Are you kidding me?? CRIPPLED? I have friends with every other kind of phone and they all look and play with my phone with awe in their eyes. If you truly believe that the iPhone 3G is a crippled phone, you my friend have some wild expectations. We can all HOPE for something more awe inspiring, but calling the iPhone 3G a crippled phone is like calling Beethoven worthless just because he was deaf.

I think too many people focus ALL of their attention on the little thing missing and in that miss out on all of the incredible things.

LMAO, that's awesome! Personally, I'm hoping they don't come out with new hardware, but if they do, I'm buying it. It'll have all of the 3.0 updates along with some other features my 3G wont have, so I know I'll have to own it. Also, I've haven't had many problems with AT&T so I don't mind renewing my contract for good service and a great phone.

I guess that makes me the stupid American who has to have the best of the best every second of every single day, right, Kage207? Well, if I can afford it, what business is it of yours? Haters....

To me.. I had purchased the original Iphone, then bought the 3g because it was well 3g and had a GPS, I could have lived without the GPS but I like using the current location to find directions quickly... and the new one will be even faster 3g, and have a better camera, a faster processor and be a better phone, technology needs to be updated to keep up with the Jonse's.. Its the same reason why I bought a ps2, to replace the ps one and the ps3 to replace the 2, the thing with those is it takes 4 years in between, as a business customer for att and the ability to upgrade with out paying for a new contract keeps me upgrading hardware an easy decision.

There's clearly something wrong with your phone then.
Right, it must be my phone if you haven't personally experienced the problem. Oh, wait - maybe not. ;)

Oh and for the record, I'm not jailbroken. The only reason I would jailbreak would be to use Winterboard but I can't stand installing MobileSubstrate because, you guessed it - not enough RAM.

I'm not saying it is my business. I could care less if you get a new iPhone if it comes out. I'm not trying to be mean but I'm not hating. If you can afford it, go ahead, be my guest, stimulate the economy. I'm saying to the ones complaining that OMG I have to get the new one, I r so madz! Those people are the ones I think get in the true way of discussing the matter at hand in the forums.

But anyways, I would like to as the OP why he/she doesn't want to see new iPhone hardware so bad? I mean should I wish that there are no new MacBooks? So others must suffer since I got my MacBook in July last year?

EDIT: The last time I was in London they used Kilometers. Just like KMPH.
EDIT2: I can play music and have 3 webpages up just fine and text in between.

I haven't experienced it either .....

I dunno man, I'm starting to think you complain more than spaz does.

Oh snap! Also, hasn't he exchanged like 9 iPhones already? I don't know what he's doing on his iPhone to make it run out of RAM so easily. I am always playing music on it and browsing. I also have mail running 24/7 because I have MobileMe push on.

Well, I just figure that he can't ride you for being picky on one hand, then on the other hand sand his friggin bezel, get a scratch and do an exchange under the guise of a 1mm defect. And do that over and over again.

just trying to keep people honest ;)

Moot Point really!!

Its Apple's policy to update the mobile devices every year and its something that defines the company as a whole!!
Besides... I'd hate to find Apple NOT updating the iPod(s) per year!

I just bought a new 3G in February, but I certainly do not hope there will be no new iPhone hardware come June. That would be selfish. I don't necessary need the latest and greatest hardware. And I would be disappointed in Apple if they did not progressively introduce new technology. That said, I would be very pissed if the 3G could not take advantage of most of the new 3.0 features. But, for those who feel snubbed that the original iPhone can't handle MMS, time to get a new phone. You get subsidized pricing, there's no reason not to take advantage of it. If not, let me use your upgrade ability/pricing.

OK, I get you. Its all good! I agree, I think there's alot of folks on this forum who bish over every little thing, yet they're the first ones to jump on the latest thing Apple has to offer.

There's clearly something wrong with your phone then. I've never had a problem shuffling through the music on my 3G and "intensively" surfing the internet (5+ windows open) while popping out to use Maps & call people. No stuttering or crashing. Are you jailbroken?

Same here (2G iphone). That's not to say a faster processor and more RAM wouldn't be welcome, but I don't have those kinds of stuttering or lagging problems on my current iphone.

I think Mavis will never be happy with any iPhone he gets. He LOOKS for things to return it for.

Kinda... that would mean that I'd have to buy another phone... well, wouldn't "have" but ya know...always have to get the best and the greatest!

You clearly don't understand the concept of having the most up-to-date gear.

I, for one, hope there is no new iPhone.

In this day and time if you don't upgrade hardware at leat every year your competition will leave you behind. Apply is not going to stop projected advances in hardware because you don't qualitfy for a subsidized upgrade.

Haha, I hear you. I mean, if I had the dough to dish out the money or the new MacBook I would but I'm also happy with the one I got in July of last year.

Personally if I had the money, I might be the one to get the latest and greatest. MAYBE. Highly doubt it because I rather dish my money else where such as sports packages and other upgrades to my car but hey that's just my opinion.

If technology is your only hobby (it's not my only) then yea, go for the latest and greatest all the time. But don't hold up technology (just like they don't with the MacBook, iMac, iPods or other businesses) for ones that just got their 'new' gadget last year. That's completely stupid from a business standpoint. Think about... please people? If you aren't releasing new products to get heads to keep turning then you won't be in business long. Not saying that 3.0 won't turn enough heads, just saying that gotta update products too.

Three words:

Apple is God.

New software = yay
New hardware = yay x 2

The real question here is: will the upgrade be worth the price they charge?!

Giving us current iPhone owners a better deal than they did with the 3g = yay x 3

When you buy a product, you should always expect a newer and better version to be released at some point anywhere from a few months to a year or two later.

So expect a new iPhone to come out every year just as a new iPod does.

I returned my iPhone 3G, terminated my contract with AT&T, and went back to T-mobile. I now have a Blackberry Curve 8900 and couldn't be happier.

I'm waiting for a 64GB iPhone on T-mobile. Hopefully in two years when my contract expires it will be available.:D

I, for one, hope there isn't a new iPhone this year but what that we will get all the information and pics/vids of it in anticipation of a Spring 2010 release. I think the 3G can last well into 2010 just with the 3.0 software.

And the fact I couldn't get the new iPhone if it came out without paying full price for it and an EUF.

I don't care if there is a new iPhone or not. I like the iPhone and all, but I never plan on buying one again. I like what it does and all, but I don't really need a phone for what it does. I also like T-mobile more than AT&T.

I hope they have a new iPhone...

heres how it works:
1. Hear about new iPhone on macrumors
2. Find minor imperfection in current iPhone, take to Apple for replacement
3. Buy new iPhone subsidized from Apple when it comes out (new 2 year contract, but I don't plan on switching anyway, so who cares)
4. List old iPhone on ebay (unlocked of course, as long as 3.0 is unlocked by then) and watch it sell for $500 or more
5. (here's the best part) MAKE more money from buying a new iPhone ($100-$200) than I did from the stimulus package!

It's like I get paid for being an early adopter....I'm ok with that

3. Huh? How?
4. lol... The eBay market will be flooded.
5. Really? lol... Doubt it.

I've had my 2G since December of 2007, so I am ready to upgrade IF "significant" improvements are made. I'd need to see better battery life, more RAM & possibly multi-tasking--yeah, I know that can be mutually exclusive, but I dare to hope. I don't care about storage capacity as much as some do. In any event, I hope to see a new model if for no other reason than to see progress towards what I want.
