I have been using a Samsung Galaxy S2 for over a month on the AT&T network.

It is like it is from the future compared to my iPhone 4 and Blackberry 9900.

They both sit in a drawer while the SG2 never leaves my side. Everything works buttery smooth and very fast. The large Oled screen is the best I have ever used. The 8mp camera has as many settings as most digital cameras and focus to with in inches!

I know that many here would never consider leaving Apple but the SG2 is likely more powerful than the iPhone 5 that everone is waiting for!

no it's not. The A5 is still just as fast or faster in the CPU dept, and twice as fast in the GPU dept. regardless of clock speed. don't believe me, check out this.

Sun spider tests, almost twice as fast. Line pack ditto.

Beats it in every test. I am surprised that this is not bigger news. Might have to start a new thread.

To be frank, I've always like android because it always seems to be one (or a couple) steps ahead of iOS. Take the notification bar for example, how long did it take apple to abandon pop up messages? Hell, to get flash into their phones took a long time too.

I do have to give apple credit for taking extra time to get their features right. Copy and paste on android is a HUGE pile of crap, thank god HTC phones offer a custom interface, which replaces the android copy and paste.

Not me. A5 is better than and stronger. Ice-cream sandwich features are not well known. Plus, I am invested in the iPhone as well. Anandtech did a performance test and SG II was second to the iPad 2. So, the iPhone 5 will be better than SG II as well. iPhone 4 and 5 are better build than the SG II plastic phone. I will never get an android phone either.

I own the S2 and the iPhone 4, and I think the iPhone 4 is better in every way except for raw power.

Agreed. Cick the link in my signature for my personal experiences with the iPhone 4 & Samsung Galaxy S II side by side. To summarise, the SGSII was gone after a week or so.

Its a fantastic phone in its own right, buy comparing them side by side revealed that its not as refined as the iPhone 4 and the large display, whilst initially impressive, reveals its flaws after not too long (looks overly saturated as if the contrast is too high, and what looks like remnants of the back of the screen show through on blank white pages)

My feeling is that if its not as good as a year old iPhone then is certainly not going to be as good as the iPhone 5.

Ive always said I wouldnt touch a customised Android phone after getting the Nexus One then S but I buckled and got a GS II. It's a great phone so far. Blows my Nexus S out of the water.

I'll still be looking into the Nexus Prime and iPhone 4s/5 when they hit. :)

The gf got hers a couple of months back. Screen looks amazing, makes my iphone 4 seems tiny in comparison. Dislike the massive amounts of unremovable bloatware though.

Was going to get one a while back but then just thought I would hold out for the next iPhone. Saying that if the iPhone 5 does disappoint I may very well get the SGS2 in white or even wait for the Nexus Prime or a Nokia WP7 phone. :)

Well, I bought the Galaxy S2 about last month. I have since sold it and now waiting for the iPhone 5.

I bought it because I couldn't wait for the iPhone 5, but then after a week I got bored of it and I was thrilled to get an iPhone again.

I've been really interested in this phone, was considering getting it, although, I'm a little nervous about spending all the money on it, then hating Android.

The beginning of the end?

When the fanboys and trolls on macrumors know as much about competitor phones as the iPhone, then its a sign that the apple reality distortion field has lost power.

I expect the iPhone5 to put Apple back in the game as far as competitiveness, but reports say that it will be delayed.

At this point, only a heavily discounted iPhone4S will keep iOS lean and competitive.

To answer the OP's question.... I am on T-mobile, so I will be waiting to see the specs and performance on T-mobile's version of the Galaxy S II.

I am not under contract.... I bought my last phone off of craigslist for $100 more than the subsidized cost (which saves me $20/month on service).

I might just wait the extra 4-6 months to see:
1. Whether the AT&T takeover of T-mobile happens (i hope it doesn't)
2. Whether the Nexus Prime is measurably better

Why would I get a BMW 3 series when I can get a Ferrari for the same price ?

iPhone is the Ferrari of cellphones

Ill be with android at least until the iphone goes 4G speed. And i still wont switch if i have to give up unlimited data to do so. Im looking more at the droid bionic right now

I was also looking at android for the same reasons. But if you go to any of the Droid Bionic forums and read, you might be like me and settle for a very functional iPhone without LTE.
