Ya know, for what it costs it's a perfectly fine game. PC and console games run $50+. I agree that IB2 is pretty repetitive. I played it through to the end and then deleted it. My 10yr old likes it... But again, for what they're charging, it's impressive. Graphics are pretty amazing.

About 25 mil belongs to Epic Citadel

This - at least for me. After playing (I guess I should say running) Epic Citadel I was thinking the game that was coming out was going to be based on that demo - and I was sold. Infinity Blade was ok, but it got very repetitive very quickly. Consequently I never bought the second one and don't plan on buying whatever next game they have coming out either.

I'm just waiting for someone to develop an Elder Scrolls or even Fallout type game for iOS. I'd definitely pay good money for that.

i bet its the same game..in a dungeon. ;)

its graphics are good in all but it is just prerendered..

I love showing this game off to people, just to hear them say, "Oh comon, any machine can do that, it's PRERENDRED, show me what the game looks like when you're actually playing please..."

Then turn to look at their faces when they realize I am playing. :)

Infinity Blade is not prerendered.

It's not prerendered, but it is dull after 5 minutes.

Anyone remember Dragons Lair or Space Ace!?

Push the right way on the joystick at the right time and then the animation moves on a little bit.
For their time these games looked amazing. They had kids saying "look how amazing my Atari ST/Amiga 500 is!!", but 10 minutes of playing you soon realised how shallow they were!

For me Infinity Blade is the new Dragons Lair! :)

yes very boring. Download "The Bard's Tale". Not as much eye candy, but very fun and enjoyable.

Haven't played IB2, but the first one was very good.

Thing is, it's like an old-style beat-em-up game, along the lines of street fighter or mortal combat. It's just a long series of fights where you punch and kick with cut scenes between.

You have to look a little deeper though, because those old games were also very popular - and for a good reason. It's *not* just continuous slashing - if you're doing that you're doing it wrong and that's why it's boring :) It's all about learning the enemy's moves and the best counter to each, and to some extent the best weapons to use too. That's where the gameplay shines, and it's a lot of fun learning how to play it well.

If you want to make it more fun then stop using the shield and block moves except where you absolutely need them. Most enemies in IB1 could be defeated without using either, by learning to parry every move and learning to do the combo moves as your counter instead of just slashing away.

The games that I have and play regularly, are(in no particular order):
Real Racing 2 HD.
Pinball Arcade.
iMAME (got it before it got pulled from the App Store).
Rage HD.
Draw Something.

Any others are temporary.

Completely agree with OP. I finally bought IB 1 when it dropped from $6 to $3 just to check it out and at first i was like "WOW!" and after about 10-15 minutes of cutscene-swipe-swipe-swipe-cutscene, i was like "There are so many better actions games out there like flying games, racing games, GTA games, Order & Chaos etc etc that feel more like a console videogame and less like i'm playing Fruit Ninja with Unreal Engine graphics.

All that to say, I won't be purchasing IB 2 unless it drops to free for a day or MAYBE $0.99 just to say i have it :D

Justin Bieber sells records, doesn't mean the music is good.

this times a billion

I find it fun but it does get boring after a while...

When they demoed their engine ( Epic Citadel) i was really hoping and expecting a free world rpg game. Which would be awesome! But i guess the Infinity Blade approach is more mainstream.

Still, looking forward to the new Infinity Blade Dungeons. :D

Personally I find all these 'shows off the iPad hardware' games rubbish as I bought infinity blade and the sky gamblers plane game preparing myself for some good gaming action but got quickly bored of both. I have a ps3 and think I'm just going to use my iPad for games like plants vs zombies, and simple no nonsense stuff which seems more fun on the 'pad.

Although I would love to see skyrim on here.

Absolutely agree, I found there to be a surprising amount of depth to the fighting mechanics of the first Infinity Blade. I was also impressed by now well the controls worked with the limitations of a touch interface instead of just trying to make traditional controls work. I find it very hard to believe that someone could beat the God King by just randomly slashing. I had to get consistently good at parrying before I could manage it.

I think that a lot of people seem to have bought Infinity Blade thinking that it is something that it's not. It's a fighting game with some item management/levelling aspects on the side. It was never intended to be a RPG in the mould of Fallout so I don't think that it makes sense to criticise it for that. As a fighting game I think it mostly succeeds and I certainly enjoyed playing it. It could do with more variety and I'll probably pick up IB2 at some point to see whether that provides it.

Someone mentioned Modern Combat 3, I picked it up recently and I really don't know what to make of that game. On one hand it's one of best FPS on the App Store and I've had some fun playing through the first few levels. However on the other hand I can't stop comparing it to it's "inspiration", Modern Warfare 3, and Gameloft's game comes up short in pretty much every way possible except cost and portability. MC3 being worse graphically is fair enough considering I was playing MW3 on a PS3 but the gameplay is worse too. MC3 is just massively compromised by having to rely on two thumbs for controls instead of the two thumbs and two fingers that a game controller allows.

I agree! However it is great fun for 5 mins and looks fantastic... Perticularly on the new iPad... Which makes it a GREAT app to show othe people because they play it for 2 mins, enjoy the Game, and get some fantastic eye candy in the process!

Smart thinking by the developers I reckon.

Soooo many people use this as one of their "standard" demo apps to show their mates etc.

Oh, hello old dead post.

I thought it was just me that found IBII horribly repetitive. Kept thinking, Why do I just keep respawning to the same ol' slash and dash? Borrrrrring.

Does IBIII improve this monotony at all?
