crashed once only when visiting gamespot, which is pretty damn good compared to 2.0.2.

I can crash Safari any minute I want. It's easy: Just listen to some music and then go to one of the following sites:
forums.appleinsider.com : Try scrolling up and down, at some point Safari will exit
www.eurosport.de Safari will become very slow and eventually exit
www.kicker.de Safari will become unresponsive

For me nothing has changed with 2.1. Safari remains a beta software..

I have filed a bug report with Apple months ago and they have acknowledged the issue.

On second thought it just froze on me now whilst trying the eurosport site, the phone wouldnt respond to anything and i had to reset. On second try it worked albeit slowly...very slowly but it didn't crash on me. I think there's something on that site thats giving mobile safari troubles

Appleinsider forums worked fine for me as did Kicker

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

crashing just as often as pre-2.1 for me. About a dozen times since updating on Friday. Seems worst either when I'm using forms, typing lag deteriorates before finally crashing back to home screen; or just browsing apples website always throws me out. Quite ironic really. Also on a separate note, battery life seems worse if anything since the upgrade. Ok, apps are faster to install, but that's about the only improvement I've seen so far. And I did a full restore to the new software! Don't have a vast number of apps installed, maybe 15 or so. So not too impressed really considering all they promised.

I haven't had any visible crashes in Safari, no. None of those good old crashes where Safari just disappears and you're back to the home screen. But the $64K question is, can Safari be crashing without anyone noticing? Can it crash in the background or get stuck in a loop on exit?

Quite a few people including myself have reported after updating to 2.1 that something is bleeding the battery dry and adding hours and hours to the Usage statistics, even though the phone has been on standby. I can't recall using anything other than Safari before I put my iPhone to sleep that time when I woke up and found the battery down from a full charge to 50% after 12 hours, despite having disabled BT, 3G, LS, Fetch and Push.

Right now I'm getting excellent battery life because I rebooted the phone before putting it on standby, ensuring that all apps are killed. With 3G, fetch and WiFi enabled, 1h 14m of usage and 17h 41m of standby, it's still showing a full charge. This was never possible before with 3G enabled. But I still don't want to reboot the phone all the time just to kill undead apps...

The only crash I have had so far is on the vonage website, specifically the call forward page ... ;-)

When it doesn't crash it performs terribly slow !

2.1 should really have been the original release software - ie 2.0 and even with its bugs and missing features, i will not be firing up my old treo ! lol The reason i buy apple products is because i know the support is there, and it will get fixed :)

I don't think most of us are intentionally trying to make our phones crash.

Engadget used to be a pretty reliable crasher for me on 2.0>. But fingers crossed it is still to crash on me yet.

No difference at all with 2.0.2 -> 2.1: Safari crashes as often as it ever has, which isn't massively frequent but enough to be annoying

Safari used to crash a fair bid, since 2.1 it only ceased once, 5 minutes ago - ironicaly it was in this forum too :)

A page that was guaranteed to crash it was www.funtasticus.com but even that seems ok now.

Very rarely had any crashes in before but, after upgrade to 2.1, get screen freezes and black screen of death all the time. Happened 5-10 times yesterday throughout the day. Never had the black screen before. Select a link on a site or try to open a new site and the screen goes completely black except for the status bar at the top. It stays frozen like this for 5-10 seconds and then goes to the homescreen. A few times, it never went to the home screen and I had to do a reset. Everything else about the update is great but the safari crashing is very annoying especially since it never happend for me pre update.

Crashes more than previous fm versions. It's to a point where it's annoying. Happens at bad times. WTF? 2.1.1 WHEN:eek:
