the most ridiculous things ive seen are driving through low income neighborhoods and seeing Hummers parked in the driveways. they are so big that the tail ends hang out into the street a foot or so.

some people just dont understand priorities.
They could have put a down payment on a house for the amount spent on those useless vehicles.

EDIT: Oops. Too late a reply. Beaten by bigandy

Well I think Caterham still counts. ;)

I think once you hit the age of when getting a car is plausible, you'll probably change your mind. When I was your age, I wanted my first car to be an Honda Accord. It turns out, I got a Toyota Camry and i've never been happier with anything else in my life. It's my pride and joy, and thats the special thing about your first car. I would recommend anything Toyota sells or has ever produced, they are really great cars. The FJ40's are neat little SUV's and by the time your able to get a car, they would be much cheaper.

i pity you. :D
at that age, it was going to be a Testarossa or a Countach (or an LM002 for the snowy days),

Just got one last night from the wife.

(geez...four pages of posts and I'm the first one to make this joke?) ;)

I just saw this pop up on the forum spy and its the first thing i thought of. I'm surprised it wasn't on the first page...

How so? if its so bad at off roading why use it in warfare? unless the US WANTS to loose...

Because the military uses an H1 type hummer that is just a beast. It's not made to go on the highway thus it has lower gearing. It has a huge engine, and excellent ground clearance since the transmission is basically in the passenger compartment of the car (that is why it can only seat 4 people and there is a huge box going through the middle of the car.

(you've gotta admit, that would be is really cool cockpit for a car)

An H2 is basically a suburban/tahoe/yukon/escalde. I've driven a Yukon off road and it was horrible.

An H3 is on a GMC Canyon so it probably does a little better than a Yukon.

My first response was " Yes, every morning until I get up and have a lash".

Actually, that's my final response,too.

Shame you guys dont have smart cars in the usa.

The Smart is now in the US. A little commuter thingie, sure, but we tend to have more open road/long haul driving, so it'll be a limited market. What's forgotten in Europe is that what they call countries, we call states. What they call states, we call counties. What they call counties, we call a short commute. ;)

The western US compared to the eastern is more of the same. The Mississippi west is mostly wide open territory. Intra-city rapid transit is essentially non-existent outside the eastern seaboard, and inter-city? Fugghedaboudit.

I love the idea of the Smart, and I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Trouble is, I need 350-400 miles of unsupported (as in, open desert) travel at 80 mph/135 kph between stops sometimes.

Different market, different cars.

You either searched the rules page or know them off by heart. Either way, pretty sad. Another thing, "Back on topic..." has been voted the most annoying post anyone can make.

Oh, and apologies to Mr Lewis if English isn't your first language. Obviously, I assumed it was.
