What makes spotify so unique is that is uses p2p (Peer to Peer) technology to download songs from another spotify members computer instead of the songs all coming from one massive server. This allows song to be loaded almost instantly. Also spotify is the only "legal" p2p program that deals with music.

No I don't think it's overrated at all.

For £10 a month I can listen to and download unlimited songs on up to 5 (I think) devices, it only takes seconds to search for a song and it's very easy to do, it has a massive selection of music and it's all in good quality.

YouTube doesn't even compare..it uses a lot more data because you're downloading an entire video, the quality isn't always brilliant and it doesn't have as big a selection as spotify. It's also more difficult to find songs you're looking for.

What kind of comparison is that, seriously? :p

I disagree. I love Pandora and find that with a little bit of attention a user-created station can be pretty fantastic.

Playing a radio station and having access to full CDs on demand are two completely different things, at least for me. I used to spend at least $15 a month buying a CD, now for 9.99 I have them in my phone, not mentioning all the CD Ive lost/damage through the years that I can now listen again.

Personally, Pandora is nowhere near Spotify. Although I recently stopped my Spotify subscription in favor of Rdio which I like more. Both are great services if you're a music lover. The $9.99/month subscription is well worth it over listening to free Pandora each month. But that's just my $.02.

Let me know how that works out for you with no data connection.

If I have advance warning that I will encounter a period time without data connection, I can simply download the songs or playlists to store on my mobile device, then delete it later. :)

You mean like playlists you put on the phone with itunes, or other ways that already exist?

Wirelessly posted

I used to subscribe to Spotify premium, but recently dropped it because I was tired of dealing with the horrible mobile app. It takes way too many taps to navigate and the way songs in your collection are organized is laughable. The only way to really control your collection is if you sit down and make endless playlists, otherwise you just have a running list of songs sorted by the date you added them. I wish it mimicked the way the music in iOS is organized.

Youtube and Pandora are different services. However, I am going to be subscribing to MOG. It has a much better looking piece of software, it has music discovery functionality, and it has higher bitrate music on the desktop.

Spotify and MOG both stream 320 kbps. I will say, Spotify's inability to add a discovery feature on the mobile app is annoying (the apps it has in the desktop version are fine though).

Spotify is great if you wanna just listen/stream music that you want.

Doesnt really work with Pandora. Youtube works, but lesser quality and more of a hassle.

I like Pandora, but I really like MOG. I can stream songs if I want, or I can download them. Plus I can have the song in 320kbps. Only bad thing is its $9.99 a month, aka $120 a year, for music. So Pandora and YouTube are more affordable, if your are on a limited income.

i use rdio because they have a collections section. i listen to albums more than playlists - never did the whole playlist thing... i don't "steal" music anymore, and i like the community sharing qualities. i do worry about the industry adopting this model and then raising prices though. although the numerous music streaming services help...

Spotify without a doubt is an Amazing music service. Pandora on the other hand is sub par with horrendous music. You get what you pay for, Pandora you pay for nothing and you get less than nothing.

They are two completely different services. Apparently, you don't understand the point of Pandora. Pandora's model also works well with some artists, and poorly with others. It's just a part of that model.

for 9.99 you can listen to any song you want on your iphone

you can load up to 30,000 some songs FROM YOUR HARD DRIVE and have them available for streaming on your iphone

that means have access to all your music, in high quality streaming, with maybe 1GB of space taken up on your phone.

most new releases are advertised on spotify and the apps on the desktop client are decent as well.

I have tried MOG, Rdio, and Pandora, nothing touches spotify. 10 dollars is a steal and it surely will only increase in price as the labels become more demanding.

there are a few issues but overall its still a great service and whoever says its not worth the 10 is too cheap to have paid to use it

Spotify has approximately 15 million songs, from major bands and labels to many local bands. I can select the exact songs I like and don't like. also Spotify has lots of options such as Apps I can have a large selection of music but not feel up my iPhone how ever I can opt too download tyhe music to play on a plane and I can select a few or them all.

Pandora has about a 1 million songs in there library but just because I like the B-52 does not mean I want to hear or David Bowie does not mean I like flock of seagulls or wham

At the end of the day like IOS vs Android they both do a there job and it's what the individual likes.

The whole point to having your own stuff is to not burn your bandwidth limit or be SOL when you're roaming/in a flaky cell area.
