Same Here!

I've been waiting for the iPad 2 ever since the initial announcement. I took one look at the iPad and asked "why doesn't it have a camera for video conferencing?". I might not even use that feature, but it seemed like such an obvious omission that I've never been able to pull the trigger on the iPad

Same here, except different. I asked "why doesn't it have a nacho cheese dispenser for when you're playing video games?

Ever since then, I've been unable to pull the trigger. My wife says she understands, but is getting impatient.

I'm also planning on moving to another tablet, I have an iPad and I find it very limited and lacking of RAM memory, I use kindle too, so this will affect me, since a slight update is expected for iPad 2, I think this time the competition is offering better specs and functionality without the limitations of iPad, sorry I'm not a fanboy I'm just a smart buyer.

first - for those of us who do everything on a Mac (iCal, Addressbook, etc) the seamless synching will alway win me over. If I was a Windows person, I'd think hard about the other models.

Your Mac knows how to sync with google automatically and of course Android phones do as well. So syncing is not a feature you'll loose if you switch from iOS to Android. When I switched from iOS to Android I found android was less sophisticated but more flexible and functional. Not a bad trade off for me at least.

I still love my iPad but if Apple messes with my content, I'll learn to love a new device.

Then Apple should not try force prices to be the same in ios as outside. Publishers should be able to charge whatever they want in ios and a different price outside if they choose.

Apple is simply trying to squeeze guys like Amazon out so ibooks can take over and you can never switch from an idevice. It looks like they have made it impossible for Amazon to compete. Problem is it hurts the consumer who bought the idevice. We are the ones Apple really wants to control.

Content is king and Apple will either drive prices up for us or cause the good content providers to leave the platform leaving us high and dry.

I have to play the role of defending Apple here if for no reason other than to try and point out where they 'might' be coming from.

I know it's in Apple's interest to have an iDevice in as many hands as possible. They want to lure as many people to their hardware as they can because there are many avenues for them to get additional sales. I think the issue they have is that Amazon is basically paying nothing to them currently for Apple's huge market for which they can get book sales, etc. I could be wrong but beyond making the app, what cost does Amazon currently endure with regards to selling all these virtual items through Apple? None, right?

Simply put, Amazon has a HUGE market they can tap into and get sales without really putting out any large expense. I'm not saying I agree with the 30% added cost (should be lower) but I see where Apple is coming from.

Now flame away. :(

Yes, iPad is going down because iPad 2 is coming out.

These android tablets are not used in real worlds yet. I haven't seen any large selection of apps yet. I haven't seen any solid pricing that really can hurt iPad sales yet.

So, stop dreaming.

Why do some people say strong sales mean people don't care about flash?

If apple offered a flash and non flash version which one do you think would sell more?

Same thing with lack of a file system and being tied to iTunes and no game controller.

The iPad is great but many things about it could be much better?

there are over 100,000+ apps in the android market.

Why do some people say strong sales mean people don't care about flash?

Here: Because it means people don't care enough about Flash to not buy the product. Or it means people don't care enough about Flash to buy another product which has it. Most people have no idea what Flash even is - when a website doesn't work on the iPad, people blame the website, not some CEO they've never heard of.

If apple offered a flash and non flash version which one do you think would sell more?

If Flash made the iPad experience worse as many argue, what do you think this would do to long-term success of the iPad, people's perceptions of user-experience, and so forth?

Same thing with lack of a file system and being tied to iTunes and no game controller.

A @#$%ing game controller? Why shouldn't it be tied to iTunes? Buy a Linux box if you have to get your nerd on.

These kind of demands are made by people trying to kludge the iPad into a desktop computer. If you want to screw around with a file-system because for some bizarre reason you have 6 photo Apps which need to access the same files, get a laptop or desktop. The iPad is not designed around a filesystem. It's simply not made to be used the same way you use your computer; to complain about this is like buying a motorcycle and complaining it's not a car.

Starting to think its pointless using the forums anymore.. it seems if you have something to say that doesnt make Apple seem in a posative light you just get bombarded with Fan boys kicking off and acting imature.

"Was I suposed to read your post" ... really man? really? how old are you seriously...

I agree, Apple needs to step up its game. I have owned the iPad since launch day its fun its great I like it however the OS is the thing getting boring to me now... the App store is the reason I will still always pick Apple against the others however Honeycomb is looking awesome...

Its the OS look that needs to change it needs some new features but really needs updating.. its aged its looking old and boring now and its beginning to be less fun to use... Folders are not personalising... we need some sort of customisation.

I would love a OS GUI update.

iPad isn't going down, but Apple typically has never been at the forefront in hardware specs in most (not all) of their hardware. The iPad 2 will be somewhere in the middle of the pack in hardware specs, and by fall, they'll certainly be behind again. But, most Apple fans don't care if their device is necessarily slower. What's the mantra.... "it's all about the experience".

This.

Most people who post in these forums are combinations of share holders and fan boys. Anything even slightly negative gets totally tackled by them and spun around to seem positive for apple.

It's like people have said before on the forums. If the iPad 2 has specs that blow away the competition, then specs are a huge deal and apple is really smart for going big. If the iPad 2 has ****** specs that lag way behind the competition, then specs don't matter and it's the user experience, app store, etc...

It will always get sugar coated with fanboy BS.

Actually it's because people fail to distinguish what they want from the iPad with what they think they are entitled to; because people present their selective opinions of the iPad as universal fact; because they ignore any constraints Apple might be under when it comes to implementing their demands; and they assume that Apple has an obligation to do what they want, instead of just going with a different device which meets their needs. The rest of us say 'if you like it, buy it. If you don't, don't', and get called fanboys. The way people get so mad when Apple doesn't do whatever their brains cook up, well it's a wonder some people ever got off the teat.

EDIT: It's a lot better when people address what others actually say, instead of making pouty smears against unnamed 'fanboys'.

not having a 7" tablet choice is a disadvantage. 10" is great for around the home or if you're seated at a coffee shop, but frankly... not-so-hot if you want to walk with it or lean against something to use it (without, say a high counter)

If netflix et al disappear that would be a huge bummer as well.

If you asked me a month or two ago which tablet I'd buy, I'd say Ipad2, no problem, but it seems like it will be a very slight upgrade in functionality beyond cameras, with potentially a downgrade in apps, making for a huge 'Meh' moment.

Just my very average tablet buying view.

True that,I love the blind zealots who think that everyone will stop using flash because Steve Jobs said its the devil.

First off, I love my ipad don't get me wrong, i think the music apps and games are great on it, but I have a feeling the other tablets may prove to be a lot more functional in the long run if Apple doesn't step up their game.

The Ipad 2 from what we know seems to be a pretty small update. We all know about the flash drama, not the biggest deal but most definetely a limitation which to me seems pointless. Ipad also has other limitations as Apple doesn't give you the freedom to do whatever you want with it.

Maybe I am wrong but I'm starting to think the Ipad is going to be catering more towards the rich and consuming type crowd.... Again, I love the ipad, but I'm strongly considering moving onto another tablet once I see how the upcoming ones function, if any of them prove to have staying ground.

Maybe the Ipad will dominate but as of now even the Ipad 2 seems like it will have lesser specs than many of the new tablets coming out. But we will have to see how their apps and battery life is like.

Also Apple's new guidelines in the store, that companies have to split profits 30% seems like it will hurt the iPad and Apple in general also. Things like that with Apple make me think many people are going to start moving onto other companies.

Maybe you should move to a tablet that has a spell checker built in.

I dont waste my time talking with imature fan boys, you give me that responce but you cannot defend those who say things like "err was I suposed to read that post?"

You can deffend that sort of comment can you? no you cant because its what we call an imature fanboy.

I am a huge Apple fan but I wont defend them to my grave. If someones producing something cool or even cooler than Apple I will say it and admit it.

Allot of people here cant.

And I didnt attack all Apple fans, did I attack you? nope my comment is towards those idiots who dont even read peoples ideas or comments and just give an ignorant idiotic response.

Of course there are idiots who come on and demand all the wildest things that are virtually impossible or rediculous.. that is true but ignore them.

edit: btw I am not calling you a Fanboy the start of my post looks like that.. but im not I just mean in general I do not have the time for Fanboys. If I thought you were one of them I wouldnt even give you this response.

There’s the Apple iPad and there’s the other tablets.

The iPad for better of worst will always be different than the rest, its Apple’s way, don’t ya think.

Doesn’t matter what we think, they will sell millions

Much of this is ill-informed blather.

For example, some are authoritatively basing their arguments on the 30% cut given to Apple, and taking that as an example of Apple's greed. However, in some markets, a 30% cut is a SAVINGS for the source. Apple's terms are an absolute God send. In others, it's disastrously large, and not economically viable.

You can't extend the argument on a mass basis; you have to do the math---and none of us here know enough to supply figures for the math.

they'll survive w/o flash, and the whole subscription thing will probably be changed to be more lenient at some point, is my guess. there's still not enough competition in tablets to give them incentive to change anything..yet

...

no flash made me sell my ipad and get a macbook pro...now I will likely pick up either an android tablet or the touchpad

A big part alot of people neglect when they compare tablets is their respective App Stores. I have an android phone and honestly, the apps suck. The games are not even close to Apples quality, and other apps as well.

I'm sure that the first few weeks of purchasing a new tablet will be exciting and new, but afterwards, as you look for new interesting apps worth your money, you'll come up short. I'm not saying other tablets are all crap, i'm just saying you have to think LONG term, which is the App store, or android market.

Let's not get melodramatic here, there's nothing sinister going on. Amazon is a seller, just like Apple is, they make quite a bit on every Kindle books sold as well. It's not like either Amazon or Apple is going to go bankrupt any time soon.

Borders proves you wrong and is though.

The iPad isn't going down. It will certainly lose some market share with all of the upcoming tablet releases, but it will still be the major player.
