So i got the this cable that some recomended: https://www.amazon.se/gp/product/B08B3SB5VC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And im able to get 5140x 1440 on 120h on my samsung 49" monitor, which is great.

The only problem now is some annoying message bouncing all around the monitor when i shut down my mac mini (m1) or if the computer goes in standby mode?

Screenshot:
there are no option to turn this off at all on my monitor, which is really annoying.
Are there any other way to get rid of this? Ive tried with two Windows installation (laptop and desktop) and im not getting this message when on idle (or computer off). But im using DP to DP and not DP to USBC / thunderbolt.

Any ideas?

You shouldn’t get that. Looks like the Mac is not putting the monitor into standby. Check the monitor power settings. Maybe turn everything off and on again - could fix a handshake issue.

There are no power settings (except eco, but ive tried both settings). Are there anywere in mac os that i need to do?

This is so annoying, since i have to turn off the monitor manually.

I noticed that when waiting 5 min, the monitor itself will go to sleep and this error message will go away by itself.
The only problem AFTER this is that im not able to wake up the monitor at all. Only thing that seems to solve this is unpluging the cable and plug it back on.
I thought this problem was solved already??
im on big sur 11.2.3

That looks to me to be "an alert" from the display itself, that it's no longer receiving the proper signal from the Mini. It's coming from the display and not "from the Mini".

...Which is what one might expect when you shut down the Mini or put it to sleep (in which case it may no longer be sending a signal to the display).

Pagemakers may be "onto the cause" -- that there is something "not quite right" with the "handshake" procedures that go on between the Mini and the display.

But... then again... there have been numerous complaints about the recent Minis (the 2018 as well as the m1) not "behaving correctly" with many displays.

Here are the "workarounds" I would consider (two of them):
1. Don't put the Mini to sleep. The difference between the power it uses "when sleeping" and "awake, but idling" is so small as to be inconsequential.
Instead, just put the display "to sleep", or reach forward and power off the display. When you come back to the Mini, power up the display again.

2. When you shut down the Mini, power off the display as well. When you reboot the Mini, power-on the display. Does it work better this way?

Dear friends,

today I upgraded my Samsung's firmware to Version 1007.2 - immediately lost all issues. Screen wakes up as intended even when running 5120x1440 @ 120Hz @ DP 1.4. For fun 5120x1440@100Hz@ DP1.4 WITH HDR works as well ! Firmware-Upgrade taken from here:

Hope it works in general

Thanks for the heads up. Just installed the update myself and everything seems good so far. Seems I can now use DP1.4 with no issues.

Yes all of them I got the full resolution and 120hz.. The only issue is that if I put the computer to sleep or restart the mini no more image until I unplug and plug back in a couple of time... Hopefully apple puts out a fix for this as I exchanged my first m1 mini with this issue and the second one was the same... For right now my mini stays running 24/7 until they fix this.
The 11.3 OS update seems to have corrected the issue... My M1 Mini can finally get some sleep...

Just want to see if anyone is running the Dell u4919dw with the M1 mini? I’m looking to pick up a 49inch but the issue with max resolution is troubling. I like the Samsung 49inch as well, but I have been a UltraSharp user for a long time snd I want to stay with them if possible.

I can’t speak for that particular monitor but I believe all the M1 Mini display issues were solved with a software update late last or earlier this year.

Hi, I have a Samsung 49” widescreen monitor and wanted to check that the previous issues still seem fixed? The Mac Mini will be running Monterey so 140hz @ 5120x1440 should be achievable without all the sleep/wake issues?

Thanks
