Do you want cheap, or do you something that works? My Macs seldom have problems while my HP notebook is constantly requiring attention.

I wouldn't buy one of the MacBook "Pro" over the unibody system I have now.

As I posted in another thread, I spent a good amount of time playing with the new "Pros" and I'm very unimpressed, considering all the noise thats being made about the new screens. I have one of the original LG screens and, in comparison to the new 13.3" and 15.4" systems I played with, the "upgrade" is being greatly exaggerated. When properly calibrated, the screens look almost exactly the same minus the exception that the new one has the color saturation turned up ever so slightly.

As for the other features..

Firewire? Why? If you're going to redesign the motherboard for new ports, let's take that extra space that Firewire now occupies, take out the mini-DisplayPort, and put in HDMI! Give one regular USB port and one combined USB/eSATA.

Also, why only SD? And is Apple going to be like other PC manufacturers and release a nice flow of firmware updates to keep up with revised SDHC cards and increase compatibility with the higher capacity cards? I doubt it, because we all know how Apple HATES to give away free "new features".

I was wanting to get the new MBP after I sold my current 2.0GHz aluminium macbook. Yesterday, a mate of mine bought the new 13" MBP. I was so eager to check out the screen.

You know what? There isnt soo much difference, but thats because I have a good calibration profile. Of course, the viewing angles are better and colors look marginally nicer. You would be hard pressed to really notice a difference that is significant. Even he told me it looks similar.

As for firewire, i agree that i would have preferred something else. Wished there was HDMI.

About the SD card slot, if i am not mistaken, it is SDHC capable from a video review i watched.

I did notice however that the keyboard texture is different from the previous aluminium macbooks. Its a bit rough now, but is less prone to sweat marks. Also, the trackpad is a bit quieter.

So, I decided to keep my current aluminium macbook and probably in 2.5-3 years time get the latest 13" MBP. My current machine fits my needs well, I just wished it had the backlit keys. Those are amazing.

Also, I dont wanna sell my current laptop for a loss and buy the new ones. You cant keep up with technology and if you keep doing so, you will lose money.
