10 cycles. I almost always have my MBP plugged in. Maybe I should do like my powerbook and just let the thing drain all the time? (No, I haven't calibrated my MBP since I got it a few weeks ago).
