I imagine a lot of people are. Not because there's anything wrong with the 6s, but 2 year contracts are still pretty much the norm.

Bingo! I held on to my original iPhone until the 4 came out. I refuse to go on the Next ripoff scheme. Pretty much everyone I know still goes for the two year contract. That's not to say the 6S isn't a solid upgrade (despite other's apparent disappointment)... My cycle simply dictates a 7 for my next upgrade.

There are a good amount of people still on plans that would make sense with subsidy, but it's a far cry from the "norm" any more. The Next isn't a ripoff, it's the way things are. There's a great majority of people who don't use unlimited, or didn't have unlimited in which even with a MSV (mobile share value) on at&t and the next program AND insurance, are still saving money.

If next is a ripoff, then you're against pre-paid plans too where people are forced to pay the full retail price up front, right?

That being said, I'll be going w/ a 6s just because I'm on at&t next 12, and can upgrade every year... and I'm saving money to boot because my old plan was more expensive than my new plan. Go figure.

This will be the first in 5 generations that I'm skipping. The 16gb scam turned me off, and I'm done with the crappy battery life (I have a 6 currently). I'll wait till the 7, and maybe see if an android phone piques my interest in the meantime.

I'll skip.
Is going to cost $50 more in my country and I can't deal with 16GB so I'd have to spend about $950 for the 6s and more than $1000 for the Plus, it is really too much for a phone.
Besides I still like my iPhone 6 and I can live without 3D touch for another year.

I will definitely skip the 6S Plus and will go for the iPhone 7 Plus when it comes out next year. Since it will still have the features from the 6S/6S Plus but with a redesigned model, and of course faster processor than previous models.

You guys are making it harder to get fired up about upgrading. I am on the Next program and have met me 12 months. If I wait more than 12 then I lose money unless I wait until the 7 comes out. So, I have to decide to upgrade now and continue to pay the same amount or wait. My 6+ has nothing wrong with it and since getting my watch I really don't even look at it as much as I used to. Its more or less a connection point for my watch.

I was gonna upgrade my 6 for a 6s but since the battery on the 6s is smaller I'll pass until the 7.. Get your **** together Apple, we need better battery life not 3d touch or what u call it

I'm 100% on your side on this one but there are rumours circulating already from an analyst that is reasonably well regarded re accurate leaks (Ming-Chi Kuo) that the iPhone 7 is going to get much thinner again (6mm) ... http://www.technobuffalo.com/2015/0...d-to-be-as-thin-as-an-ipod-touch-at-just-6mm/

If the rumours are true then I'm afraid that the 7 is likely to be in exactly the same situation as the 6s - less space for battery -> smaller capacity battery -> all efficiency gains from updated components needing to go towards maintaining battery life at the same level as the previous generation rather than delivering any increase in the specs.

By the way, the battery capacity on the 6s might be smaller than the 6 but Apple is claiming that the battery life is the same on the 6s as the 6 (http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/compare/).

I have a 5 right now and I said that if the battery life wasn't improved on the 6s vs the 6 then I might as well save some money and buy a 6 since I don't use the camera and my 5 is fast enough already so I don't care about camera quality or performance. All I really want from an upgrade is the 4.7" screen, Touch ID and more battery life than my 5 has; all of which I would get from the 6 at a lower price than the 6s.

The thing that is making me pause for thought though is the claimed up-to-doubling of recognition speed for Touch ID. The closer to instantaneous the fingerprint recognition is the better the user experience and unlocking the phone is a minor but very frequent operation during use so I'm now thinking that maybe I might spend just a bit extra to know that I've got the absolute best Touch ID implementation there is. I worry that the first time Touch ID on a 6 took a couple of attempts or was slower than usual I would end up thinking "I should have gone for the 6s".

I think i'm going to skip for once since I should probably save some money :p. Been upgrading since the 3G (my first iPhone)

just bought a mint 128Gb 6+ with 1 year applecare at a great price knowing that i would miss the 6s and move onto the 7 :)

best time to buy a 6 :D

I bought every iphone from the 4s( my first one)
4s(16)-5(16)-5s(32)-6+(64)
this time i will probably skip... the CPU and GPU performance are nice and also 3d touch, but not a game changer... also the smaller battery is not a very good thing in my opinion and also the growth in weight and thickness
I will probably upgrade to 7+, hoping in a stylus support (pencil :D )
Besides that in Italy we have two years of warranty from Apple store
This year is going to be a saving year: No new ipad to buy, no new iPhone :D

... is not a very good thing in my opinion and also the growth in weight and thickness

Thickness I can't see as a big deal (7.1mm vs 9.9mm = 3% increase on 6s vs 6) but the weight surprised me. 143g for the 6s vs 129g for the 6 is an almost 11% increase in weight. The 6 should have stayed away from the doughnuts this last year!

I said before that faster Touch ID recognition was pushing me towards the 6s but I confess that at the same time this big weight increase is pushing me towards only upgrading to a 6 so I'm really torn between the two. I keep my phone in my front trouser pocket and the ideal is for it to be light enough to not even realise it is there. When I moved from an iPhone 4 to my current 5 I really noticed the reduction in weight; it was great. The iPhone 6s is now back to being heavier than the 4 (143g vs 137g for the 4). It's a real shame that the amazing job the Apple engineers did in keeping the 6 so light, and the 5/5s before it, is now undone with the 6s.

Going to get a 6s+ for sure. The increase in megapixels will be much welcomed.

I'm on a 2yr contract but still wouldn't upgrade. wife is due for an upgrade but may take advantage of $100 less on the iP6 and get a 64GB.

Have a 5S, waiting out for the 7S. I usually skip the first iteration to let apple smooth out the wrinkles. But there is nothing I find really making me want to spend the money on a 6S now.

Nope. My current iPhone 5 is on the verge of not having any battery life (not eligible for the repair program) and it's time for an upgrade. Guess I'm going to the S cycle of products.

I'm burnt out on iPhones. Force/3D Touch isn't anything amazing. But I'm thinking about getting a new one just because the cheap plans. I have the 6 Plus, and I'll never make that mistake again! IMHO, it's too big! :(

I kept my 5S and I use it more than my 6 Plus. Wish they would go back to that size.

5S is a TANK. Battery life is as good as the 6. Camera is really nice. Touch ID. I have dropped mine several times with no case and only a few minor dings. I have other phones to play with but it is my daily driver. Love that is actually fits in my pocket!

Let me rephrase... For older people, with families, who don't use absurd amounts of cellular data, and like to keep their phones to pass down to their spouse/kids - Next is a ripoff.

At a certain point in your life... That group is pretty much everyone you know.

Same here, I took my case off last year, and it's still doing fine after a few drops. I rarely take my 6 Plus outside, it's on, but everyone still calls my old number (connected to the 5S). I like the size because I can use it while laying down. The Plus is so big -- one hand isn't enough -- and you have to move it further away from your face to see the entire screen (when lying on your side).

It is really easy to replace the battery on the 5 - get a kit off Amazon or eBay. I did mine a year ago and the battery is still better than ever!

I cannot hold out. I have a cracked iPhone 4 that needs to be replaced as it doesn't charge well (not the battery, likely the port). At first I was thinking about staying on a 2 year contract and paying $99 for the iPhone 6 when it drops in price plus a $40 activation fee times 2 as my husband will also be getting a smartphone now. However, the more I read about it, it looks like it'll be slightly less expensive over the course of two years to pay monthly for the phone. Now I'm considering going with the 6s. Anything has to be better than my 4!

I like the upgrades that Apple did, but since I just got my 6 plus in January, I'm skipping this generation. I don't always have to have the latest and greatest.
