With 10.5 my mbp has worked fine with airport extreme, time capsule, and a crappy b router we have.

i HATE you all!!! :p

I think i've tried so many different things (including changing channel which worked for about 3 days - a record) that my MP is now a bit confused and fractured. There seem to be bits and pieces of the things i've tried lying around my mac.

I've tried setting up new keychains so there are some of those old ones lying around, there are several locations each with different passwords and fractured settings. And i've changed from WPA to WEP to WPA to WEP so many times its not funny. All in all i've tried about 10 different solutions all of which have had some sucess for about 24 hours but then the signal drops to 2 bars, and the transmit rate bottoms out at '1' (Alt-Click the black bars to see what i mean)

All in all a bit of a mess. Can i some how reset all the keychains/locations/settigns/everything to do with Airport in one fell swoop? Reinstalling the OS isn't an option really (i haven't got the time to reinstall all my apps etc)

I guess I'm a bit confused. Why is it only Leopards problem you are not able to connect to the internet? Have you looked at your provider, or your modem, or your wireless? are you connecting through a router that is yours or is it someone else's that is not secured?

Not trying to be a jerk and I hope that you can get this resolved without having to reinstall the OS but there are a lot of other things involved than just the Airport Card.

Peace:cool:

My iMac and MBP have always connected perfectly since i dumped my Linksys. Both are connected through a Airport Extreme Base Station. My iPhone also connect perfectly.

i started out with no wireless problems, then i upgraded to 10.5.2, which began network dropping hell. one of the other updates since then has fixed it though, i guess, because the problem is nonexistent now.

I don't have wireless problems anymore. I just downgraded to Tiger.

Hours before that the drops were so bad (and had been since 10.5.0) that I would get dropped enough times in a short time frame such that I couldn't even hold a conversation on AIM, and AIM would kick me out for 10 mins because I was reconnecting so many times.

So anyone who says it's not Leopard, that it's our hardware or poor settings or general idiocy, needs to shove it. When I installed Leopard I did a clean install, and when I downgraded I also did a clean install, and I changed nothing else, ever.

No trouble here. My wireless networking works perfectly, both at school and at home. My school's network was a pain to set up to connect to on Leopard, but once I figured out how to do it, it just worked. :D

Ditto.

I am on a very first generation MBP (Tiger "native"), but also got a new MPB (Leopard "native") lately. I have tried the following steps (on both machines) to get rid of this enigmatic phenomena:

1. Clean install of Leopard
2. Router firmware upgrade
3. Router reset to factory settings
3. Change of channels on both router and MBP
4. Adding of the DNS addresses 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2
5. SSID made visible
6. Wireless encryption turned off
6. Install of any software updates available thru software update

I am able to wirelessly connect to the Internet with both MBPs using either Tiger or Vista.

Leopard gives me constant drops. Makes it very nasty to chat with people using instant messengers, as you can imagine.

I have called up Apple support, I have dragged my portables to the closest service provider. Nothing.

I have searched for help documents in Apple's support section online: Nothing.

All's Fine Here...

No issues [knock on wood] at all in the one+ year I've had my MBP connected wirelessly to my 1st gen (non-gigabit) AEBS... I updated to Leopard the same night it came out.

No problems on the PB G4 and iMac running Leopard in my house. We have an Airport Extreme now, but had some cheap router before that - no problems then, either. But I did notice that pages load more quickly with the APE.

wireless card doesnt work with mac pro?

sorry for butting in so late, but i heard and saw on the apple page that airport extreme cards dont work with mac pro's.
if you go on the airport extreme card in the apple store, and look at the people that have commented, some say that it doesnt work with mac pro's!

I also can't connect wireless and I don't have any access to the router because I'm connecting through the university's wireless internet. So what can I do?

My rev 1 MacBook and my 2008 Mac Pro work flawlessly with my 802.11g Netgear WiFi router. However, I recently purchased an Airport Express so my Mac Pro could go "n". To my disappointment, the Mac Pro would constantly loose it's signal to the point where wireless was just not functional. (20' from the AE without any obstruction!) However, the MacBook didn't skip a beat. Since the Mac Pro is my primary machine, I need a good internet connection. I dropped back down to the Netgear router and returned the Airport Express.

When I still had tiger and when i first got leopard (before any major patches), I always got kicked off my router any time a windows comp got on. I had to reset the damn router almost 3-4 times a day! After that last airport update for the mbp, I haven't had any probs :D

Been working without a hitch for me since i bought my 2.16 MacBook in June of 07.

Same right here. Been using this thing every single day since June of 07. Have not had any problems, not in Tiger, not in Leopard (upgraded in early Feb 08).

Same here, no issues with my wireless. I am using Leopard, Time Capsule and a 24" iMac and all is well. :)

Got my new iMac in December (see sig), preinstalled with Tiger. Never used it and immediately upgraded to Leopard. I connect wirelessly at home via a Linksys router I had already configured with my old Windows XP machine, connected to cable modem from Comcast. I had to play around with the network settings for a few minutes, but it has worked perfectly through the 10.5.2 update. I also have no trouble grabbing other people's signals in the neighborhood when the cable has gone out. I also have no trouble connecting when I virtual machine or boot into XP.

There must be a problem. It is baffling, since there seems to be no apparent logic to who has trouble and who does not, except the common thread of moving to Leopard.
