Yes, I miss the curvy iPhone. I have the bumper and only wish they had one with a closed and curvy back to feel more comfy in my hand.

Get one of those cases that apple used to hide the prototype iPhone 4 that gizmo do got

I have found myself missing the curved back a couple of times. Seems to happen most the time when I bring it out of pocket, my hands can't tell which way around it is, so I end up trying to unlock the back of the phone.

I've run into that. Get into the habit of sliding it in upside down, face down so you always pull it out with the thumb on the home button.

I never owned the 3G/3GS, but my brother and stepsister own one of each for me to use them extensively.

I say if I did own one of those, I probably would miss the curved back. I owned the 2G, and didn't like holding it all that long against my ear either. That also was very slippery. My iP4 gets slippery because I tend clean it on both sides almost daily and the oleophobic coating does add a glossy, slippery finish to it.

I think the iP4 is the best phone Apple ever made inside/out, but it isn't the most comfortable to hold. I tried taking pictures today and got so paranoid holding it in landscape mode because how flat it is.

I really like the new design except when it comes to carrying. I always placed the phone, screen side facing in, to protect the glass. When I'm about to place something in the same pocket it was comforting to "feel" the curved back to ensure I wasn't about to scratch the face. If I scratched the case it didn't matter, it was just a case.

With the newer design I've had to simply stop sharing the pocket with anything else... maybe that's a good thing.

A liked the original iPhone form factor the best. The 3G/3GS was kind of weird. I don't mind the 4G, but I hope someday they go back to the original iPhone shape.

Okay, obviously the iPhone 4 is so much better than the 3G or 3GS, but does anyone else find they kind of miss the rounded back? It always felt really comfortable in my hand, and somehow the flat design doesn't feel as good.

I think a big part of the reason they made the back flat was for the camera lens, which is now flat instead of rounded, and also so that the phone would lay flat on a table or whatever, but I have to say I miss the rounded back.

Anyone else?

Not me. I hated the rounded edges. I have large hands, so I tend to hold the phone between my fingertips. The rounded edges of the 3G tended to slip in my fingers. The iPhone 4 is much easier for me to hold.

Just sold my 3G today and when I was packing it up in the original box, it felt much more natural with the rounded back. Felt like giving my child away when they walked away with my phone.

Oh well, it was well worth the pain and suffering for my iPad fund.

It's just harder to pick up from a flat surface.

+1 to both, so I guess that's a +2?

I remember complaints that the curved back made it unstable to lay on a table and use (type).

Nope. I like the new design. Didn't have a problem with the design of my 3GS when I was using it, but since I've had a chance to use the 4 since launch day, I like it more.

No.

The primary reason is playing video games. This new iPhone and the the 3GS before it are practically PS2s, so this saves me from having to carry around a PSP and a DS Lite. Most of the time, anyway. No racer on the iDevice is as good as MotorStorm on PSP. And Hero of Sparta pales in comparison to God of War. I digress.

The new flat back is exemplary for users whose first priority if multimedia and gaming. Now I can simply hold it using both bottom corners and I'm good to go.

I don't miss the curvature one bit. In fact, I always disliked it.

C'est la vie.

I definitely miss the shape of my 3GS - it was much more comfortable in my hand. Oh, and it didn't drop calls when I held it either;).

Get a case and solve both problems ;)

Then you can thank me when you drop your phone and it doesn't shatter
