Not only is the display amazing, but my display has a cooler color temp than my iPad 2, which I vastly, vastly prefer. I hated moving from my nice and calibrated displays to the gross yellowness (which I just did not prefer) of that device.

I was most defiantly blown away, although this is my first iPad, the screen is so beautiful. And surfing the web makes the screen look great.

The pictures and descriptions of this screen really don't do it justice. You have to see and use it in person. Read a page in iBooks, watch a full 1080p video clip, surf the net. It's unbelievable.

I completely agree.

I've moved from an iPad 1 to my new iPad and it is simply an outstanding piece of kit.

About 35% brightness here, although the room is quite low light.

Got a text on my iPhone just now. Read it, then came back to the iPad and for the first time didn't experience the "oh I'm on the iPad now" feeling as my eyes didn't have to adjust to a poorer display. Nice!

i set my brightness to 100% because the screen looks better that way :D I'll probably set it down after a few days when my battery dies too fast. But for now i'm going to enjoy my retina display to it's max potential.

Even though my expectations were set high, it is still a surprise seeing the display in person. I can read a whole eText page from a textbook that is physically larger than 8.5"x11" paper, and yet I can comfortably read the entire page on my iPad without any zooming. The reviewers that said this display simulates printed media weren't exaggerating.

It has to be the sharpest clearest screen I've ever seen. When viewing iPhone apps that's x2 its even scaled and smoother on those.

That's what I'm hoping for, as I'll be reading a lot of pdfs. Haven't seen it in person yet.

I am slightly over corrected for distance and sometimes have a little eyestrain when looking at small text at, say 15 inches on the original iPad.

This new screen is so much easier on my eyes. Unbelievable. Color is so much more vibrant. And the screen is completely uniform in terms of brightness, I see the falloff on the original near the edges much more easily.

If you don't want to spend the money, I warn you, DO NOT LOOK.

I definitely see the difference from my iPad 2. Im just a little disappointed because I have a couple of dead pixels in the screen. It's only noticeable when scrolling on a white screen, which is pretty much every website I visit. Oh well.

Is it any differnt than the retina on the iPhone 4/S ? I assume anyone who has used one of those would be a bit less blown away since they would be partially used to it?

it's like walking around without glasses ....

and then suddenly you put on glasses and everything is crisp

I've been wearing glasses/contacts for 20 years - this was my initial reaction to the retina display

I have the iPhone 4, and I was still blown away by this screen, probably because it is larger.

Should we bother with an invisible shield if the display is so great? Just curious to see if anyone is going to put any kind of screen protection on it.

Quite frankly, it's a sight for sore eyes! If one zooms in on text, the text is not blurry! At least while using macrumors as my source. Like my iPad one, the screen has glare in direct sunlight, other than that it's great. I'm using the new iPad to create this message and I tried voice dictation too! It cool, but very sensitive. One must speak clearly and precisely!

I wouldnt say blown away, but its certainly the most impressive screen Ive ever owned. Since I dont have an iPad 2 anymore I used my HP Touchpad to compare the same pictures and the difference there is just monumental, but part of that was the touchpad.

The most impressive thing so far was taking a photo. I know realistically the iPad is not a photo taking device, but the photo quality was great and looks amazing on the retina screen.

Now to synch over iPhoto and a couple new retina apps...

I have the iPad 2 and just bought the new iPad this morning while the new iPad screen is great I don't think it's that much better than iPad 2's screen. It's better, don't get me wrong but to the eye who didn't know I bet they couldn't really tell. The text to me the most noticeable thing I've seen. And 4G is awesome! To me that's the coolest part. And the camera is a much better.

Received mine at 10:30 And all I have to say is wow! Screen is AWSOME! Crystal clear and not the least bit of strain on my eyes...
