I’ve noticed a lot of the early deals have disappeared and the S7 is still being sold at full September 2021 retail price. This seems very odd now the S8 is out.
It doesn’t seem odd to me. The deep discounts were there before the S8 launch. I picked up a new S7 SS from Walmart a week before the S8 launch for $529. After the launch and the lackluster updates to the S8, the S7 is still a viable option…so no need for the “deep“ discounts. Still some great deals though for the S7. MicroCenter has the aluminum models for $80 to $100 off.

I’m not from the US so prices are different here. The aluminium S7 is still £379 in a lot of places which was its original retail price. The only places with discounts seem to be dodgy online retailers I’d never heard of before. I’m sure the closer to Christmas there will be some Black Friday deals coming out so i’ll keep an eye out. I don’t want to pay last years full retail price even if the new S8 took a £40 price hike to £419, it just doesn’t seem right.

ah…okay. In that case, totally agree! If the prices for the S7 an S8 are the same or ”too close to call:)”….no way I’d go for the S7.

Got myself a 6 months old S7 titanium for about 40% off retail, pretty happy with it coming from the S3.

Was initially considering to get the S8 this year but the lacklustre difference between S7 and S8 and having titanium exclusive to the ultra is a turn off, it’s too large to match daily office wear and screen size isn’t that much larger compared to the 45mm.

Yep. Bought a space black titanium s7 on eBay for $450
How do you like it. I have a SB Stainless Series 4 that I love because you can't tell where the screen ends and the case starts. It's just all the same black.

From what I saw online the SB Titanium Series 7 is a brushed SB Titanium that is very different. I understand it has the DLC coating to make it hold up, but that it has a charcoal tone due to the brushed finish.

Yup, found a brand new series 7 45mm graphite stainless steel for $425 + shipping on eBay and got it....spending $800 on the series 8 from apple just doesn't make sense to me.

I was waiting to see what the series 8 had to offer. Just ordered a S7 41mm Nike midnight black upgrading from a series 4 that says I need to replace the battery.

I’m still looking for a deal on an S7 but I’m not completely against stretching my S5 out for a fourth year. It just about gets through the day with AOD turned off.

I think this is the dullest year for the Apple Watch since it was launched. The S8 is barely any different to the S7 and it’s almost like Apple forgot and put all their effort into a huge extreme ultra watch that’s got a much smaller consumer base.

Awesome!! I bought one of the heavily discounted ones from Amazon (S7 45mm SS) just a couple of weeks before the S8 launch for$529. Sounds like you found an even better deal😊

Yeah it was listed for $500, I offered $400 then he did a counter offer for $425 and I got it, can't beat it tbh.

Just get a used one they go for half new price, I did that in January sold my S5 and only cost me $180AUD to swap to a S7. Also did it from a S4 to my S5. Ultra is first watch I have paid full price and new since the S4.
Or if you waited a few months S8's will pop up used, people buy them and don't use or like them and sell.
My S7 was only a month old when I got it.

They def went all out on the ultra, if they squared off the S8 still wouldn't of been a enough of a change for me, I would of ran my S7 into the ground lol

One possible reason to get S8 aluminum is it comes in Silver, unlike S7 aluminum. I don't like the Starlight color as much, as it does not go with as many band colors.

Nope, I was coming from a Series 6, so the seven wouldn’t have made any sense. I think the series 8 is it worth the upgrade if you’re coming from a Series 6 or earlier model. For me the car crash detection made it worth it just for that one thing.

I just sold my 45mm S7 Titanium yesterday for $550 net so very pleased with that. I chalk it up to the no Titanium in the S8 and forced move to the AWU IF you want an upgraded Titanium.

I bought a S7 SS 41mm starlight strap 'very good' condition from Amazon Warehouse here in UK earlier this month for £455 and turned out to be in my opinion like new. Watch was perfect and still had 10 months apple warranty remaining. Only have a few days left to return if I so wish. Not sure if to keep or not. I think its an ok deal considering the warranty and like new condition/battery.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are this. You say you’re not sure you should keep it. Why is that? You think it’s not a great deal? You think you’d rather have the Ultra? You’re not sure you like the idea of an Apple watch on second reflection? Need more information from you as to what your hesitation is. Then people will have more to go on in terms of a response.

In legal terms: “Ojection….lack of foundation”

yes your honour 🙄.

I had a SS 6 and planned to get an identical SS 8. Main wants were: larger screen, faster charging, QWERTY keyboard. That was really all.

Thought about it a bit. There was nothing I needed on the S8 the S7 didn’t already have - so I looked at S7 refurbs on Apple.com at $550. Hmm. $550 for last years model and it would look identical to what I had. Decided to sit it out for S9!

Then I started reading Ultra posts here. Big mistake, lol. Went back and forth for a respectable time then spent another 250 for an Ultra.

Thought the size might annoy me, but it’s great. Love the different style.

We had series 5 watches. There was nothing relevant that was better in 6 or 7 but 8, and the Ultra, for me, were compelling. There really hasn't been much of note between less than 2 or 3 new series. I expect that to hold up for future series.

I was initially interested in getting an 8 when it was announced, but then I thought about it for a few days, and the way the watch is handling temperature reading just wasn't robust enough to encourage me to upgrade from my 6. However, I still was interested in the slightly larger screen, so I decided to keep an eye on ebay, and ended up getting a used 45mm GPS 7 for around $300, so I decided to go with that. The watch is in pristine condition, and still shows a 100% battery health, so I'm happy with my decision! I plan to upgrade only when there is a new beneficial health feature for me.
