Ebay does care! give them a break...just sad that they didn't say that they will refund me on behalf of the seller. :(

You are kidding, right? You get a form letter produced by a machine and this proves to you that eBay "does care"???

Trust those who've had far more experience with eBay than you have: eBay is a highly profitable multinational enterprise that is utterly devoid of feeling. Ebay doesn't get happy, eBay doesn't get sad, eBay doesn't get angry . . . and eBay does not feel warm and fuzzy and caring towards you.

But, for that matter, neither do I. And I suspect that I'm not the only forum member whose patience has been tried to the breaking point by your steadfast refusal to provide your eBay user ID so that your story can be verified.

applemax - The letter supposedly sent from eBay to the OP was a waste of space when it was sent, was an even greater waste of space when the OP quoted it here in its entirety, and was an intolerable waste of space when you then quoted the OP's quote in its entirety. Please be judicious in your use of quotations - there's a limit to how many times I want to wade through the same pile of horse dung! :D

Well that's just a tad unfriendly. He could have been posting from an iPhone, or something far worse, making it impossible to simply select and delete. On the other hand, given it was pretty obviously a quote of a worthless item, I didn't find it at all difficult to simply ignore it, so I'm sure you didn't either.

As to the OP, I'm leaning distinctly toward the chain-pulling theory the longer this charade goes on. If I'd lost good money in an eBay scam I'm pretty sure I'd take all possible measures to (1) get my money back and (2) get even with the scammer. SOM is, if the posts here are any true guide, attempting neither. He's not working with the police, he's not enlisting the help of the community, he's not publishing any useful details that would help any of us safeguard ourselves against the same scammer, and he's not actually doing anything except posting the 'story' here and prolonging it beyond much sense of reality. If the object is to help ensure the scammer doesn't get away with it and take others too, then this is so far from the way to actually achieve it that it's a rather tired looking joke by day whatever-this-is.

I wasn't thinking this way until the posted "letter" from eBay which is filled with the most embarrassingly bad grammar I've seen lately. If I received an email like that I would've junk-mailed it as an obvious spam. "I’m sorry to hear this transaction is causing you much worries and
inconvenience."
Wha... huh?

But then, I've never received a dispute-related email from eBay, either. Whatever. OP - which is it? You having one on us, or were you truly had?

An explanation...

To all my friends here, I promise that I will definitely update my progress here and then finally bring this issue to a close. I have my reasons of not disclosing as much as I wanted to and I am sorry for that. (sorry tiger :D)

In regards to protecting future buyers from him, I have updated my feedback and followed up on his reply to my feedback. His reply was really untrue and nasty. If buyers still buy from him after reading my feedback in the ebay site and ebay does not block his account after my report to ebay, then I really got nothing else to do to protect his potential victims.

I hope that this story and the eventual closing of this story will help others from getting into my situation AND getting out of this situation.

By all means, please continue to post meaningful suggestions and I will update as necessary on what actions I have done and the results that I have achieved.

I really appreciate your time and effort of reading this thread and no offense is really taken for not believing me. I totally understand from your point of view.

nhcowboy1...haha...u clearly underestimate me...

and oh yeah..that's the message from your 'highly profitably multinational enterprise'

Hey,
Son of Matrix is this your ebay account. Are you also in the UK? Are you the one?

If I knew the town or your exact location in the UK, I could look for a completed auction and find your transaction. If you actually bought this item there will be a completed listing; I'll let someone else find it and have some fun.

Interesting. MBP sold for £1300 on 31-Mar-08 21:14:50 BST. In the feedback section for the seller:

Brand new UK version Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch 2.5Ghz (#140220309640) £1,300.00

Feedback from buyer plough79 (07-Apr-08 22:45)
Seller confirm receipt of payment but no contact after that to deliver laptop

TOTAL IDIOT AND TIMEWASTER! MAKES PAYPAL PAYMENT WHEN WE DONT ACCEPT!

Follow-up by plough79 (09-Apr-08 23:40):
Paid to your bank account. You confirmed. Check your ebay msg/sms and reply pls.

This one?

Strange auction, claims not to accept paypal. But Paypal is accepted. Very odd. Anyway, it might not be the one.

Bingo

Well done - think you found it. I wonder if SOM is telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? With respect, we are getting quite a biased view here as the seller can't tell us why he didn't send it.

Time frame and feedback Info sounds about right, but not the buyers name.

It's definitely the one! The OP copied this photo from the Ebay listing.....

....in to another thread, he wanted to know if the screen was glossy or matte - and he said he'd bought it.

So the OP's Ebay username is plough79.

lol I bet the OP is pissing himself right now - we know so much about this now! but op, we're on your side, for the moment :D :p

Oh Lord, the seller has sold four MacBook Pros in the last 10 days, including the one to the OP....and nobody has left feedback yet. How many people did the OP say he'd warned?

Ya, witness the power of the internet in action :D Ah, don't worry about us knowing your name.

It's interesting, in that thread, it's proven that the image is of a 17 inch MBP, yet the sale is of a 15 incher.

That's a bit more evidence that the seller is scamming.

We could still do with a bit more info from the OP.

If this turns out to be the case, (that the OP has been had) I've got a big heaping helping of "sorry for thinking you were up to no good" ready...

Curiouser and curiouser....:eek::p

Me too . I was honestly convinced that the OP was actually the seller....so now I feel very bad. Looks to me like his story's straight, based on that listing, the feedback, etc. And it also looks for certain that he's the victim of yet another Ebay ****bag.

Sorry OP.

Is this the seller "Reviews Written by
Johanna Stephenson "maduraigal" (NORWICH, UK)".
What do you all think?

if it's a hijacked account, then probably not........the feedback on the ebay account is based heavily on feedback for the account holder as a "buyer" of CDs. Suddenly this account is selling macbook pros? Several of them all at the same time? That's pretty typical of a hijacked account.

Ohhhh so the seller replied you on eBay with feedback, so he is being a perfect idiot..... he replied nastily when he is in the wrong.......

SOM, I am on your side, and hope that you are compensated, I dont want to rub it in, but next time verify the legitimacy of seller before buying, thats if you will ever use Ebay again.

best of luck bro.

Yes I definitely was cheated. I was selling an iPhone 8 gb to some foreign guy and it was up on ebay the day of launch.... he said he "sent me the money" but really all he did was send me a fraudulent paypal email which I luckly got read just in time to get the iPhone back from the post office. Well paypal got ahold of him so. ;) And as they say.. the rest is history.

Changes to Ebay Australia's payment structure

In Australia, Ebay have made the decision that from June 2008 onwards payments can only be made via COD or Paypal.

Under the changes, direct deposits, money orders and personal cheques will no longer be listed as a payment option after June 17

I guess this helps protect buyers somewhat, but also helps fill Ebays pockets through increased Paypal usage!
