Quick story to serve as a PSA to check Facebook Marketplace-

I have a S6 and wanted the bigger screen of the S7, but don’t wear the watch enough to justify the price of a new one. After the S8 reveal I checked the used market to see where the S7 prices were at. Refurbished from Apple were 70-100 USD off. Amazon had some better deals but awful filtering options. Swappa had the best prices of the three but was still more than I wanted to spend.

Decided to check Facebook Marketplace, and very glad I did. Just picked up a 45mm S7 in perfect condition with all original accessories for $275. There were several other options for 300-350. (And of course some available for ridiculously high prices.) I was surprised by how many were available, given the fact that I live in Idaho and not somewhere more populous. Seems like several folks ‘upgraded’ to one of the recently released Samsung watches. Interesting!

Few quick pro-tips for anyone checking Marketplace: Search for ‘iwatch’ as several were listed as such. Also, if you’re willing to do some legwork, search without the Series 7 verbiage, since some folks understandably don't know/list that info. Finally, make sure you get the seller’s contact info, or try setting up the watch with them there. It’s very easy to unpair the watch and think you’re good, as it looks like it’s been reset. However, the seller also needs to remove the activation lock. (Mine was locked, but I sent her the info to do it online and we took care of it pretty quickly.) Good luck!

I am just sticking with the S5, don't see any reason for me at least to upgrade at all. Does everything I need. The battery is still at 85% and still giving me the same **** 18 hours or so of life.
I’m sticking with S5 for another year as well. My battery health is 84% & I’m considering paying $80 for a new battery to tide me over until next year.

Got a refurb S7 45mm Alu for roughly $130 USD less than an equivalent S8. Few decent discounts to be had via other retailers on new stock, so went to Apple for a refurb.

Glad I did. It’s perfect, with 100% battery health and a new strap. 👍 Also, I like this colour and it’s now gone!!

Yup. Bought mine at Wal-Mart and very happy with my decision to not get an 8

I have been considering a Series 7 but I can't find any Ti models and there aren't many SS models available either.

Going to drive my W4 ’til it croaks. Right now, I can’t leave the house because my wrist is tethered to my charger.

Someday I may be free of it.

I wish I could buy a 45mm s7 in titanium without having to resort to a last ditch desperate measure like ebay :(

Should have just sprung for it last year

It’s definitely scarce. There aren’t many titanium or stainless steel Series 7s for sale out there, which makes me wonder if that’s evidence that way less people than usual are upgrading this year because of the lackluster updates to the Series 8.

I ended up getting a 8. Was looking for a 7 but only thing I could find discounted was the green. New anyways. Walmart had it for $300. Great deal by all means but not for me. Ended up getting the 8, because why would I pay the same price for last years 7?

I did decide to do a battery service on a series 4 that had 76% battery health instead of buying an 8.
The other series 5 in our family is at 85% battery health so that is good for another year most likely.

Was really looking for a reason to upgrade but alas. Surely Apple will do something cool between now and waiting for the blood glucose sensor. Still waiting though.

Still quite happy with my 6. I did order an Ultra and will swap it out for workouts, but for daily use I see no compelling reason to upgrade my 6 at all.

If you add up the updates from the Series 5, 6 and 7 it’s a pretty significant.

Always on Display
Larger and Brighter Display
Blood Oxygen Sensor
Double Storage
Faster Chip
UWB Chip
Fast Charging
5Ghz WiFi
Compass
International Roaming
On-Screen Keyboard

I could understand not upgrading from a S6 or even an S5, however the S4 is definitely behind in features at this point.

Other issues is that Titanium is no longer offered outside an Ultra sized watch.

Honestly none of those change the day to day use besides AOD, and it’s already a largely passive device. No point in spending $500 to upgrade.

Putting all the features on paper just reaffirms how little the watch has changed.

To each their own. I’ve gone from an S4 > S6 > S7 and the new features are very noticeable in my day to day use. Everyone’s use case is different.

I’m also only upgrading from aluminum models via Apple Refurbished so with trade-in/resale each jump only costs me about $200.

FYI, Apple won't let you do a battery service till it gets below 80% unless you get a nice genius.

Got a Refurbished SS Graphite Series 7 from Apple the other day, and couldn’t be happier. It’s immaculate and has 100% battery health. It came with the Abyss Blue Sport Band which I like. Saved $190 vs new Series 8.

I noticed the same. I see a lot of OOS online so I don't think the stock levels are very high on S7.

I also bought a refurb S7 for about $300 and saved $100+ over an S8. Why not? Still has the 1 year apple warranty.

Just ordered a S7 45mm with cellular from Apple via the Veterans store refurbished section for $368. I wanted the cellular feature and have a S7 GPS now which I will sell or trade in for credit at Apple or ATT.

I’ve noticed a lot of the early deals have disappeared and the S7 is still being sold at full September 2021 retail price. This seems very odd now the S8 is out.
I think maybe retailers are saving their specials for Cyber Monday or Boxing Day.

Anyway, here are 2 more images of my new (refurbished) S7. I can barely tell that the body is green unless I’m outdoors. It looks so black in other lighting (indoors, cloudy outdoors) that I may get a blue Bellroy leather band to go with it. This would clash with a green watch, but I bet nobody will ever notice it.
