I'm not sure.

It's very hard to swallow that we get the 1st gen. touch ID sensor (which is noticeable), and 32GB on the base model. 64GB would of made so much more sense.

There's really no reason for either of those, on their "pro" tablet.

Also - they just created the Surface RT. It's the exact same concept, - which kind of gets at me.

I'm okay with buying it, but I feel like the person I gave the money to thinks I'm a moron and is alright with screwing me.

THAT's what makes keeping it so hard..

I returned mine last Thu, after having it for one week. I felt like it was too big and heavy to take everywhere with me like I had been taking my iPad Air 2....especially since a number of the apps that I use are currently just blown up versions of the app that runs on the iPad Air 2...so that text becomes larger and not as clear as it could be.
However, just a day later, I regretted my decision to return it. I had returned to the iPad Air 2 and found that it felt really small now. I had also reached out with my right hand to scroll my MacBook Pro screen up with my fingers a few times. How quickly that changed.
So, 3 days after returning it, I now have another one. It's unfortunate that it took the act of returning it to realise that it was what I really wanted....but now I am happy.....except for putting my husband through a few miserable days with my indeciveness and stupid decision to return it in the first place.
On a side note.....the first iPad Pro had a yellow patch 3/4 way down the screen in portrait mode which I think contributed to my initial unhappiness, but my new iPad Pro has a wonderful screen.

I have been driving my husband nuts for days. I got the iPad pro a week ago as a gift and am still on the fence. I like it but don't love it yet. Maybe in time. My problem is I keep comparing it to the galaxy note pro tablet, which my sister in law has but is sadly discontinued. I have a galaxy note phone and i love it.
I need something now so bought the iPad and coming from and iPad 4th generation, it is nice, but doesn't do nearly as much as the galaxy so i'm torn.
I suppose I can use it for a while and see if they come out with a new galaxy and then sell it. But it's a lot of money to not be thrilled over.
I liked your story though and I think if I return i may regret it too because there are some things I love about it.

Curlyimac, I can relate to how you are feeling. I also had my first iPad Pro for a week and had spent most of that time wondering if it was too big for me. When I use it at a desk for tech news, forums, email, games, etc, I loved the size, it was really just the awkwardness of carrying my iPad with me to work. So there is a trade off.....the iPad Pro is amazing, the screen is awesome and so is the sound. It's also bigger and heavier...so, I thought that for portability I might be best off with the iPad Air 2....and I still love that iPad, but after I had used the iPad Pro for a week, it did feel tiny.....so I found that I really did like the size of the Pro.
So I picked up another one 3 days after returning the first one and I am much more settled in my mind now. I don't question it anymore like I was....I am happy with the size.
But...…
I do still have an iPad mini 2 and iPad Air 2.....and I also like them both for different reasons.....but I want to consolidate..I don't need this many iPads. I'm still just trying to work out which one to part with. I may end up giving the iPad Air 2 to my husband (he currently has an iPad Air)....then either use the iPad mini 2 as my handbag iPad.....or give the iPad mini 2 to my youngest daughter (she currently has an iPad 2) and then sell my iPhone 6 Plus (since I now have an iPhone 6s) to buy an iPad mini 4. My eldest daughter will also benefit since she would then get my husbands iPad Air (upgrading from an iPad 3). Upgrades all around.
So, I guess what I am trying to say is that the iPad Pro is really the best iPad ever.....it's so big and fast.....but I do feel like I still need a smaller iPad for my handbag. I have an iPhone 6s this time, so I think that the 6s and mini 2 or 4 would be great to take out, but use the iPad Pro at home.

I think I'm going to budge and return it. After having for a whole two weeks, I feel like it's lacking in so many ways for me. The apps aren't made for the pro as of yet. The font scaling is horrible. And many others. I'll give it another go next year. Who knows I might miss it and want it again in April, May or June. Lol I guess my expectations were high. I might go for the MacBook and pick up the pro later? Who knows!

After a week I'm definitely keeping the Pro. This is a fantastic device. The size, the speed, the speakers and the Pencil are all fantastic. The size is a bit of a problem when outside the home, but not a huge issue. In the past I've carried laptops up to ten pounds so this is a huge improvement.

Yesterday I picked up my iPad Air and was shocked how small it is. The problem with the Air is the size. So often I have to zoom and pan to access material. The Pro provides access to much more material without panning and zooming. When reading PDFs or viewing scientific and engineering data the Pro is really superior. Your eyes can scan around much more quickly than your fingers can. Seeing more data simultaneously makes it vastly easier to understand.

I just returned mine.. Don't ask me why but I'm not a pro.. I just don't understand why it exists...

Oh look, yet another MR Forum member who can't see past their own nose. News flash, people do different things and have different preferences than you do. This should be painfully obvious: The iPad Pro exists because Apple thought some people wanted a bigger iPad with more RAM and also, bonus, a really amazingly great digitizer. This is not a complicated idea. Some people do different things or things in a different way than you.

That's because you gotten used to the IPP, I'm on the flip side of things. I use an iPad mini, so if I pick up an Air, then it feels large.

...and when they do, others call them out for not seeing past their own noses. Farcical contradiction ensues

I just got one and returned it after an hour. Yellowish screen and many apps look like they do on an iPad Air. Still have that chunky interface instead of giving much more real estate. Dropbox was exactly 1:1 scale. Others only gave a few lines extra and all text based apps don't let you edit two docs at once. I'm not waiting for updates if they ever come so I will go back to my desktop even if it kills my butt sitting there all day.

its clearly that this thread was made for those people thinking returning their ipad pro or not. i just dont understand why some people here cannot accept that some folks including me returned their ipad pro?

i am typing now with surface pro 4 lol

They can't accept that you and me and others have a brain to think about the "pro" statement and the price. For a pro device which costs around 1000€ you get basically a iPad with a mobile OS where you can't even access the file system. I don't know which professional is afraid of a file system.

Surface Pro 4 is far superior due to the fact it is a tablet (mobile OS) if you want it to be.

I really wanted to like the device but I'm finding that I just revert back to my iPad Air for the most part. I'm using the PRO now, and enjoying the bigger screen as I browse, but it's just not as practical. It's cumbersome in so many ways and once you realise that you lose out on the more convenient aspects of having a smaller device, your decision is pretty much made to return it.

I will more than likely return in a few days and wait for the next revision of the iPad Air.

This device certainly suits artists, but casual users I believe should avoid it.
I don't think it was designed with casual users in mind since the beginning....

I just returned mine.. Don't ask me why but I'm not a pro.. I just don't understand why it exists...
And you bought one before understanding why it exists ? Did you have $1000 to throw away ?

Because I feel I can try it and nothing to lose right? It's just not for me that's it.

I went to the Apple Store to return my iPad pro and the Logitech case. Got 1000.00 back. They asked me why, I told them that I changed my mind and told them how I was disappointed that I never got my hands on the pencil. They said it sells out quick. I said that's too bad because I -could- have a better experience if I got the pencil. Anyway, I returned it. I don't regret it. I'm eyeballing the MacBook. It cost a little more but I can get that and hold on for the second iPad pro.

From what I've been reading I don't think anyone here is actually having a problem with someone returning their iPad Pro, but rather what is the actual point of creating an entire thread just to say, "I'm returning my iPad Pro, here's why...". Explain to me what's the point of that?
Whether or not it's meant to, it comes across as an attempt to influence others to either find fault with their iPad Pro to create a pity party or to tell people it's junk and not to buy it. I mean, even your post suggests that you felt the need to cause a slight annoyance with people by stating that you are typing this on your Surface (followed by an "LOL") when this isn't a thread about the Surface at all. Funny that you actually stated that this thread is about the iPad but felt the need to tell us you bought a Surface. :p

That's what I did, roughly two weeks ago. I returned the iPP, smart keyboard, smart cover and back case, and a 53 pencil. Then went straight to buy a Microsoft Surface.

To be honest I have a different view. iOS has made computing fun for me again. A traditional laptop is a drag. I also like hand written notes but I have yet to try an apple pencil. I'll be getting one for Xmas and see how I like it.

You said it best. iOS has made doing certain things much more fun than doing in a laptop. I love it for that.

I returned mine. Hardware is amazing. Software needs a serious revision, and given the economics of the App Store, most developers are not anxiously updating their apps.
I totally agree! Loved the look, weight and feel of the iPad pro. I loved how big the screen is! It's beautiful. Software needs so much more updating. The scaling of the fonts just drove me crazy. A lot of apps weren't made for it yet. It was difficult to use. Maybe we can hold off until the second one comes out and it'll be a much more better experience. Plus, I'll be able to get my hands on the pencil and purchase them all at the same time for better enjoyment!

I just returned mine, and have the Pencil on craigslist (south Texas, and sorry, won't ship).

I couldn't use it as a main device, and I am so done carrying around two devices. I think at this point, unless you're an artist - it's a bit useless..

It's way overkill for note taking (which was my purpose with it) - the Surface 3 performs that function just as well, for significantly less.

Drawing is where it outdoes the Surface lineup - and that's not me, unfortunately.

I'm going back to the 15" rMBP as an only device, and using pen and paper for the remainder of my studies...

I'm very glad iPads are going in that direction, it's just not there yet for anyone but graphical artists.

I think I'm going to return mine too. Making use of the holiday return period to make a final decision but truly feel that it's made for artists which I am not.

It's fast, screen is beautiful and I love the pencil but it's just not worth the price tag for what I'm doing with it.

I think I'm on board the return train as well. Like others, I love the hardware. It's the best ipad yet. But I can get a good enough ipad for a third of the cost that's more mobile for what I use it for. The pencil is fun to use for a bit but I'm just not an artist and wouldn't use it that often. I think what sealed it for me is the motion blur when scrolling.

BTW..even if iOS did a bit more, I'm not sure it would matter in terms of buying a pro or 1k+ version.

I think for a very high percentage of the way consumers use it, it is not worth the money even without accessories. More returns upcoming when the holiday return period expires.

One could have gotten an Air 2 for at least $100 off, the way most use an iPad that easily suffices for their needs.

The Air is only $100 more than the Mini. Apple overpriced the Pro considering most user's needs which is the way higher percentage than the consumer who will use it as a "pro" device. Dropping the price will come sooner than later, especially if the Air 3 is released in the short term.
