My first/current Apple Watch was the AW4, Silver Stainless Steel. I like the feel, look and weight of the stainless steel models - I considered gold the first time, but silver looked classic. I actually like the look of the new yellower gold with this AW6 - I could use the Milanese Loop for the most part, and dress it down its brown, navy, black, every green bands. Anyone else have any variation of the gold SS in the past? How does it age?

I‘ve had every SS model, all silver until the 4, got gold. I loved it at first but it didn’t match all of the bands and it had a brownish tone to it, same as the XS Max. Last year I purchased the 11 Pro Max in gold and the SS watch in silver. I already ordered the SS watch 6 in gold hoping it’s the same as the 11 Pro Max. If it is, then it’s perfect.

I have an AW 5 silver SS that I got gold plated, but they didn’t do a good job, so I polished it off. I didn’t like the SS gold AW 4 and 5 versions because it looked more bronze than gold. I can’t really tell with the AW 6 how yellow the gold version is because the lighting in the pics is pretty dark and I haven’t seen any video showcasing it. So, holding off buying for now until I can get a better view.

I want to see it in videos or in person, I have the aw4 ss gold, still like new, but I’m pretty protective. I’ve looked for hands on review today but found none. Everyone is only showcasing the red or blue ones.

Here is the new gold vs the old gold per Apples stock photos.

That’s a great pic! Thanks. Definitely looks better than the previous “gold” versions. Not quite as yellow as something like the edition or getting it gold plated. Still would like to see it in person or in a video though.

I have the original AW4 Gold SS. It still looks great for me. No scratches. Beautiful. Wear it every day.

My fist impression on the new gold based on Apple stock photos is I DON’T like it. I have always really like the old Stainless Steele gold since the first time I saw it. I agree is not best described as gold color. It’s more of a dark bronze gold. But I really like how it looks. I’m nervous about this new gold. I guess will have to see it in person to decide.

I was hoping they would keep it the same as well but open to seeing what this new colour looks like.

I prefer the SS GOLD on my series 5. The reason I went with it, It’s more of rose gold and matches my jewelry so I guess I’m holding off. Get compliments all the time. Saves me money though!

I have always had silver SS since series 0 but after seeing the gold SS this year (and it looks like yellow gold) I ordered one this morning. I have to wait a couple of weeks before I received it. I'm hoping it really is the yellow gold color in the stock photos. I didn't order the gold last year because it looked too coppery...

Just got back and having to download io14 to set the watch up. The new gold looks very nice. Will try and take some pics once I have it set up.

Really loved the color out of the box. Always on feature is cool. I look forward to wearing this over the next couple of years. Also convinced me I can pull off gold watches in general

OP:

Either that’s reflective lighting or your watch is already scratched excessively when you look at the left side of the casing, and if that’s the case, that would be extremely upsetting if it’s that scratched to that degree already, especially if you allowed the Milanese loop to come in contact.

Those are smudges and the reflection of his arm hair on the stainless steel. It happens on the silver also.

This is what use to keep those smudges off and not scratch the finish or screen, I use it on all my Apple devices. I own 4 of these and use them daily : Sticky Roller screen cleaner. (I clean them with alcohols swabs or with dish wash soap that has no Hand softening solution, hand softening will make it loose the stickiness, also have a dedicated brush don’t use the one used to clean dishes cause that has oil and will mess it up too.

Finally managed to update to ios14 and take some pictures. It’s actually quite a subtle gold and almost looks silver in some lights. I’ve taken some pictures outside. View attachment 955753View attachment 955755View attachment 955756View attachment 955757View attachment 955758
Wow that looks nice with the blue sport loop. I had considered ordering the green (my watch is coming with the Milanese loop) but now I think I might order the navy one. Thanks for the pics - looks nice!
