Apple won't loose the bezels. The shape is the identity of the phone. It's iconic. If they remove the bezels it will look like a samsung. And that's why they are there. Think about how many times just the outline of the phone and the home button are used in promotional instances not just from Apple but around the web, that instantly say iPhone without having to see a picture. It's like changing the shape of a Coke bottle. Not going to happen. There's too much invested in it. It's instantly recognizable. It was the same thing for the iPod.

I posted this exact sentiment in another forum and got laughed off for it. It's a bit naive to think conversation didn't happen in Cupertino. It's branding 101.

Besides I don't mind the height. It's the width that bothers me. I would have preferred a 5.3" to make it a bit narrower personally. This doesn't mean that in time they won't be able to change things. If the screen actually went edge to edge it would be narrower. They might introduce a size in between or something.

I do agree with the sentiment that they made one too big, and one too small. 5" would have been the sweet spot.

Yeah... if they'd made it 5 then it would have been pretty much perfect.

Also, I'm with you on the wide screen thing. I would've preferred narrower.

In fact, I think I'm going to let my son have my 6+ (well, buy it from me) and go back to the 6 (I preordered the 6 and then thought i really wanted the 6+).

I love every last thing about the 6+ except the width. I have small hands and the width bugs me some.

I dunno... since finding ANY iPhone near me is like finding a rainbow striped Unicorn (unless you're on Sprint) I have some time to think about it. LOL.

I thought about returning. Today is my last day to do so. I went to the Apple Store to look at a 6 again. I took one look at the screen and I was like there is no way I can go back. I wish there was a 5" but I don't think that means I'm ready to give up the 6 Plus. The only bummer for me is that it's a little unnatural in the pocket, so I find myself pulling it out or holding it more than I would a 6 or a 5S. But the battery.... is untouchably good.

The battery may be the one thing that makes me keep this phone. I am okay with the screen size, because I think the 6 has a decent screen size already. But, the battery? I am in love with the battery. Mine is sitting here at 95% and I've been using it steadily for the past 2 hours. If this was my old 5s, it would've been down around 80% by now.

Speak for yourself, the passport is an ****ing beautiful piece of tech IMO (and many others).

People like yourself probably laughed at the Galaxy Note when it was first unveiled and called it a failure...

Oh my god! That's actually what it looks like! I had to do a Google search to confirm because I thought you posted some old model as a joke. This is seriously what they come up with in 2014??? No wonder Blackberry is all but dead and buried.

I know it's all subjective, but to me that's ugly as ****.

There's ways around having that home button take up space though, like the Ascend Mate 7 I mentioned, it has a fingerprint reader on the back of the phone. I suppose on-screen buttons are an option, but I wouldn't be in favour of that either...

Hardly any phones have continuity between the bottom and top bezels though so I don't buy that - if the aesthetics of the phone were that restricting, we wouldn't have gotten the protruding camera.

NO. I don't care if you are here astroturfing the Ascend Mate 7 but I will NOT accept a fingerprint reader on the BACK damnit!

Return it because of the bezels?? Good god no! The bezels are part of the iPhone's iconic design. You might as reasonably have titled this thread "Did anyone else return the iPhone 6 Plus because it's an iPhone?"

you're saying you are not getting the iPhone next time if they remove the bezels?

Looking to start more fights, mailman?

I'll wait to see what the next design looks like. I'd say the chances are VERY slim that Apple would squander the brand identity they've spent billions creating by removing them.

Right. I "love them so much." Good thing you're not mischaracterizing anyone's posts

I am sorry if I misinterpreted your comment:

. It sounded to me like you were very attached to those bezels.

Now it seems not that much anymore.

Who knows, in 5 min you may agree with the OP that those bezels are too big.

Bad idea. If there isn't an Apple logo on it people here will find it terrible, ugly, pointless, etc etc.

To be fair, most Apple products contain similar aesthetics. It's not too crazy to imagine that someone who prefers that look would find other designs less appealing. That said, I can appreciate things like the timeless design of the ThinkPad series, and the clean look of the HTC One M8. Apple isn't the only company capable of making well-designed products.

I doubt anyone here would seriously assert otherwise. Obviously other companies can create good designs.

That's my point. I guess I was just trying to point out that it's not a sin to both prefer Apple products and dislike non-Apple products on the basis of design.
