What I found in a recent phone call with Apple support was that she kept pushing that I buy the extended warranty. I said the phone was only about 2 months old and that it came with a year warranty, why should I buy protection for it when it won't even work right from the get go.

No problem here. Can't seem to make it fail. Maybe the people with problems have big earrings, big hair, bad hats, tiny ears or something......

I've experienced the PS issue a few times, but it's not bad enough to make me want to return my 4, just irritating.
My fix for when it's acting up is to press the home button once - no keypad to dial accidentally!

I love the reception of the new IP4. I dropped calls in some low signal areas with my 3GS and with the 4 i can continue talking but...

I've had the proximity issue happen a couple of times. It usually puts people on mute or speaker phone so that's annoying but it has never hung up.

both me and the wife (the wife and I???) have this issue. Its odd because the antenna problem I can only replicate occasionally and have never dropped a call once because of that.

The proximity sensor issue didnt seem to start until about a week or two after owning it for me. The first time it happened was when I held my phone with my shoulder (to be expected) but every call since then has been a right royal pain in the bum However from the first call my wife has had the issues.

oh and we both have regular ears and neither of us wears earrings !!!!!!

Edit: the wife just downloaded the call guard app and no problems! Shouldnt have to do this but until apple provide a fix it will have to do......

The PS is hardware...everyone DOES NOT have the "problem" so I would imagine that most people don't need a software update to address a problem that they don't have...Apple will exchange your phone if you can show a genius that it's not working properly no matter if 30 days has lapsed...again I ask what effect will this supposed "software fix" have on phones without the issue?
