After using the PC for years and hating Windows 8 with a passion I finally jumped the gun on the 11 inch Air, after the student discounts at BBY it came out 700 ish after taxes. Been pleased with the performance of the 11 inch Air.

Finally got notification that mine has shipped after ordering Tuesday morning.

I picked the 11" for max compactness (main reason I'm getting an Air in the first place) and 128GB HD, 8GB Ram, and 1.7 processor.

I am a little impatient with computer speeds and lag, so while I think I could have used a 1.4 processor, I didn't mind spending the extra money as I plan on keeping this Air for years.

I ordered the new 13" MBA this morning (sadly none of my local Apple Stores had it in stock). Was debating holding off until WWDC to see if 12" rMBA comes out but after testing out the 11" MBA I think I prefer the larger size. I know it's just a minor spec bump but I'm still excited since this is my first MBA!

I got one on Thursday evening as my Apple Store had just got the '14 spec one. First one had a few scuffs on the back side so I took it back today and got another. It's a truly beautiful machine and also my first Air after 15 years with Macs. Definitely my favourite Apple computer so far.

Have a mbp 13 I bought back in 2010, thought it was finally time to upgrade. After getting my wife the MBA 13 last year for her bday, I was so jealous of the size and weight compared to my old mbp. However I wanted something even smaller so I ended up ordering last night an MBA 11 w/ i5/8gb/256gb. So excited!

Wow, I thought I had a lot of APPLE products.

I so want to get the Air but I fit in the category. Got an Apple TV, 2 MBPs, 2 iPads, 1 iPhone, 1 iPod Touch, 1 iPod Classic, 2 iPod Shuffles. That's all that comes to mind right now…

Wondering whether to do the same. I have a MBA 13" 2011 and I'm wondering if I should think about selling it then upgrading soon. It works really well but I'd love more space, it's only 128GB. I'm also thinking I'd get an OK price for it still at the moment. What you think?

My new MBA arrived today and I am amazed how thin and light it is. Shipping took a bit longer than expected. Apple called to verify purchase day after order was placed and it took another day to ship. Very pleased to report laptop is in perfect cosmetic condition. Hopefully the battery life is just as good!

ordered the 11" MBA i5 8 Gb 256 today

looking at the macworld review, i felt like i would be disappointed by the speed of the 128 Gb SSD, so i picked the second model

i5 and i7 are dualcore procos anyway and multithreading needs optimized applications to use it at full capacity, so i went for i5 and added memory

:)

i kind of hesitated to get the first model and to replace the ssd later

Went to pick one up and started playing with it while I was waiting, then I moved over to the Macbook Pro Retina.........wow. bought the Retina right on the spot. Just remember that you get what you pay for and that applies to the Air's. Not saying that they are bad but, the solid build just isn't there. Plus the lack of ram makes it a bit slow.

Guess you got all that from playing with one at the store. Impressive.

That's sarcasm of course

I'm planning on ordering a refurb 13/8gb/512.... I don't see a reason to get the 2014

Totally forgot about WWDC! May return the air 11 when I receive and wait to see if anything is announced on june 2nd. I will be very disappointed if I was stuck with a 11 if they release the rumored 12 retina. Such a hard decision!

Worst part is that I already ordered a BSE wrap and a new screen protector to get ready for the mba11.

I ordered an 11" 8gb/256gb. the $100 price drop to me was a 'free 8gb ram upgrade'

Now I'm trying to sell my old 2011 15" i7 that hasn't left my desk in 6+ months.

Yes, the rMBP's screen aside from being sharper, is also more vibrant, and if you must have more than 8GB of memory, and/or a faster processor or discrete graphics, the rMBP is your machine, but for everyday computing, a maxed out MBA is a dream machine, and more than enough for many people's ordinary day-to-day needs.

It says Early 2014 on mine.

How do you feel about the 2011 15" vs the 11" air? Interested in your thoughts.

I have a 15 and was very much surprised at the usability of the 11". It's nippy the screen is sharp and usable to the point where I am using it side by side with my iMac. I can grab it and go out the door. The pcie ssd makes a huge difference in the usability.

I went from an 11" air to 15" non-retina mbpro and love it.. which is why I'm leaning towards a 15" retina. But I may just have to meet in the middle at a 13" air.

I bought one in the UK on release day, impulse buy but it's lovely.

I did have a Mid 2012 MBP but sold it a few months ago, this is great, after my student discount only cost £644.

Bargain, really.

I recently purchased my first MBA from Best Buy. It was an open box model in like new new condition. With $150 student discount, total came out to $754.34 with tax. Specs:

Screen Size 13.3 inches
Screen Resolution 1440 x 900
Processor 1.3 GHz Intel Core i5
RAM 4 GB DDR3-SDRAM
Memory Speed 1600 MHz
Hard Drive 128 GB
Graphics Coprocessor Intel HD Graphics 5000
Wireless Type 802.11A, 802.11B, 802.11G, 802.11n
Number of USB 3.0 Ports 2

This is my first Apple computer and feel it is a nice compliment to my iPhone 5. Certainly a better upgrade than my Toshiba A505-S6965 which will turn 5 years old in August. Much lighter, better battery life, no overheating/loud fan running, and just a lot smoother than my Toshiba running Windows 7. I was always turned off from MacBooks because of the price but glad I made the switch.

I've currently got a 2011 MBP but I've been thinking about getting a MacBook Air for univeristy. I've been holding off in case Apple announce the retina Air soon. I love the idea of the Air because its silm, light and portable but also because of the reported 12hour battery life which would be very handy for a full day at univeristy.
Plus being a student I can get a student discount from Apple, also later in the year Apple will have the 'Back to school' promotion where if you order a Mac you get a £70 iTunes card.

At previous jobs I had a 2011 then a 2012 11" Air so I'm familiar with it. Because the 15" I had was so large/heavy it discouraged me from taking it anywhere, pushing mobile computing off onto my iPad. It basically never moved off my desk.

Hopefully I'll take the air with me more places now.

Performance wise I don't do much that stresses either this or the old 15". I run a VM that plays windows games sometimes but nothing strenuous.

Yep, this is exactly same situation as me - already have an ipad 4 & iphone 5, so its nice to compliment Apple ecosystem. I also paid exactly the same as your deal. Hard to beat open box + coupon.

Just got a new 1.7 from the Apple store online and it is reporting that it is a mid-2013 even though it was just built this month.
