This is going to be my 5th iPhone and I have never pre ordered !! Never had a problem getting mine on the release dates....

I'm going to try my luck at the store on Friday evening. If nothing, then I'll just order it online.

I didn't preorder. Should I go to an Apple Store, AT&T Store or Best Buy on Friday? Where do you think I'll have the best chance of getting one?

Evening? I've never bought Apple products on launch day, so I wouldn't know for sure, but something tells me you won't have luck in the evening. Idk though.

You didn't even think about them. How many people will be waiting in their line..... Inventory might be an issue, but I would go NOW and talk to them.

Well, I certainly can't go in the morning. Hopefully they have some left though. It's basically the same design from last year - hopefully Apple has been making a lot of them.

If not, no worries. I'm not really in a rush to order one anyways.

For the people not going to the Apple Store:

Are you worried that Sprint/Verizon/AT&T will run out of phones before you get there?

I am, even though I will be arriving at the Sprint store only 2 hours after they open. :(

If you line up 2 hours BEFORE I doubt you'll get an iPhone.

i believe this will happen. iPhone 4 design basically unchanged for the most part over the course of nearly 1 1/2 years of production and you shouldn't have a problem getting it in store on Friday. I expect them to have ridiculous amount in their supply storage of iPhone 4s's.

Good luck.

Uve never been through this process huh?

Not a valid assumption. I showed up roughly 3 hours before opening last year at an AT&T store and was 10th in line. An hour after I got there, there were only a few people behind me. My buddy went around noon on launch day last year and got one no problem.

I was being indecisive after the announcement but now I've decided to pick one up so I'm going to my Apple or Verizon store at about 3pm to pick one up.

I did not pre-order. I'm still on the fence. I might call around to some ATT stores here and if they have them in stock, I'll check it out.

I know they said they sold a million in 24 hours. But I'm figuring, at least where I live, I'll be able to snag one.

I'm debating between Radioshack and ATT. I'm going to probably visit them tomorrow and see what they say.

I spoke to a RS manager. He claims they'll have it on launch day. I can't tell if he is just saying that without truly knowing or if he has received word that his store will be getting a shipment. I remember last year most of them did receive iPhones... but they received maybe 3 to a store ( and that was the lucky ones) and their was a line usually from the night before of more than 3.. making for some angry customers.

Good luck though.

Waiting in line because I'm using a different line's upgrade (a line that doesn't have a data plan, so pre-ordering would've been a mess).

Went into the AT&T store I've waited at for the 3G and 3GS to make sure everything would work out on Friday. For what it's worth: the guy said it would be a quick swap and that they have already received an email (this was on Friday) about getting a significant number of iPhones in for launch.

I've had every iPhone except the 3Gs since the original one. I ve been through the process. It was buyers like me who told fools that they were wasting their money paying for a blackberry.

I'll wait it out and hope to snag something on craigslist for 50 bucks or so off retail in 3-4 weeks. No big rush, I am happy with the i4

Definitely not!

I have to see this thing in person, plus I want to wait for the nexus. iPhone 5 would have been a pre order. I literally had my money waiting since March expecting it in June then I saw the 4S and said maybe its time to give Android a look.
