I would like to switch to the XS also. I have a 6S right now and even a 6S+ would be an upgrade for me as I want a larger screen. But the 6s+ only has 1 speaker and no glass back(which is good). I want a larger screen, 2 speakers but no glass back.
Those with glass backs sound way too fragile.
That would be the perfect iPhone, a XS Max with a stainless steel back instead of glass :D would be so epic.....and probably very heavy, lol.

With the release of iOS 13, staying with Apple is just a no brainer. Such a beastly update, all in the right places and so well implemented.
True. Though I still really enjoy my S10+ as a mini entertainment center because it does still have the headphone jack and a gorgeous display. And I use the camera a lot for the wide angle and zoom lenses.

But my workhorse is my Xr even though I of course don’t have iOS 13 on it. I’m looking forward to iPhone 11r.

So the 7+ is it;)

Resale value comes into play for people who upgrade every year and buy the phone outright. Paying $1100 for a Note 9 and then being lucky to get half that when the Note 10 comes out is a tough pill to swallow. For the first time in my life, I’ve had the same phone for over a year and it feels kind of good to not be on swappa selling my old phone after I buy the new one. Once 5G arrives then I will hope to find one to last me another 2-3 years.

I was one of those who bought an S10e on launch day; I think I paid $750.

I got $411 for it - ONLY after shopping around - not even 2 months later when I said "This is crap" and traded it in for an XS.

TWO months. Losing almost 1/2 its value in two freaking months is ridiculous.

Be glad it wasn’t the S10 cos this is selling just for $50 more.

thats why people buying 2nd hand can be happy;)

Originally it was, but the FPR on my S10 sucked bad...so 10 days in I returned it and got the S10e. LOL

I saw someone mentioning the delay in the notifications... I have the same thing in my S9 it just waits for me to unlock the device to the notifications to arrive...and I want to go back to an iPhone just for this alone... Samsung experience is not bad, the devices are really fast and pretty, but there are little things that make me want to go back to an iPhone...

I can 100% agree with this. I have a XS Max and S9 and my S9 notifications are always delayed especially when the s9 has been sitting untouched for a while and only when I pick it up again the notifications come in.

Better not drop it...ever. Haha! One drop, with that much weight, and it would be toast!

These phones are already so undervalued it’s ridiculous.

Owning it long term is the only way. But with Samsung reputation for untimely updates, and poor resale value, that wouldn’t necessarily be the best decision either.

So who really are Samsung customers!? Die hard and Apple haters is what I’ve mostly found. Their lead time with Android, and brand power IMO are the only thing that keep them in the game. Ownership of a Samsung phone is a dog compared to an Apple product. Don’t really see the appeal myself.

You have a lot of generalizations in your post. Let me put things into perspective, in Australia if i get a phone through my provider on a plan i have the option of Apple, Samsung, Google and Huawei. As you can see there are not to many choices.

Huawei is pretty much out of the question these days, The Pixels hardware is lacking severely and it's only the Camera software that saves the phone. iPhones are nice if you are into iOS but for many people an iOS device is a non starter, I don't like to have zero control of my customization and the feeling of being locked into a single ecosystem, its anti competitive imo. This leaves Samsung, sure they are not perfect but the S10 for example is a really good allrounder, it has a decent camera, The best in class screen, great Data speeds and phone call quality (something that is under appreciated these days) It has very competitive battery life and runs smooth. Unfortunately they drop in value pretty fast but that is the case for most technology these days as things progress so quickly, Apple devices are the exception as they hold value really well.

No arguments here, get what works best for YOU. I was really just speaking from what my experiences have been with Galaxy owners. They generally and genuinely dislike Apple, whereas an iPhone owner is at worst indifferent to Samsung, like me for example.

I’d play with a Samsung if I had extra cash, but I don’t so I have to go with what works best for me... That is iPhone.

Separately, I think it’s hard to argue iPhone isn’t the better long term value. With current prices of Samsung and iPhone, that’s an important factor UNLESS you get the Sammy at a substantial discount. Hopefully, you aren’t paying MSRP for your current galaxy device. There’s a reason iPhone is a premium price, taking NOTHING else into consideration, it is THE BEST SUPPORTED PHONE ON THE PLANET. This is the case literally, from date of purchase til the day you trade it in or sell it. Samsung by comparison, good luck getting support heck, even a week after purchase (from the company directly that is).

Most Samsung phone owners seem willing to take the risk, I am not. Something goes wrong with my phone I don’t want ANY push back, just a fix.

Absolutely if you intend to keep your phone longer than 2 years an iPhone really does make the most sense due to updates for 5 years and great resale value, however most people in Australia upgrade every 24 months as that is the plan duration. Personally i upgrade annually so things like updates are very low on my priority list and as i lease my phone resale value is not important either.

In terms of taking a risk with Samsung, i've owned the S7, S8+, S9+ and S10+ and now the S10 5G with zero hardware issues. My S8+ still works perfectly today and if i do have an issue i can take the phone back to my provider who take care of any issues for me.

I am an OSX guy so i don't hate Apple but i don't like iOS at all, to me its a complete non starter, to each their own i guess.
