Anyone received their Intel iMac?

Seems like xbench is unreliable.
The CPU test can't be that much slower.
Basically that score for CPU is my iBook 1.2's score.

I'll say. On the end of the last page of this thread I post my dual G4 PM score of 160. I would expect the G5 and the intel iMacs to both be a faster. I just checked again - longer bars, higher numbers - are better... hmmm. Alocate with a score of 933 😱 But this just doesn't make sense to me - if my G4 is at 160, it seems like it will be awhile until the intel duos catch up with the G4, but that can't be right...
 
Interesting. Just ran quick test on xbench.

Mac Min 1.42 - 512mb = 42 Overall
Powermac Dual G5 1.8 = 93.4 Overall

I'm hoping the Duo 1.83 + 2gb Ram will match my powermac for speed once apps are universal.. Fingers crossed 🙄

Bubbasteve, check your setting under the system preferences for energy saver (looks like a light bulb). Under the options tab, If processor performance is set to automatic, change it to highest performance and rerun the xbench. Thank you.

Found the energy saver, found the options tab but I can't find the processor performance

What is the startup sound? Any chance you could record it somehow (obviously using something other than the Intel iMac) and share with us?

Wow, it looks like they took away that option🙁 . Thanks for trying...

Do you have office installed? If you do, can you comment on the overall speed of office applications. Does office start up quickly enough?

Roughly 2 seconds to get to the Project Gallery after initial click
 
XBench Comparison

Alright, so I went through and pulled out some of the relevent data points form the XBench.

Some of the stats, like vecLib FFT just don't apply, because the Yonah doesn't have Altivec. I'm thinking some of the tests, like the UI test are Altivec accelerated on the PPC, accounting for the low x86 score.

The PPC seems to be better on FP, while the x86 screams on Integer.

You can't compare different versions of XBench scores, you have to use the same version. This is because the author reset the baseline in different versions. I doubt your G4 anything will score 160 in XBench 1.2.

Does anyone have a link to that photoshop test where it applies a blur to that horse pic? I would be anxious to see the difference using rosetta. (assuming you have photoshop) Does anyone know any tests that he can run that will show the speed difference? Preferably something in ilife because it is universal.

Last night when I was setting the bad boy up it seemed pretty noisy... but after I put I turned it on in the morning it "pulls like butter" (or so says Steve Jobs)

One thing that I have found pretty annoying is that I cant download wallpapers from interfacelift.com (i.e. the Core Duo wallpaper)... I try to load it as my wallpaper but it doesn't appear, rather a big blue blackground appears as the wallpaper instead (my version of the blue screen of death)
