It finally came! I'm so happy, this thing is everything I thought it'd be and then some! Hurray!! :D

The LED is really BRIGHT! So bright in fact that I can't stand to have it on full brightness or else it hurts my eyes. :D ;)

can you send some pics of your mac? and display?

Awesome BklynKid!

I so wish I was home today. My laptop was delivered around the same time as yours. I live in Manhattan.

How does the screen look?

The screen is sick! As i mentioned, I can't even handle the screen at full brightness. One tip, calibrate the screen right away when you get it, the colors start looking even better.

Here's some shots and sorts for people, sorry if they suck. :p

Nice, doesn't look like any yellowing at the bottom either. Looks like a matte screen too, is that correct?

Yea that yellowing test was the first thing I ran. It is indeed the matte, good eye.

I'm not sure of the model screen, I'll check that when I get back to OSX (I'm in Windows installing Orange Box).

(yea I dread using Windows now)

Sweet. I started a thread for all of us with the high-res matte screens. Post your info in there if you don't mind!

Should be interesting to see if they are all the same model. If so, then your experience bodes well for the rest of us!

BklynKid: Awesome pictures! Can't wait to get mine. But you said "calibrate the screen right away" How do I do this? And with which settings for best quality? :)

There's a option for that right from the display settings. I went with the simple wizard (there was also an advanced option) and it gave me a few choices and I clicked and saw which one I liked the best. Can't remember what I chose but you should have no problem getting yours looking its best.

Guys, I started another thread because my MBP gets pretty hot. When yours comes in make sure you report your temps in some form or fasion. Thanks

actually white leds are blue :) the camera just picks up on it more than the eye :)

Man this thing is beautiful! When I first turned it I felt like a vampire in daylight. Reinstalling OSX now.

9C79 here too and damn, the screen is impressive. While doing the installs and updates I had the Powerbook G4 17" (1440x900), ACD 30" and the new MBP side by side, all calibrated with the same device. The mbp simply blows the Powerbook away and comes very, very close to the quality of the ACD.

Drool.... sweeeet!! Damn I want a 17" mbp so bad now!!

I'm actually considering selling the 2.4ghz SR mbp and put in the extra $$ for one! I love the 17"

Also man I wish I could see that screen in life, I'm staring at the 15" mbp led (matte) screen and its absolutely beautiful everytime I look at it.

Damn you 17" hi res... all the apple store's in my area are out~!

you can also get the real screen calibrators, they're really cheap now on amazon and ebay. get a huey pantone or spyder2express :)

i use a spyder2express and it's proven invaluable especially that i do photo editing

Ah, yes but I only wanted to hear how he meant by calibrated the screen. I thought he had a tool or something (applications), not a whole bunch of screen calibrators.. That's unnecessary I think :)

I use spyder2express to calibrate my screens. Very simple, install software, plug in device, run calibration - 20 mins later done.

First annoyance though:

Plug in generic usb mouse, set primary button as the right button and the trackpad buttons swap functionality too making it unusable. The old G4 doesn't do this and I *know* I've figured this out before but the solution is evading me right now. More coffee may help, we'll see.
