Anyone have experience with selling a bed?

I've heard some veterans associations will also come and pick up donated goods.

Are you renting a uhaul or hiring movers? If you're renting your own truck you could always drop off the donated goods after you move your own stuff.

I will be renting a u haul and doing most of the moving myself.

I'd sleep on the floor before I purchased a used mattress.

Then I would contact charity/thrift stores in the area and see who will take a drop off of furniture, specifically a mattress. You might be able to just swing by and hand it off to them during the move.
