I dropped my 2008 white MacBook (no case) over 100 times in two years. It worked fine until I dropped it in the snow and concrete which affected the power mechanism.

I dropped my 2010 MBP (with a hard case) 1-2x a week over 7 years... Only had one major repair in 2011 because I knocked over a cup of water... It's still in working order.

I haven't dropped my 2017 MBP yet... I keep it stationary on a desk on a laptop stand. It seems way too fragile with how thin it is.

This is sort of a "dropped" story. A friend of mine came out of a meeting with a client. They walked over to his car, shook hands and said goodbye. My friend got in and drove away. Once out of the parking lot he looked over on the passenger seat where he always places his MacBook Pro when he's driving and it wasn't there!

He looked up into the rear view mirror and saw his MacBook Pro doing cartwheels down the road. Luckily it was in a case. He immediately pulled over, ran back and got it. Opened the case the the computer was fine. It started right up and was not damaged.

When he went to shake hands to say goodbye, he placed the case on the roof of the car. He was so happy that he had landed this new client he forgot all about it being there, got in and drove away. Needless to say, he's never made that mistake again.
