From what I have heard, the people that saw them wished they never existed as well.

Ogrish had some really memorable (horrific / bad) videos of what he did to others. I never got to see what happened to him other than a picture after it was all done.

If a forum needs to be moderated so strongly why bother with the forum at all. Either let everything go or shut it down.
Because MacRumors is first and foremost a business. It is not a PRSI forum which does some business on the side. As such, it is incumbent upon the staff, to make sure that the actions of the employees are held to a high standard as well as the customers when on the premises. If chaos is seen by onlookers and the media, that hurts the voice and income of the business. As such, chaos cannot be allowed, if the business is to grow and continue to have a strong and respectable voice.

The notion that the PRSI should be the wild west where everyone can be rude as they want to others in a single forum, is akin to customers of Best Buy demanding that they be allowed to disrupt the business inside the store so long as no one gets physically injured. That isn't going to happen at Best Buy and it isn't going to happen here.

As I have stated before, we are all guests of MacRumors business. As such, each one of us can be removed from the business grounds at any time at the behest of the owners.

In my opinion, a person who feels he or she can't debate without going off topic and being rude to others, is not a person worth listening to.

There are plenty of other politically based forums where the anything-goes mantra is allowed. This isn't that kind of place.

So just shut it down and be done with it. Have the political theatre somewhere else. It's not going to get any better in there.

Since specific moderation cannot be discussed here, I will just leave it at this. I believe you'd be surprised by what get people banned.

Seems that way. I still contest the results though.

Seems like this is a great way if one were wanting to avoid it permanently, to get banned from it :) - speaking of myself (not meaning to make light of your issue).

I tried.....doubt anything will change. care to share your 3 strikes? I am curious...

It is 3 strikes? I know I've had posts removed before and warnings of off topic a few times. Interesting.

Edit: Ahh yeah annk's pinned thread - I keep forgetting.

As one who was a lead moderator at a very large (at the time) and well known political site, I know all too well about what mods go through each and every day. It isn't easy. All mods can do is their best. They won't please everyone. And as a mod, I dealt with the same kind of complaints day in and day out that are being spoken of in this thread. And like the mods here, I had to constantly be on guard as to how the business was being perceived by the internet and media at large, in regards to the actions of the guests and the rest of the staff. And at times, no matter the decision, there were people who were vocally unhappy. And while I didn't expect everyone to agree or like everything we did, I asked for and worked hard to have respect. The mods and staff here deserve the same.

The problem is what they consider an infraction. It needs to be a tiered system for forum banning. Something minor should not count towards the total. By minor I mean arbitrary that doesn't break any rules.

Back to what I said....I think you'd be surprised what many of us...or at least what I was banned for.

What you have seen before I am sure might have been outright rude or whatever....Doesn't mean that's what is happening here.

This is why the rules need to be defined as what is an infraction. Warnings don't seem to be given anymore.

This is accurate for black and white issues. I’m referring to the situations that are not clearly violations. The “edge” cases or the cases where the behavior isn’t even a violation—-just an instance of the mods not liking what you say. Believe it or not, you can be black holed for completely innocuous reasons.

That is my biggest issue.
