I'll be waiting for the jailbreak

Why do people still Jailbreak these days?
Its not like it used to be, you can get most apps on the app store now, so is it just for springboards and such?

I don't want to lose Google Maps and YouTube native apps. Period.

If Google doesn't have them ready to go in the App Store on release date, I'm not going to upgrade until they do.

Anyone else feel this way? This is the first iOS release I'm completely unexcited about, because Apple has taken away features. I believe this is also the first time they do that.

I think you're absolutely right. Let's wrap dog feces in a paper bag, incinerate it and place it on Timmy's door step. Timmeh.

Apple did not take a single feature away from you
1. Youtube app removal was due to the license between apple and google coming to an end.
2. Apple maps will give you MORE than google maps in the long run. why? because google refused to provide any more data for apple to improve the google map application.

sometimes, (to the people who rambles on and on) i wonder if apple owed u something in ur past life.

if u dont like it, dont update it. u weren't forced to update it anyway.

(and it's not like you were intending to buy the new iphone (5?), so quit lamenting)

I'm planning to upgrade and hope I don't regret it as, like the OP, I'm concerned about the loss of Google Street View.

Whenever I'm going somewhere that I haven't been before, I always check Street View to familiarise myself with the surrounding area. It's extremely useful & I always find it far easier once I am getting close to my destination.

I really hope Google release the Maps for iOS app asap after the iOS 6 launch & that Apple do not unnecessarily delay it at the approval stage.

EDIT - I've found temporary solution on the forum

I've been using ifindview for Street view while running the beta. it isn't perfect but it does what I need...

No, I definitely won't wait - I'm already on the beta.

The YouTube app is no major loss for me, it works perfectly in Safari. And I'm sure Google will release the stand-alone app soon (with lots of ads).

And the maps, I don't feel they are any worse now than before. I even gain a free turn-by-turn navigation app in the process. The only thing missing is StreetView, which I've never ever used on the iPhone (only from my Mac).

This. We all know that when YouTube hits the App Store it will be much better than the built-in app. And for the Maps app, I think it will be very good overall. No worries here. I'm updating as soon as it's released.

We “know” it? Google’s apps for iOS have been almost entirely terrible.

The recent changes to the mobile YouTube site, like removing the native player controls, removing things like fullscreen mode, and introducing ads before videos have all been terrible.

This is the same Google that completely ruined the Reader web interface over a year ago and have done nothing to help improve it.

And who knows if the new app will be anything more than a frame for the mobile site? If it will be able to intercept YouTube links from other apps?

Probably after the Jailbreak is released. Nothing in iOS6 is that compelling to loose my JB.

I'll also wait to see how much it dogs down the iPhone 4. I can't imagine it won't and if it does, I'll pass completely.

Yes. I'll stand by what I said. The built-in YouTube app has been the same since Day 1. When Google release a YouTube app to the store it will just be better. I don't use it but look at Google Chrome for iPhone. The team have already released some updates for it.

How funny, this play so well along with Sh^t Apple Fanatics Say

As long as Apple does it, it's gotta be the best thing out there!

Don't get me wrong, I do love me my Apple products, but there are several faults with them, too.

This: http://intelliborn.com/intelliscreenx.html

I tell you, disabling Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth after tethering is a pain in the ass.

People still disable Wi-Fi, 3G, and Bluetooth regularly? I thought most people got the hint by now that on a smartphone, these things should not have to be regularly manually managed. It's part of what makes the phone smart.

I used to have to do it on myAndroid phone but ever since getting an iPhone the battery is good enough and the OS is smart enough to manage the power of the radios where it makes it unnecessary. No jailbreak tool can do it better than an iPhone with the radios never needed to be turned off which is how Apple designed it. This is why turning them on and off are not a priority in the Settings and other settings are featured more prominently.

For me, no reason to not upgrade the moment it gets announced, for my 4s and new ipad.

New features, I would be indifferent between google/apple maps and loss of youtube, nor do I jailbreak. So it's practically a lossless proposition.

Apple slightly streamlined the steps required to toggle bluetooth on/off. That shows people still want to manage it manually. I personally leave wifi on, but draw the line at bluetooth.

Nope. Been running the betas, and will immediately upgrade to the GM. I'm not sure i even remember what iOS 5 looks like.

Yep, but mostly cause I plan on selling my 4 and since there isn't much you get with the upgrade anyways on the 4, I will let the buyer decide if they want to make the trade off rather than eliminate buyers who may not want iOS 6 on the phone.

I have thought about this night and day. I have an iPhone 4s running ios 5.1.1. I am not one for change, so i may just stay on iOS 5. iOS 6 doesn't look too appealing to me.

I'll be updating my iPad 3 the second the IPSW hits I MZDL. Not sure if I'll update my iPhone 4, since I'll be giving this phone to a family member so I wanted to check how the battery life is before I update.
