Just to confirm, I was on Citalopram and it's just an SSRI.

Yes, as far as I know, (and while I worked in this field for 5 years, mostly the PR and legal end, my only degree is in English). My understanding is that Citalopram's chemical structure is unrelated to other trycyclics, tetracyclics, or most other antidepressants.

The only other SSRI w/ a similar chem structure, that i know of is, Escitalopram which is a more pure version of Citalopram (i.e. fewer side-effects).

Here's a link to a counseling resouce for medications

The eclectic scope of your experience never ceases to disapoint, iGary. :)
slightly related, ever experienced hydromorphone hydrocloride (dilaudid)? That's a hell of nap starter. :D

If a script can be written for it, I have most likely been on it. :D

And if a script can't be written...well err...

I have been off all meds for almost two months now, which I am quite proud of. :)

Well you should know that Effexor is an SNRI. I included clonazepam because I felt it was related to the topic.

Dam I'm off...well thats probably why I dropped out of pharmacy school to get into med school

One aspect I haven't spoken of is how I became apathetic. I was probably overemotional before, so it's kind of good. But, sometimes I don't feel like I care as much as I should about some things. Anyone else?

In my case, it was definately that I could not get happy. I could feel sadder, but never better than neutral. I cared about things but only in a disassociated and negative POV. The glass was not only half-empty, it was 5 stories tall, the liquid was salt-water, and outside it were 1000 dehydrated people covered with paper cuts attempting to smash the glass with plastic hammers.

I've been off my Tri-cyclics for 5 days now (due to being swapped back to SSRIs) and all I can say is I can't wait to start taking the SSRIs.
These last few days have been a f**king nightmare!!
