Considering the fact that the iPhone 8 costs almost 1k for just 64gb storage and the 7s being a 7 with wireless charging I am thinking of keeping my 7 Plus for another year. Compared to my iPhone 6 which had heavy slowdowns after a year of use,it's faring extremely well. Who else's doing the same?

Your 6 had heavy slowdowns? I'm still using a 6! Performance is still pretty good, but I plan to upgrade this year. I would probably keep a 7 if I had one.

Hey... don't most people keep their phones for at least two years?

If you had said iPhone 6S I can sorta see the question... but the iPhone 7 only came out last year! :p

I expect the iPhone 7 is gonna be chugging along fairly well with iOS updates.

Single core performance, Galaxy S8 is 20% slower than the iPhone 6S so if I deem the iPhone 8 not worth the price premium and something happens to my current iPhone, I'd actually rather pick up a heavily discounted iPhone SE/6S/7 than go with Android.

I am going to keep my 7. I got a 7 and SE about the same time. I pretty much only use the SE so for all intent and purposes I have a brand new 7 sitting in a drawer. I figure when I break the SE or the battery goes bad I already have my replacement phone. The reason I have two phones like that is because I replaced my iPod touch with a SE but liked it so much I just put my SIM card in it and made it my daily phone.

Right now I'm leaning towards keeping my 7. While I can afford the 8, I am not interested in paying over $1,000 for a phone, when I was younger I definitely would have though. As far as the 7s it's possible but I'm not sure it would offer me enough over the 7 to justify the upgrade.
Same here. Even though my 7 plus has some wear and tear, it seems crazy to pay over $1,000 for a new phone

I do plan on upgrading from my iPhone 7, but I haven't ruled out necessarily from considering the iPhone 7S model. I know most of the hype surrounding the OLED model is massive, but I still think the 7S will be highly successful and will also be in Anticipated as well for those who are not interested the OLED model/higher price.

I'm not a fan of cases, so the rumored glass back isn't too appealing to me. If the new models don't have ProMotion, I won't give it a second thought. The new iPad Pro makes scrolling and the UI seem laggy on my 7+.

Until a few weeks ago I was thinking that I might sit out this year’s releases but my iPhone 7 has seemingly been suffering worse battery life recently. The only thing that’s changed is that the screen was replaced, but I can’t see how that would affect battery life.

I’ll see what the launch event brings. I’m on the upgrade programme now & not sure how that will work with phones being in short supply & having to wait to find one. Too much delay & it screws up timing for upgrading next year. As the 8 is going to be a big change, I foresee the 2nd gen version being a lot better.

My iPhone 6S is only a year old and I still have 12 months of contract left so will keep it. It's probably the fastest phone I've owned and easily keeps up with the iPhone 7 which I found surprising? It's showed no signs of slowly down despite the design being 2 years old now. Phones seem to last longer these days.

For some like me we buy outright yearly and offset cost from selling current phone. To be frank i am not entirely certain what my next move is after launch, the 128GB model is a deal breaker if 'am celebrating with :apple: next month. Alternatively 7s+ maybe!!!

I'll upgrade to the new iPhone mainly for the much improved screen/design and cameras. It's a relatively cheap upgrade so it's an easy choice. Should be a huge improvement.

I have purchased every new iPhone but for the first time, I'm hoping the iPhone 8 will be enough to last me several years.

Need full screen in a smaller form factor!

Probably will hang on to my 7 Plus. I don't like the rumoured aspect ratio of the 8, even though it may have a longer diagonal it will feel like a smaller screen (and indeed will be a smaller screen if the bottom part is simply a function area).

If I had an iPhone 7, I'd be holding on to it, but I'm an outlier in that my current phone is an ancient iPhone 4. Based on my usage, I haven't needed to upgrade for a long time, but battery life and limited app support is starting to show. It has more than paid for itself over the course of time. By comparison, if I had an iPhone 7, I personally wouldn't have a compelling reason to switch to an 8.

I know there are plenty of folks here who trade up much more frequently than I do, but I figured my opinion would serve as a contrast.

IMO the 7S will be for people on older devices not really for those with the 7.

I might be holding on to my 6s plus, over a grand for a phone is just crazy, but oh yeah 800 is OK, well you got stop somewhere.:p

I may or may not upgrade this year, not sure until the new phone is unveiled. Verizon had a great deal last year, I got a 7+ for me and my wife for $20/mo each on their payment plan so I'm basically getting two phones for what I'd pay for one. I was thinking about doing new Apple watches this year and waiting until next year for a new phone. Of course if Verizon offers another deal like last year...

Honestly, if carriers hadn't been giving away the iPhone 7 for "free" last year, I'd still be rocking an iPhone 6 (A8) and the iPhone 6S (A9) was a very nice improvement over that in terms of performance. :p

iPhone 6S hardware finally matched performance of 2-5 year old computers and the thing is, those 5 year old computers are still working very well. Hence, we see new iPhones doing better on the longevity front (as far as performance and lag).

I have my 7 listed for sale. However, I haven't received any offers yet. I would have no problem using it for another year if new iPhone models really don't impress (and the OLED iPhone is $1k+).

If my 7 sells, I still have my SE that I will happily use for the next year.

I know its not what the OP asked, but I'm actually considering picking up the 7 when the 7S/8 is released. I have the iPhone SE which works fine as it is for my usage (mail, imessage, reading the news, podcasts, audio books, music, maps). All I really want is more storage and a brighter display as the SE is supbar outside.

Obviously there’s people keeping their 7

Keeping my 7 for another year. It has been the most capable phone so far and if the 8 is really that much different I rather wait one year until the bugs have been worked out.
