I saw someone mentioning the delay in the notifications... I have the same thing in my S9 it just waits for me to unlock the device to the notifications to arrive...and I want to go back to an iPhone just for this alone... Samsung experience is not bad, the devices are really fast and pretty, but there are little things that make me want to go back to an iPhone...

That's pretty typical of Android in general. They get 95% of things right. The problem is, that extra 5% will drive iPhone converts insane much of the time

Agreed, it's the ultimate dealer breaker for me.

Yep, Notifications speed in Android is nowhere near as good as iOS. My iPad would get my emails for example a few minutes before my Android would, sometimes a whole 5-10minutes would pass before Ingot the email notification on the Android, the weird part is that this includes GMail.

In actual fact I believe Apple have dedicated servers or something just for Push Notifications, hence we get them quicker on an iOS device, because even with Outlook in my old work PCs would be same, I would hear my iPad go and then a few minutes later the email arrived on the PC.

Loving the quickness and reliability of Notifications on my XS Max.

Your far from the only one that feels that way.
What are the latest Android phones you have used? You’re not a fan of Android, yet you dig up all the sales data and show how much money Samsung are losing. I challenge you to use a Note 9, s10+, OnePlus 7 pro or a Pixel 3xl and not be impressed. Not saying you will sell your iPhone and convert, but you talk about Android as if it were something that was leagues below Apple. There are actually many ways Android destroys Apple, but that’s just me taking the esoteric approach. Have you spent GOOD time with any 2018 or 2019 flagship?

Ive moved from a S10+ to XS Max due to the notifications delay, was very annoying.

its funny how the Gmail app on my ipad receives emails quicker than the Gmail app on the S10+

And this may seem too stupid, but I REALLY REALLY REALLY miss touching the status bar to scroll up :( I do it all the time in my S9 and it never works xD

One of the benefits of Google not really monetizing Android at all is they don't really play favorites to the platform. The iOS version of Google apps are as good if not better. You almost get the sense that the only reason Google isn't even better on iPhone is because Apple favors its own services.

Samsung made a fantastic phone in the Galaxy S10. There’s literally nothing wrong with it other then my own personal preference of OS.

Thankfully for me, as resident iSheep FFR pointed out, I’m not stressing out for not selling mine yet. I took the leap for fun and knew I’d lose some money when switching back.

I don’t even understand why people bother themselves with resale value of a phone. I buy a phone because I want to enjoy it, not because of resale value it’s not a house.

Then again I never sell phones, usually give them to relatives and friends when I am done, or just hoard them until someone I know needs one.

Exactly. When my S10 sells, it sells. LOL.

I think for iPhone users, it’s a bigger challenge to choose between the Pixel and iPhone. I ultimately stayed with iPhone but Pixels/Stock Android are basically the iPhones of Android. Great software and if the hardware and customer support gaps narrow, that would make it even tougher.

Oh are you back on the iPhone now. I can’t keep up lol

Haha, indeed! As long as you are enjoying the experience.

You guys are very lucky up there, you get to have first hand Google service experience.

Pixels are not sold down here, and if you need one repaired Google South Africa don’t deal with hardware as they primarily exist here for Google Ad Suite and Cloud Services, even their local team mainly use iPhones and Galaxy devices, I know a few who even use Huawei phones, only time I ever see a Pixel at the local Google office down here is when there is a colleague of theirs coming from the Dublin or US offices.

Resale value comes into play for people who upgrade every year and buy the phone outright. Paying $1100 for a Note 9 and then being lucky to get half that when the Note 10 comes out is a tough pill to swallow. For the first time in my life, I’ve had the same phone for over a year and it feels kind of good to not be on swappa selling my old phone after I buy the new one. Once 5G arrives then I will hope to find one to last me another 2-3 years.

You can use the Samsung trade in programme as you often get more for trading in your phones than you would get if you tried to sell your Samsung phone privately.

You back to iPhone?

I have the S10+ and iPhone XS. I have switched back and forth at least 25 times. I honestly love both. I am so torn, I love the screen and customization of S10. But I love the iPhone for platform integration (iPad, MacBook ..etc). Love iMessage and FaceTime . I have to decide at some point, since I am just tired of going back and forth. But it really is a blessing...two great phones in the market today. Awesome to have choices like this, in the past it was not always such a parity game.

I would like to switch to the XS also. I have a 6S right now and even a 6S+ would be an upgrade for me as I want a larger screen. But the 6s+ only has 1 speaker and no glass back(which is good). I want a larger screen, 2 speakers but no glass back.
Those with glass backs sound way too fragile.
