The biggest benefit of 4K content on devices like this is a higher bitrate than 1080P. Netflix is I think 15Mbps vs. 4-7Mbps for 1080P. If you have no interest in streaming and just play Blu-Ray/UHD Blu-Ray then this doesn't make all that much sense.

Can you name some of those titles that were allegedly upgraded from SD to HD automatically?

Just announced... free upgrade to 4K from HD.... Called it!

BOOM! MIC DROP CITY!

I agree, it wouldn't make a very good business model for Apple. Why would anyone buy the HD version if they could just buy the SD version and upgrade for free? And why buy the 4k version if you could upgrade from HD for free?

So, for their trouble, Apple would get millions of people upgrading their old movies and see a huge increase in the load on their servers, all for nothing.

I hope Apple hires you to roll out their 4k content so we can all upgrade for free! But I haven't seen much evidence of them operating like a charity in the past. :)

I'm willing to accept your apology now. ;)

I am uninterested in a aTV 4K until there is a 65" OLED tv that I can afford...and I think that's going to be a while.

No reall specs announced. Dolby vision? HLG? HD audio passthrough?

Apple's tech spec pages for Apple TV 4K has Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus support, no more or less than the previous generation. No Atmos, DTS HD MA or similar here.

Very surprising as even laptops now have 'Dolby Atmos' sound now. Lack of HLG will be an issue for live sports and catch-up TV (in the UK At least) as this seems to be the HDR format of choice for broadcast.

What are the new video output settings?

Is there a 24P/24Hz setting included now. 4K movies without this option would be a poor show. Or will it auto select, like my tv does?

What is your budget? I just got a 65" LG C7 for $2,700 and I think they have dropped a little since then.

You can get a 55 inch 4K TV for well under $1000 now. I think Vizio is about $500 with HDR and DV.

The 65 inch 4K LG I bought last year was $1999 3 months after it was announced at CES. It also had 3D so they jacked up the price for that too.

The comparable 4K HDR TV that didn't have 3D was 1799 and I've seen it as low as 1399 now.

I should have mentioned the model I bought is an OLED, so they are a little more spendy. :(

If you don't live in America then my comments don't apply to you. This is an international forum. In the US, there is no 4K programming for those interested in live major league sports, that's only about 90% of the buyers of 4K panels.

If you like watching snakes in Costa Rica and drones flying over Hawaii from 2 feet in front of your TV, enjoy.

Yet here you are telling people there's no content to a guy with a South Sydney avatar.

Thanks for that tip! It may be about $700 over what I would like to spend, but I might consider loosening my wallet a bit if it's a good set. I will look into it.

And because of this I'm sticking to my Nvidia Shield TV. Atmos/DTS:X; HDR/DV. Everything for 199 and even comes with a controller. The remote is kind of garbage though.

Yep, it's great. You were still wrong with your SD-to-HD upgrade claim though. :p

Another thing that will make some people happy: According to the Apple web site, the ATV4K has a GigE port.

Wasn't wrong. You just don't do your research. I Posted many links, you're just having a hard time admitting you're wrong.

I'll be accepting your comment as an apology regardless. You're welcome. :D
