Yeah I plan on keeping mine. I bought it one hour after they went on sale on iDay (or D day, as the other cell phone manufacturers know it), and at this point it's kind of like an old friend. I had planned last year on getting the 3G and handing the original down to my brother, but decided to hold off on that. But the 32 GB 3G s looks like a good enough upgrade to pull the trigger, so I'll retire the original, as she's been a good and faithful companion. I figure it'll be fun to pull it out from time to time over the coming years and remember what it was like, during those first months in particular, walking around knowing that I carried the future in my hands...

As a 1st gen owner, I'm ready for the 3GS. 3G didn't offer enough improvements, but the 3GS does. Getting off EDGE will be great, plus 32GB, better camera, and the faster processor has me sold. I'll probably keep my 1st and dock it and use it as an iPod and sound soother with apps like Ambiance and White Noise

I'm probably going to stick with my 3G for another year since I've got six months left to do the cheap upgrade. It's tempting to pay $499 and try to eBay my current phone for $350 but I'd have to sign a new 2 year contract and deal with this mess again next year. Not to mention I'll be totally out of contract (not just for upgrade eligibility purposes) and I could jump carriers if AT&T still hasn't enabled MMS by then.

I waited in line last year on 3g launch day and had planned on doing it again. Its really not so much a money issue as it is I'm just not that excited about the upgrades.

My wife and I both have 1Gen iPhones. Still unsure whether or not we want to upgrade to the GS or wait. Our contract is up in December - I'm sure we qualify now for an upgrade - but I want to see a GS in action, as well as see how 3.0 does on the original. Nothing will compare to the aesthetics of the original, in my opinion. I love the metal back - don't even use a case with it, save for a screen protector. New ones look cheap in comparison.

The one thing I would like is more space. But, I was really hoping for an upgraded screen (OLED). My wife wants the video features for the baby...

Keeping my original iPhone from launch day just to keep it since it is so different. Have my 3G that is very temping to sell since I've seen some sell for $300. But I'm keeping it I'm going to use it as a touch. I also want to keep it as a back-up in case something happens to my 3GS. I think I need help. D*** you Apple;)
