You explain the cool new features, people are just like "meh.."

Thats because most of the "new" features have been on most other smartphones for years. It only seems like a big leap in iPhone world, not to the rest of us, especially Android users :)

Yeah, most of the people I know don't care too much about specs. I do have one friend from work with whom I instant messaged throughout the iPhone segment of WWDC; he might even be more geeked than I am, especially considering he's jumping from the 3G whereas I've got a 3GS.

People laugh at me at work and say I have a cell phone addiction and need help LOL! I just laugh along knowing they will be the ones wanting to see it as soon as I get it.

I'm a girl and love gadgets! I'd rather buy computers, flat screen tv, and especially new cell phones than clothes, purses, or shoes! I haven't been this excited over the new iPhone in a while. I can hardly wait! I'm on this forum everday reading about the new iPhone, and dreaming about it lol.

It's also more than just a generational thing.
I'm pumped about the i4, and I'm 50. I'll talk about it with a daughter and a son-n-law who have iPhones, and keep up with the latest apps, updates, accessories, etc.
What's more is I've converted my parents who are in their 70's. They love it. My father meets with a bunch of other old guys on Saturdays and has converted 2 of'em. Fun stuff.

Ahh, sadly, I get the "meh.." reaction way too much. Most of my friends have Droids & Microsoft products. They won't even give Apple a chance. *sigh* They're missing out. Apple products are so clean cut, look amazing, & perform well beyond anything I've ever used.

Also, they're not as addicted to their phones & computers as I am. I run basically everything off of my phone. It would be an understatement to say it would be hard to part with it.

Most of my friends are the same way, which is why all I mention is "new design, record HD video + flash, front camera for video chat and a much better screen."

I'll show off things in detail when I show them in person.

I would rather be late and do it right, than first and half-ass it.

Android is the new Windows Mobile, except Google will mine your personal information as a perk. Enjoy infinite beta.

See there need to be more of you. Are you single :p

I'm having a hell of a time trying to convince myself that the new features are worth the upgrade over the 3G S I got for half price at Walmart.

The only feature thats really keeping me from saying "no" outright would be the camera.

But then I go and look at the cameras I can get for $100 and realize that its not worth it to upgrade.

Yes, I had to convince my wife that it was worth an upgrade. She didn't understand what was so bad about my 3G that I needed a newer phone. She's the kind of cell phone user who has a basic Samsung dumb phone and will use the same one for years and be totally happy with it.

God bless her, though, she lets me buy all my tech toys even though she doesn't understand why I need them. :D

Luckily, I can sell my 3G unlocked for about the price of the new one, so I almost break even.

People say "it's just a phone" and stuff like that but really it isnt. It's far from just a phone. 'Just a phone' would be my old rotary phone i have in my garage that doesnt have internet, apps, cameras, or anything besides a spinning wheel and a handset attached to it via wired connection. I hate when my friends are like, "it's just a phone, why are you getting that?" It's frustrating trying to explain to non-geeks just how impressive this device is. Maybe we are the special kind that actually knows how technological stuff works and that is why we appreciate it so much.

One nice thing about the iPhone too is that it can save you from having to go out and buy other things like cameras and planners and GPS's and stuff. You can literally have all your needs in 1 device. Like, why go buy a camera when you can have a 5MP camera and HD footage all in your phone. And to people who dont think 5MP is enough, you will never see the difference on the screen this size. Unless you plan on making your photos into HUGE prints, you dont need to worry about the MP (to an extent). I'm happy with my 3G pic quality, 5MP will be more than enough, and HD footage is going to be freakin spectacular, especially being able to edit the movie completely on the phone and send it straight to youtube so i can start making some $$ from adsense. :)

I am excited about the new iPhone as well but I keep wondering about if all the features have been revealed or should we expect to see more ..?

You explain the cool new features, people are just like "meh.." I'm really excited for this iPhone, especially since it'll be my first, and I'll talk to someone about the high pixels per inch or the gyroscope, and i'll just get a blank stare and a heartless, "Cool.." major buzz kill.

I have a feeling once some people SEE the screen, they'll understand.

You are a rare breed. Why aren't there more girls like you out there? ;)

I'm pretty stoked about the iphone 4. For giggles today I walked into a verizon store. I told my wife that if they convince me the driod was a better phone I would switch today.

Thats exactly what I told the dude too. I slapped my iphone on the counter and said "Att and verizon service is about the same in my area, show me your droid is better and ill switch right here and now"

The the droid incred they showed me was a very nice phone, though it was awkward to use after using my iphone so long. I have to give respect where it is due, I cant say many bad things about it other than I didnt feel right using it, it just felt and looked wrong but thats more me than the phone I guess.

Needless to say, I walked out still holding my iphone. I just didnt see the wow factor to make me want to switch. Of course their mini tower type thingy that would give me coverage in my house almost made me consider it. Phone vs Phone I still feel the iphone is better.
So yeah pretty stoked about the pre-order date right now man.

I've got the type of friends that won't be impressed until they see it in person.

At that time however... I think they'll be jealous with this one...;)

Geeks and nerds are the future!! :D

Everyone else is just behind the curve, and tend not to understand how awesome something is until it's had some time to sink into society.

Half ass what? I will guarantee you that Android's multitasking and notification will still be superior to iOS4's. Not to mention all the other advantages Android still has iOS4 does not like speech to text in any field, native tethering and a built in FREE Google maps with navigation :)

The feature debate has been beaten to death. Its not about what the phone can do, its about how it does it. IMO, what the iPhone can do, it does right.

The UI is why I love the iPhone. Just my opinion.

Oh, and not to mention, the company behind the phone is one of the best at SUPPORTING their customers. Thats not a bad reason either.

My geek friend did this to me, we were all excited, planning on both getting the new phone. Just a few days ago he decided against it.

He says it's the money, But he did just get the iPad 3g, I think he can afford it.

I list off all the features, and they all sound cool, but hes like meh... Ill pass.

I cant imagine what else he wanted out of the phone.
