So is it possible to get 5120x1440 @ 120hz on the Samsung C49RG90 on the Mac Mini (M1) without needing to install any extra scripts?
Does the Mac Mini M1 support maximum resolution / HZ on super ultra widescreen monitors now?

Then it’s disappointing that Apple don’t even know their own products.

Read through this thread or the link below.

There is no secret to getting 120hz or additional software required. I just plugged all mine together and selected 120hz and DP 1.2 on the monitor. Others have had success with DP 1.4

What the hell? The only reason why i havent got the Mac Mini is because of this!!

I have a Samsung C49RG90 that uses DisplayPort, what kind of cable to i need to connect it to the Mac Mini?
Does the cable need to be connected to one of the Thunderbolt ports?

Sorry fort the stupid questions, this is the first time going for Mac, been PC user entire time!

I’ve got several display port cables and they all work. DP1.2 will absolutely work. DP 1.4 is more picky. Yes it connects to a Thunderbolt port.

You must be running Big Sur 11.2+ for this to work.

Big Sur 11.2+, is that the OS that is included with the Mac mini?

and also can you give me a direct link to the cable that I need to connect my monitor with Mac mini? Thx

I'm still having issues with sleep and restarting. I've exchanged the M1 mini and tried 4 different cables and It still won't recognize the ultra wide monitor without plugging in the HDMI and then unplugging the usb C connector twice. At that point I can remove the HDMI and then it sees the monitor. I'm on the latest OS version and the monitor is a Viotek SUW49DA.

I now have a m1 Mac mini hooked up to my 49 inch cable crisp native resolution at 60 and 70. Sleeps and wakes up fine except one evening in a while I lose sound to monitor built in speakers
USB c to usb c
Usb c to display port

Hi!

I recently bought a Samsung 49 inch (Samsung C49HG90DMU) monitor for my new Macbook Air M1. I have read about the multiple resolution issues when connecting.

I just connected mine, and I cannot get the maximum 3840 x 1080 resolution the display has. I already installed the SwitchResX, and unfortunately, the resolution doesn't appear in the options. I don't know if it could be related to the adapter I'm using or a driver issue due for an update.

It seems there is anyone connecting to an Air but only MacBook pro and apparently higher resolution screens. Could you please recommend any solution to me or better to return the display? I feel a bit frustrated about this issue. The icons seem stretched.

Thank you for your help!

Tried your file, and unfortunately not working, the resolution it shows is 3840 x 2160, no 3840 x 1080. I bought a USB C to display the port cable to see if it can fix the issue.
USB c to Displayport cable and SwitchresX fixed the issue. Working perfectly now.

Can someone link me to a cable that works with a Samsung C49RG90 (5140x1440 resolution @ 120hz) on the Mac Mini M1? Im no tech guy, so make it as simple as possible :)

As i understand it, the port that i need to connect the monitor cable to is the thunderbolt port on mac mini? Should i get a thunderbolt cable for it?

I tried all 3 of these and they all work but the M1 mini didn't wake the monitor up with any of them.. I settled on the one that was the most flexible to bind up.

are you getting full resolution (5140x1440) and 120hz out of the display with these cables?

Yes all of them I got the full resolution and 120hz.. The only issue is that if I put the computer to sleep or restart the mini no more image until I unplug and plug back in a couple of time... Hopefully apple puts out a fix for this as I exchanged my first m1 mini with this issue and the second one was the same... For right now my mini stays running 24/7 until they fix this.

regarding the sleep / reboot problem, will it work if using the SwitchresX app?

From what I understand the SwitchresX software only helped people that couldn't get the 5120x1440 resolution with display port connected.. This has since been fixed...

Was thinking of replacing my aging iMac27" with MacMini M1 and 49" Samsung. Seems there are still too many issues to use this as a work machine. Will watch this thread for the news that everything has settled down and the 49" Samsung "just works" with the M1.

There are no issues now. I have that setup using a DP1.4 cable. I get full resolution and it sleeps and wakes perfectly. I do not use any 3rd party resolution software.

Trying to find a good monitor cable to connect to my Samsung C49RG90 that supports the full resolution of 5120x1440 and 120hz on Amazon.se (or .de), but not able to find any. Can i choose any USB C to DP 1.4 cable? or do i need specific cable?
I was not able to find the recommended cables above on amazon.se and .de

Hi PM, I'm just about to invest! Which M1 mini you have; assume either will work as the core spec is the same and should work on the G9
