Whilst I'll be updating the minute it's available, I'll miss some of the features. I use streetview quite a lot, so hoping Google release an app soon.

Also I'm fine with using mobile YouTube, but as mentioned it's annoying that you can't go full screen on the iPad.

Definitely not. I always upgrade straight away, and I've been using it for months -- it's great. It's even more refined.

im sure come keynote day, google will push out a youtube app.
i would go for it, i was using a beta, and its such a nice upgrade from ios 5. made my iphone 4, work even better then when it was on iOS 5, was faster battery was better.

two apps shouldn't be a reason to stay

You find iOS6 that much better? Excellent.

I'm musing whether to stay with my 4 a bit longer and that's another reason I guess. I suspect I will upgrade but I'm certainly not going to do so for the sake of it.

Whereabouts in NZ are you? Lived in AKL for 3 years and rather miss the place - especially as we're heading into winter here!

Privacy is but a myth. That horse left the barn long ago.

If you think that having the latest OS makes a difference you're only kidding yourself. The company below, knows more about you than Apple & Google combined.

In iOS 5, any apps have access to your photos, contacts, calendars, reminders, twitter credentials and bluetooth sharing is insecure.

In iOS 6, you have to whitelist apps for location services, contacts, calendars, reminders, photos, bluetooth sharing, twitter and facebook accounts.

There are likely other security-related updates that are important as well.

I'm well aware of the various aspects of iOS 6.x

There's nothing there I feel compelled to use.

Source? That's exciting if that's correct.

I read on the iOS Hacks forums that they have already a tethered jailbreak for iOS6 beta 4, and GM is going to be the same really, unless they throw a curve, so unthethered will be right there first week.

I've updated each beta so it seems logical to update to the final release.

YouTube is not a big deal. Since it was removed, I put the mobile version on my home screen and I find it to be working a lot better. Apple has promised a version by Google in the App Store soon so I don't see why people are worrying about it.

Apple's Maps are much better than Google's Maps in my opinion. It's what Mapping on iOS should have been. I really like them a lot, especially with turn by turn navigation.

Anyway, I bought my iPhone for what it has to offer and it will seem silly not to update just because Apple are changing the experience.

I'll be downloading IOS 6 as soon as I can !
I'm really looking forward to Do Not Disturb , Privacy and the new phone stuff .I'm also looking forward to turn by turn navigation .
Couldn't care less about YouTube , it's been in a folder called Useless since day one.

Sorry to hear that - I was very upset to see that beautiful city ruined. Wellington is a nice city though.

Good to hear about the improvement.

People still disable Wi-Fi, 3G, and Bluetooth regularly? I thought most people got the hint by now that on a smartphone, these things should not have to be regularly manually managed. It's part of what makes the phone smart.

I used to have to do it on myAndroid phone but ever since getting an iPhone the battery is good enough and the OS is smart enough to manage the power of the radios where it makes it unnecessary. No jailbreak tool can do it better than an iPhone with the radios never needed to be turned off which is how Apple designed it. This is why turning them on and off are not a priority in the Settings and other settings are featured more prominently.

Obviously there is a big battery improvement between the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, but still isn't enough. So yes, I do enable and disable all that "smart" features regularly.

If iOS 6 is "unveiled" today, when is it reasonable to expect it to become actually available for download? Can it be downloaded directly from the phone when released, or does its availability depend on my carrier?

I just switched from an Android a couple of months ago, and that phone was stuck with 2.x because Samsung didn't see the need to ever update anything, so I have no previous phone updating experience.
