Okay guys, help me real quick on this. I had not thought of this. Is it too late for me to return my 16GB unit and get a 32GB unit? My unit was delivered on Sept. 21. When is the 30 days as of? I purchased from Apple online store. If not too late, I will return and get the 32GB. But it looks like I would need to act like the next day or so. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is kind of a big deal for me.

As a followup, I pulled up my online order and tried to do a return and it said none of my items were eligible for return.
Didn't they shorten the return to 15 days? Not sure about that so don't quote me.

In any case, you might want to simply call Apple to find out if you are still within the window.

While the current return policy is now 14 days, they should honor your unit with the 30 day return/exchange policy. It was purchased prior to them changing the return policy. Just call Apple/Visit Apple store and hope they have some in stock to return/exchange.

You may have to go as far as reserving a phone online with Apple's online store. It will be a pain as you may have to do this as the Apple Stores don't have many in stock these days.

Hope this helps.
:D

I know! 64GB is way too small. I'll be getting the 128GB version this friday. jkz

For me, this is true. I'll be picking up a 128gb as soon as they're available. It will also be the first iPhone that will not feel cramped at all.

Nope, 32GB is perfect for my usage. All my music is lossless, but I only limit myself to three or four albums at a time because I like to really get to know the music. If I just have to listen to something not on my device, I just use iTunes Match.

Previously I had a 32GB iPhone 4, but when I bought my new 5 I only got 16GB. Well, I should have known but it is already full. We are heading out on a vacation soon and I basically have no room to store pictures and videos. Since I was buying 3 iPhone 5's, I was trying to save a little money and got all three with just 16GB. I just went through and deleted off as many apps as I could and removed all my photos I already had on it. Plus I got my music files down to just the bare minimum. Now I have 3GB free. Just a warning to others, get as much memory as you can. I know when I order my new iPad mini, I will at least get 32GB, if not 64. Hopefully when I travel, I can move pictures and videos I take off my iPhone to the new iPad every day.

How did you use that much? Music? Movies?

I have pics but I stream music and movies. Only 1 song in music which I couldn't stream bc not available.

This is probably a stupid question but are you using photostream? This will store all the photos you take to the cloud when you are connected a wi-fi (any wi-fi, heck you could go into McDonalds and connect it). Also, I don't store my music on my iPhone, I have that go through the cloud as well.

Good luck!

not all
it's the last 1,000 photos and not videos ;)

The return policy is 30 days for iPhone only. See here: http://store.apple.com/us/help/returns_refund

Let us know how it goes in store. You should have 30 days from when you receive it, I would hope. Call the online store or go to the physical store asap!

Edit: Yes if you look at that link you have 30 days from the date you receive it. So I would go that route!

I'm fine with my 16GB iPhone 4. I don't have to have all of my music or a ton videos with me. I only have 50 apps.

Photos take up the most space for me. I'm still looking for a cloud alternative for those. Dropbox seems like a poor choice, but interested if others on here use it as a primary container for photos.

Went from 16GB iphone 4 to a 32GB iphone 5. I was ALWAYS having to delete things from my 4 because i was running out of memory, i hated it. Not going to make that mistake again.

I went down from 32 to 16, and haven't regretted it at all. At 32 gigs, I was basically hoarding media and apps, and had tons of crap on my phone that I never even looked at. Going to 16 forced me to streamline my phone, but it also meant I was actually using 100% of my phone. With Photostream, iTunes Match, and all these other cloud storage apps, I've gone from being maxed out on my 32 gig phone to only using about 12 gb of my 16 gig phone, and I used the $100 savings to buy AppleCare+.

Google Drive holds 5GB. Dropbox holds an extra 3GB for camera uploads, in addition to your regular free/paid amount.

So yea, that's plenty.

Well I decided not to return my 16GB model after all. What I did instead was deactivate Photo Stream. I also removed several large apps I wasn't using and also removed to Music playlists, I never to listen to. After doing all that I basically have 6GB free, which should be plenty. I got to thinking I really wasn't using Photo Stream for anything other than to transfer my pictures wirelessly to my Mac. Well I can do the very same thing with DropBox and it doesn't keep that extra copy on my iPhone.

As you've found out, there are ways to get by with less memory, but if you can afford it and do utilize it then it's best to get more memory.
I'd really love to see a 128GB model next year (because I work in a basement that doesn't get a signal, the cloud doesn't work for me), though I will settle for 64GB. Since I put off getting a new phone this year, I'm hoping apple can make 128 happen.

3.5 GB free on my 32 GB iPhone, but can always remove some heavy games and videos that I never use.

is fine

Previously, I was using an iPhone 4 8GB that I had bought in December, and I was down to 2.8GB free on that. I bought a 32GB iPhone 5 so that I know I won't have any restrictions ever, because having the extra space will never phase my mind that I need to delete things. I currently have 23GB free from the fixed 28GB of the 32GB. I don't see myself ever reaching the full capacity.

Yes. I had a 32gb 4 but I wish I'd gone all out and gotten a 64gb 5. Apps are bigger and I take more photos/videos now with the better camera so it already uses more space. Plus I like having ~300 albums.
