Anyone else planning to stick with the 4S for awhile longer?

I picked up a 4S on launch day back in October 2011 and I am still using the same unit today.

I've kept it in pristine condition....no damage, cracks, defects, nor signs of physical wear & tear to speak of. I've never dropped it nor had it in water at any point. It could honestly pass for a brand new iPhone 4S.

That said...the battery just does not cut it. I have a mophie juice pack air, and even with that, my phone almost hits 0% by the end of the day. Granted, I am a heavy iPhone user, and am constantly on it for something or another.

I COULD HAVE picked up a 5 last year on an early upgrade from AT&T....yes they would've charged me an extra $250 to do it, but I could have sold the 4S for more than that to even things out.

BUT....I didn't. Had iOS 6 been the least bit exciting and had enough new features to woo me over, I may have. But the way I saw it, aside from the 4" screen and LTE, there really was no reason for me to upgrade. The 4S got all the features of iOS 6 although the 4 did not. Plus the 4G data speeds on the 4S were plenty for my needs, and as for the bigger screen, well....I guess I can't miss what I never had.

To be honest, being that I am on the "S" cycle, having gone from original > 3GS > 4S, I have been anxiously anticipating the arrival of a 5S since last year when the 5 was announced. I'll be upgrading.

I got my 4S right after the 5 was announced and I plan on keeping it until the iPhone 6 is announced, unless I'm wow'd by the 5S or 5C.

Only $6? Wow.

Looks like I'll be swinging by the Apple store then, thanks Mark :)

Click the link in my signature. I show an invoice of the part number (for the shim) and the cost. There was no charge for labor. Perhaps Apple will do the same deal for a defective power button? (Just charge for the button, not the labor.) Worth checking out.

I will be preordering a 5S ASAP. I've been having trouble handling my wife having a nicer phone than me (she got a 5 when she "lost" her 4S in June). Actually, I want the LTE and to be able to hand down my current 4S to my kids as an iPod touch.

Get it when you want to. If you can upgrade now, but don't feel you need to or want to yet, you aren't pressured to upgrade right when the latest thing comes out. If your current phone is doing its job, you don't need the latest one.

I have a 4S that I bought new in Feb 2012 so my contract ends next Feb. it still looks and works like it just came out of the box. I tried iOS7 and went back to stock two months ago. LTE isn't coming to my area, if ever. So I guess I'm staying with this one for quite awhile. If anything happens to it, I'll just activate my Razr v9.

I wish I could stay with my 4S longer. I prefer the design to the 5 and the 5S. I'll purchase the 5S but the 4S will be a backup still. It's also unlocked so it's great for traveling.

Just bought an IP5 on eBay and my 4s is now for sale...After seeing how much faster the IP5 was, and seeing sprint is turning on LTE in my city, I figured I'd upgrade without extending my contract. If the 5s is super crazy cool, I'll upgrade later to it and sell the IP5.

How is your sprint lte service? And what city are you in? I'm finally upgrading to lte with sprint and I'm curious to know how it is

My 4S is still my baby. I feel like my Mini has helped me buoy the absolute need for the iPhone 5/5C/5S right at launch. I'm out-of-contract and we really love it, as we've used it as leverage to get some kickbacks with AT&T (my mother has had her same number since '93 during the Airtouch years, and AT&T freaking loves her and doesn't want her to leave). I don't really want to lose that leverage too much, so I've been thinking of continuing to wait and cop a 5S off-contract after I've saved enough, or even copping a 5C depending on some factors (build quality, feature set, right price, etc.). We'll see. I'll say that iOS 7 has helped me with this decision, as it really does feel like a freshened phone now. We'll see Sept. 10.

The things I do on my iPhone are very basic so I don't really need the latest and greatest. Having said that, my 4S is in fantastic condition and I kind of prefer the 3.5" screen size anyways. I also am fine with iOS 5 (which I still am using) although I may upgrade to iOS 7.

Still using my iP4 as nothing to come out has made me go wow so much I had to upgrade a perfectly good phone.

My plan is to wait for the iP6 which should be a new design hopefully and very impressive. But depends if on the 10th I get that wow moment.

4s

I was eligible to upgrade in July, but plan to keep my 4s, as my needs have changed, and a lot of the things that I used to do on my iPhone are now done on my iPad. GPS is far more useful, for example, on my iPad than it is on my tiny iPhone screen. If the iPad mini gets Retina display, that may be my next Apple purchase.
