Out of curiosity, what about the case improved the button for you?

(Don't have a 16-series phone myself yet, but was underwhelmed by the UX of the Camera Control button when I visited my local Apple Store to check them out. So I've been curious how other people have acclimated to it. Or not, as the case may be.)

What about the case improved the button for me?

I have tried several non-Apple cases and none of them come close to the feel of the Apple Silicone case.

First, it is covered with the same/similar texture with that of the rest of the case.

Cases that have a hole opening are often sharp or uncomfortable.

I very rarely hit the camera button by accident when it is in the Apple Silicone case and holding the phone in the Apple Silicone case is an extreme improvement vs. other cases.

All in all, I would rather not have the button but the fact that Apple does have a Silicone case that covers it up with a similar density of the camera button cover, it is almost non-existent when using the phone.

Aah, I get it. It's more that the case is better designed to accommodate the button than most cases, not that it especially changes or improves the function of the button itself. But hey, if it makes it easier to ignore/avoid the button, that's a point in favor of getting an Apple Silicone case when/if I upgrade.

wish there was a way to have multiple functions. Maybe another action button function with three clicks. I have my action button as my mute button haha. needless to say I find it underwhelming add on. Funny enough there were reports apple was eliminating buttons 2-3 years now we have two additional buttons.

You can go into Settings and change it so it takes a double click to activate it. It goes a long way toward stopping those accidental activations.

I don't hate the camera control button, but it's not a "where have you been all my life?" feature to me either.
I've been using Macs since Summer 2000 & iPhone since Dec 2007.

Pls do not be angry because I gave constructive criticism.

As early as 2015, Android has double press the power button to activate the camera.

That's one feature I wish Apple copied.

Triggering the shutter with volume button is still tops for me.

Camera Control's kinda nice but if you have those other hardware buttons as part of your workflow...

Nope, I might not use it that often but it’s nice to open the camera app quickly. I’ve had zero issues with accidental presses on my 16pm with the spigen hybrid ultra t case.

I have the iphone 16 Pro Max. I don’t use the camera control to zoom or change settings. I find that awkward and the screen controls are much easier. However, i do use the camera control button to quickly open the camera app and snap a pic. For that, i find it extremely useful. Even when my iphone is locked, I can quickly snap a shot and not miss the moment.
