Have 12.9 since launch, ordered 9.7 arrives tomorrow...I see a possibility of keeping both as I have already been using both my 12.9 and Air on a regular basis. There is a chance now that the 9.7 is a pro with pencil support, I may not use the 12.9 as much and sell it. Have to wait and see.

Nope, makes no sense to downgrade. Smaller screen and less ram... uh no.

After using this behemoth for over a month now - today was first day I sat in my car with it and was waiting for a prescription drug pickup. I took it out of my bag, snapped off my APK, and used in portrait mode with Tmobile LTE. Damn, it was so gratifying to have such huge real estate display. I thought I could not do a 12.9" outdoors in or in a car but now my experience is I can't do anything smaller :)

I'd still love to use the 9.7" PRO camera to shoot images and video. Top quality stuff.

Anyone know if the Pro 9.7 still has the "pro" keyboard, with the row of numbers at the top? Or does it have the same on screen keyboard as the Air?

Good question, I'd like to know this as well. My guess is it is the Air keyboard.

I have the 12.9" Pro and an Air 2 right now. The Air 2 is fine for what I use it for, the only reason I think I would upgrade is just to be able to use the pencil with both devices...but I don't think that is a big enough draw yet, for me.

Nope definitely not switching back to the 9.7. I use side by side apps too often and love the large real estate. I'm thinking that would feel too crapped on the 9.7

However, the Air 2 is starting to show its age a little in that the battery doesn't give me as many hours as it used to do.

Really?? How many hours do you get now on full charge battery?? And how many hours did you usually get before when you first got the Air 2??

Makes me worry about my Air 2 battery life in the future now considering I only owned the Air 2 for over a month.... :/ :/

If you have a mac, run coconutbattery while your ipad is connected, it will tell you how many charge cycles and how the battery life is doing...

I have the mini and the 12.9". I'm looking to sell my 12.9" to get a 9.7". I don't see a need for 3 iPad's.

Just picked up a new 9.7. iPad Pro at the Apple store! Space Grey 128 GB, LTE. She's on the charger now so haven't begun setting her up yet. One thing which surprised me when I was doing the unboxing routine was to find that the power adapter is a 10 watt!!! ?!! I have plenty of 12W ones around so am not going to fuss a whole lot about it, but I WAS surprised. When I looked to see what is described as being "in the box" on Apple's page, they simply say "USB Power Adapter." Interesting.....

It's a TEN watt?! I'm pretty sure my iPad Air from 2+ years ago came with a 12 watt. If so, that sucks. Guess if I want faster charging I'll use the big iPad Pro's 12 watt charger since I'm selling my original Air soon.

Considered getting 9.7, but I'm happy with the 12.5. The screen size is worth not changing, I enjoy the larger screen (Have an Air 2, and Mini 4)

Honestly, I don't even use the stock Apple chargers anymore. All of us have at least one iPad and iPhone so we always seem to be fighting over the charger in the living room. We have this now:

Anker 60W 10-Port USB Charge

It's been very useful for travel, too.

Pulled the trigger and ordered 9.7 128gb in silver to use alongside my 12.9 space grey, it's due for delivery on Monday. Good to see that I am not alone or mad and others see a place for both pros in there workflow.

Not many rumors yet on what iOS 10 is going to deliver but will be interesting to see what this can do for both pros.

and you get 4GB of ram instead of 2Gb plus the very important support for USB 3 not USB 2

I do understand that the 12.9 has support for USB 3 and 4GB that why I want to keep it . I wasn't sure if it made sense to have the 9.7 as the more mobile device of the two?

I guess time will tell but I do know that the 12.9 is going nowhere.

Just checked my charger on my ipad 9.7 thinking yours may be a one off but it is 10w! . My ipad 4 ipad airs 1 and 2 all had 12w so why reduce the charge time of the air's successor? Right now my pad is using a 12w from a pad4

Thank you for validating my discovery! I was really startled because I was just sure I remembered my iPad Air 2 coming with a 12w power adapter....but that was a year and a half ago and I'd already been using 12w adapters before that anyway once Apple released them for use with iPads. I cannot imagine why Apple would have suddenly started releasing this newest iPad with a 10w adapter...... Well, I'll just leave the 10w tucked in the box and go on using my 12w adapters that have happily been charging my iPads since forever.

OK so update from what I have previously stated: I had a 12.9" Pro and a Mini 4 and had no use for the 9.7" Pro. I recently had my Mini 4 stolen, and without being to recover had to make a choice as what would be iPad #2 ... I need something to tote around to lunch, bars, the park when I take the kids, the mall when my wife drags me there, etc ... so after pricing everything out, I just couldn't go Mini again when the price difference to the 9.7 is so marginal. So now I am sporting the 9.7 and 12.9 instead of the mini. So far, I didn't realize till now that I missed the "just right" size of the 9.7. Don't get me wrong, I miss the Mini, and it was snappy for what it was, but taking into account that its 3-4 year old tech for $100 less, I just couldn't justify it. Still haven't taken my 9.7 on a trip yet, which I opted for the 256GB one, so I will likely fill to my hearts content with movies! By the way, for those of you wondering ... Then why 12.9"? It is my workhorse in the office (along with the Surface Pro 3). Just being connected to the ios environment and having such a nice screen, makes it a pleasure to do actual work on. Split screen is like 2 mini's side by side! And its much more convenient to take with me places than my Surface Pro. if I need the Surface to do some heavy lifting, I just remote in and all works perfectly.
