Still satisfied with mine. Sometimes i wish it had a camera, but then i realize that those that do have a camera on their iPad, almost never use it.

I would have said the same but for FaceTime it's so much slicker. I FaceTime my gf a lot cause she is away for school and compared to the iPhone 4 it's so much better on an ipad.

I got a 1st gen 16Gb for just £150 second hand when everyone was selling off because of the ipad 2 launch. I'm totally satisfied with mine, it was a bargain and works brilliantly. I'd like to have the camera for skype but I can live without it. If the ipad 2 had a big retina style increase in screen resolution or a lot of apps were ipad 2 only I would have got one, as it is I'm happy to stick with mine until ipad 3 at least.

I got an iPhone 3GS when it came out and it turned out its full potential was held back as developers put more emphasis on backwards compatibility rather than getting the most from the new spec. I feel the iPad 2 is in much the same situation and I'm happy to hold out until developers stop looking back to the iPad 1 for compatibility.

I have always felt for what I use it for that my iPad 1 had enough cpu/gpu/memory to make it run about as well as could be expected for the type of device. Personally I would rather see 4G support and that is what I am waiting for before I upgrade. I hardly ever tax the system on my iPad 1 but 3G is very slow compared to WIFI and 4G. I have a 4G Verizon phone and the internet crushes surfing on the iPad when away from WIFI.

I mainly use my iPad as a day planner/organizer and to take text and audio notes during meetings at work and with clients. I also use it as a universal email system to have all three of my email accounts all in one place. Lately I have been watching a lot of TV shows via Netflix with my iPad and couldn't be happier. I find it hard to believe any of the stuff I do would actually be any faster.

As a previous poster mentioned, yes the aluminum casing on the iPad 2 does feel different than on the first generation. Cheaper/lighter, and the finish is different as well.

I'm just a huge fan of the industrial design of the original. I feel it's more in line with the MacBook Air/Pro than the 2, which I feel truly is a giant iPod touch, as far as the shell goes.

After having both, I completely miss the feel of the original iPad. I wish I could take the iPad 2 and put it in the original housing. Other than that, I'm happy I moved on.

I'm with ya, completely:) We actually still have one of our original iPads...(my wife and I)...and I bought a pair on release day, a pair of the iPad2s. I love them both...but I DO miss the heft, and the construction of the first with the iPad2. I don't use the original much anymore, my 7 year old son has taken ownership of that one:) But I'm glad we still have one. For everything else though, I'm really happy with the speed improvements in the second gen model.

Regardless, I'll own the iPad3...the day it comes out:)

Yup, iPad 1 goes with me always everywhere. Runs great.

On rare occasions suffer slight lament over lack of a camera (QR codes, augmented reality, no iMovie, etc.) or find an app running a bit slower than I'm sure the 2 runs it. But those moments pass fast.

Will stand in line for the 3 though, assuming it has "retina" display. Here's hoping the 3G chip, and associated unlimited data plan, can be transferred thereto.

I use mine every day. Don't see anything on the iPad 2 that I want or need.

The best "purchase" decision I have made all year was to NOT purchase the iPad 2. My iPad 1 does everything i need!

I watch a ton of video on it, read and browse the web. Gaming too! And it fits all my needs....

I suppose if the iPad 3 has a retina display I'd bite, but I really want 4G capability, that I'd buy day one no problem if it had a 4g chip in it.

Have the iPad 1. Never even considered the two, I had a thread about the value benefits on the 1 when the price dropped. I still feel its a steal @299 for the refurb 16 wifi.

I run iOS5 on it for dev, and it is just as good as it was on 4.

Great product, great build quality, and nice weight. I like it better than the 2.

I love both my iPad 1 and 2, don't really notice much difference except colour. I don't really use the camera. I enjoy using both equally. i prefer the original apple case, as it protect my iPad 1 more then the smart cover.

Still very satisfied with my iPad, I got it when the two was out and I got the wifi+3G version, much cheaper, I hardly use it for graphic intensive or memory heavy apps, I mainly use mine for surfing and reading and news and books and timetable for school, hardly as a music player or gaming platform, except for the multiplayer games and dead space :p

The iPad fills the void when I'm not at my desktop or laptop:))

Typed on my iPad :)

Yes, I'm still using and enjoying my iPad1. Not only does it run well, but the battery is as long-lasting as before; if it has lost anything, it's not very noticeable. It's funny how once the iPad2 was announced several people decided they had to sell there 1s and upgrade to the 2 (as though somehow the 1 just wouldn't work well anymore).

Of course, Apple wants everyone to upgrade each and every time. However, that is silly. Since the iPhone's pricing gets subsidized and has more significant upgrades, it makes more sense.

For me, since day 1, I wanted a higher resolution iPad. So, if the next version has this feature, I will upgrade.

At present, I'm still really enjoying my 1.

I didn't feel the need to update my iPad when the new one came out, and even though I have played with the new one and can see that it is an improvement, it isn't worth the money to me, to upgrade to a new one.

In was until I broke down and bought an iPad 2 today and realized the whole time that I was just rationalizing not spending the extra money the 2 really is a lot better

I am still completely satisfied with my iPad 1. I don't see myself getting a new one until this one dies or becomes obsolete.

I've always loved to have the latest and greatest, so wasn't sure how I would handle not getting the iPad 2 when it came out, but I have absolutely no regrets. Now it's making me wonder if I really need to upgrade to the iPhone 5 when it comes out in a few weeks.

You liked the price drop?

+1

Bought mine used after the 2 came out, best $250 spent. ipad 2 wouldn't do anything more than the ipad 1 for me.

Also totally happy
When you look at how the original iPhone aged so quickly and compare its a different story. The current OS runs fine on my iPad and I can still download all the apps.

When I can't get the latest OS will be the time I look to upgrade I think

Agree totally, however I can't believe you said the last bit out loud! :)
It's bound to happen now.

I use mine all the time for skype. And I'm sure a lot of people use it for facetime as well.

The camera was never intended for taking photos. Anybody who thinks so is being a silly sausage.

Guess there are some silly sausages working at Apple since they are selling iPad 2 with a camera app built in.

Of course they are going to bundle a camera app with it! It's still a camera, but just a very bad one for taking photos.

Check out the way apple advertise the camera, it's for facetime not for taking circa 2002 mobile phone quality photos.

Waiting happily until retina display comes out. Really see no reason to upgrade to iPad 2 if you already have an iPhone 4.

I still have the first gen iPad. Of course it still works for me, I've had it less than a year!
